I love how each artist brings a refreshing quality, and voice to each role and performance . As an Oz reader and enthusiast I love the passion these talented artist pour into these songs and characters making our beloved stories evolve, become relevant and retold into the modern lense. Hannah Corneau and Britney Johnson combine their talent to keep with the Oz tradition to using the world of fantasy and story to evolve society through the art. As a theater enthusiast and modernist I feel Baum would have loved this performance!
hannah corneau is prob not my fav elphaba vocally (dont get me wrong, she's amazing), but i have never seen any elphaba actress that good. i felt the entire emotional journey instead of just hearing the song. brittney is absolutely amazing too

@@emmalovesyourdog I mean Ariana has always played characters similar to Glinda with a more timid style of singing, so maybe it will be decent, I hope it goes better than the Cats and DEH musicals went. 😭😭😭 Cats was just terrible, and I understand Ben Platt was the original Evan Hansen but his ass should not have been Evan in the movie, dude was way too old, and they could’ve found younger actors with great voices and gave them a time to shine, and just made Ben Platt a cameo, and then they removed like one of the most important songs in the musical ‘Anybody have a map.’
Love the fresh casting and love grinda. Didn’t love the pop style of alphaba. It needs that musical theatre belt and vibrato that she doesn’t show in this clip
She has an amazing voice but it’s all over the place the emphasis is all wrong and her facial expressions are just odd acting choices at times. Saying that when the two of them are singing together they compliment each other perfectly.
notice how there is a major difference between the emphasis on the importance of both characters’ races being set in stone? glinda’s character can literally be any race (literally any COLOUR other than green) as it does not define her character, but celie cannot be anything other than black. so yeah; no one agrees w/ that hilariously horrible take of urs. bye troll !!

she brings such a modern take to Elphaba. Like a breath of fresh new air that this character really needed. I love her so much
