  • Today, we show you 3 simple DIY techniques to repair a frayed shoelace / shoestring / bootlace / broken aglet, because those damaged laces tips can be fixed and look like new in just a few minutes!
    ► TECHNIQUE #1
    - You will need: clear tape.
    - Plus: Really easy to do.
    - Minus: Durability of repair.
    ► TECHNIQUE #2
    - You will need: Superglue / CA glue / A piece of Polyethylene (PE) / Clamp.
Note: Superglue / CA glue does not adhere well to Polyethylene (PE), so the shoe lace does not end up being glued to the working surface
    - Plus: Cheap and easy.
    - Minus: Not too pretty but can be combined with technique 1 for a better finish
    ► TECHNIQUE #3
    - You will need: shrink tubing / heat gun (or other heat source)
    - Plus: Durable and good looking
    - Minus: May require you to buy shrink tube. Note: I used the size of shrink tubing I already had at hand. A bigger size (diameter) would work better since causing less problem with initial lace threading.

At last, a decent tutorial on how to do no.3. I also like the tip using tin foil as It’s time consuming to use thread to wrap around especially when I am making 100 gift bags and I either use cord or ribbon for the handles and so that’s 400 tips! Thank you

0:05 #1 The Quick One - Klebeband herumwickeln

I totally agree with you, is sad how consumerism creates that idea that is better to fill trash bins with useful things and buy more future trash than repair, reuse and recycle just for the sake of our beautiful world. What a future would nowadays children have when present seems like this... @@TheLabOtomy

The mentality to throw away immediately instead of trying to repair ruined our society and planet. I want to encourage you to try build and/or repair something yourself! It can give you quite some pride and joy, really! The feeling that one can built and fix things oneself. Not always being a dependent consumer at all times. But knowing you can do stuff yourself. Good luck with your craftmanship!
