Let me know if you have welded aluminum this way!

I tried making an aluminum framed rectangle. The heat from one corner would sweat apart the nearby corners that were already welded. I ended up using corner braces and machine screws

Reminded me of when my grandpa taught me how to do body work on cars the OLD way, using lead. Most difficult metal working I have ever done.

It took a few failed attempts to get the hang of this I won't lie. Thanks for watching.

This stuff will glue aluminum if done properly but it is a eutectic brazing alloy or a solder not a true weld but will work for non structural jobs. I've used it on a fishing boat with limited sucess.

Pretty much brazing with a torch, to weld aluminum without a spool gun you should probably stick to TIG

Most modern mig welders can accept a Teflon lined mig line with the power coming in at the tip, which allows mig welding alum with the spool inside. I still prefer my spool gun tho. TIG is nice, but never found anything easier than a spool gun. 😊

@@jameswizWhat do you mean the power is coming in at the tip?
I think the term you're looking for is DCEP.
Also spool guns are for poor people, push/pull guns are far superior.

@anxietyonline1947 Yes DCEP. Also, you're exactly right, Push-Pull is much better and fits more places and is lighter than a spool gun as well as being much much cheaper.

I need to repair some aluminum in my RV where existing welds have failed. Is there an easier way?

Not unless you know how to mig or tig weld. Unless there is a way to use bolts or sheet metal screws. Thanks for watching.

One thing to keep in mind when doing this, aluminum melts almost immediately when it turns red, soooo make sure you don't overheat your aluminum stock.

    That's a braze, not a weld.

As a plumber. Pretty much soldering. We do all the same steps when we solder copper. Number one rule. Make sure the copper is clean.

This is brazing not welding. Also, file in one direction. Stop dragging files back and forth like that. You ruin it that way.

It’s not stick welding that’s more like oxyfuel welding stick welding is shielded metal arc welding

That's not welding, it's soldering or brazing. Welding is when the parent material becomes molten and filler rod is used to build a puddle for full penitration. May I suggest you learn what you claim to teach, your misinformation could be harmful to someone taking advice from rookie.
