could be data files i had this issue with mario party 8 if you played wii sports previously on that wii an in game file might have gotten corupted so you would have to reset your wii but also lose all your data
@theappelcomputer because I've tried 2 copies of wii sports on my wii, and none of them work. I'm just trying to find a solution or something to resolve this issue.

if you bought that Wii Sports from a local game store try see if they will give you a replacement
I already returned it to gamestop and im getting a replacement

if they dont accept it to sad too bad
Try another game if it works if none works theres most likely a problem with the wii
