I've never viewed your channel before, so I settled down this evening, for a highly intellectual, and serious, description of some ballistic engineering. Anyone who describes an object as a, "Rear sight slidey thing," is spot on level with my understanding! I immediately subscribed, thank you, young sir!

Have one....99 euros....and then bought the steel breech-block and a comp and fitted some aftermarket custom grips...a gentleman in Madrid charged me 30 euros and they are gorgeous!!! Have a Benjamin Marauder pistol and removed all the plastic and fitted some walnut grips he made....stunning gun! The 2240 is my ONLY CO2 gun that doesn't loose ANY gas...ever! Trigger needs customising....the Marauder has a beautiful trigger so it can be done! Cool Sir!!!

Crosman made some great pistols. I've had 2240, but got fed up of buying CO2 for it. Went for a 1377 pump pistol and love it. Currently being converted into a PCP as I'm getting too old for the pumping malarkey 🤔

1377 is my second favorite, 1701P is a work of art. 1/4" and smaller sometimes groups out to 20y.

Huge fan of these, so many add ons and bling options. I've one with a side lever ten shot magazine and others with brass or stainless steel tubes and barrel sleeves. eBay a good place to start, but there used it before a couple of great Facebook groups also

Very nice👍 Love what you did to improve the shot cycle.
I put a 2250 barrel on mine along with a longer 2260 main tube. Added a “bulk fill” adapter on the end which allowed me to fill the main tube with CO2 and eliminate the need for CO2 cartridges. Happy shooting!

For me it was a multipump 1377 pistol i spend hundreds converting into a backpacker with a flat top piston loads of brass bits, a williams diopter sight and a brass muzzle with sight pin, 16inch .22 barrel, brilliant little thing it is. Hits like a damn train for something that looks and feels like a toy.

I modded up my 2240 with parts from the UK, but one of my best mods was a lighter hammer spring (cut down a stock spring). I made mine into a 10.5" barrel "target" style pistol and get 70+ super consistent shots @ 460 fps with JSB Express 14.3gr (6.7 ft/lb) on a single CO2 cartridge. (I'm in New Zealand so I can go over 6 ft/lb for air pistol.) The stock hammer spring is quite wasteful on gas, and my cut down spring just needs 2 shots to pierce the CO2 cartridge but is otherwise perfect.

I paid £70 exactly for mine about 2014. I then went to Hawaii in 2016. In a Walmart at the airgun section. $27. Yes $27, and they were still making a profit. Both Crosman, and Walmart.

Here in the nordics, they go for around 200 US$… Sadly, most US stuff is just not worth getting here. Unless you want to spend $150 for a red ryder etc.^^

Very cool video on the 2240. I never owned one but my friend did, and it was very accurate for a cheaper air pistol. I especially like your child-like enthusiasm and sense of humor. Being American, your pronunciation of “France” really cracked me up. Sounds like my mother from Chicago, with the extra long A-sound. “Fraaance”. 🤣 Also, the “Wears the soap?…Yes it does…” thing was hilarious.
(Not sure how many Americans would get that, but whatever) We are made fun of for good reason.
Really liked your whole presentation and detailed disassembly and subscribed because you left us hanging on all the other improvements on this iconic air pistol. Can’t wait to see your next episode as you have fun with your new toy.
Aloha from Hawaii and Seattle. 🤙🏼

@ , Thank you back. Being American and not very proud of that, especially now that the moron in chief has been reinstalled. We’re really screwed here and not many in the States have figured it out yet. But being American, I’ve owned and fired countless rifles and pistols of the powder actuated variety. Something you guys in the UK can’t do since you have sensible gun laws and no school shootings every single day. I’m 61 man, and have really bad arthritic hips. I haven’t gone to the shooting range for a couple years now.
Never been a “gun-nut” but nobody was from my era. It’s gotten so extreme and militia oriented, I want no part of this new scene. I just wanted peace and to be the best marksman without losing an eye as a kid with a Daisy BB gun. I’m 61 and still have both eyes of varying degrees of clarity but I’m still a great shot. So I went with airguns just to still hit the bullseye without all the negative connotations of a real gun. It’s a growing sport that grew without me paying attention to pellet guns, but I’m back now. Super fun and actually way more involved mechanically, than firearms. Super fun to tweak and get dialed in, and the accuracy now is astounding. It’s fun and non-lethal. It’s marksmanship and a harmless hobby. Albeit an expensive one if you go nuts with it, but I’m still just trying to hit that bullseye.
So you’re obviously doing the same thing in 6 yard tournaments there in bloody old England. Very cool and lots of us are basically doing the same thing here, we just have less restrictions on FPS or FPE. Which is good on your side of the pond and I believe should be the same here, but you know America, there’s no laws that aren’t breakable with no consequences attached.
Here’s the cool thing I discovered about air-rifles. Breaking the speed of sound makes no sense for accuracy as the pellet wobbles and curves as that barrier is broken. Let’s add that to the list of reasons why to keep it under control and just have fun. You can be an extreme marksman but not harm another living soul like I am, and still have great fun shooting a rifle or pistol. I’m really getting into this now and a channel like yours is, really more my speed. You’re not all that serious about it, and at the same time, you are. That’s how I am. I’m a mechanic. I take things apart. Put them back together and improve on their performance. If everything was built perfectly and lasted forever, I’d have nothing interesting to do.
Sorry for the long-winded reply, I can’t help that I’m full-blooded Irish. Love your channel man. Keep up the great stuff. Really fun to watch.

When I get a seal kit for mine, I'm going to drill a hole in the underside of the CO2 tube, to make removing stuck CO2 bulbs easier.
My Zasbar has a slot underneath, pop a screw driver in, and gently push the bulb out, no banging and messing about with magnets to pull the empty bulbs out !!

As they come they are good cheap plinking guns I had one years ago but it is so easy to get sucked in and buy all of the upgrades changing the cheap plastic parts for metal etc when its finished you look at it and think for the amount of money I spent on it why did I just not buy a quality well made gun to start with then if you decide to sell it later you stand a good chance of getting your money back but with the crosman unless you find a mug its money down the drain.

Yup. Them Americans.. Always getting (or already having) the good stuff... And thus it is always so badass when I see some co2 replica pistol not really getting there everywhere (as the Umarex Glock 17 dual-ammo, which also got out as a threaded barrel version) - or maybe as a limited bunch..
I personally never gotten myself into these Crosman pistols though, as I know I'd be putting cash on extra parts. I do enjoy my Crosman DPMS SBR though..

Never seen that type of box on a 2240 before. The new base models now come in a cardboard box that is styled after their new pellet tins from what I have seen. If you have not heard the Chinese 2240s seem to have valve issues and a fair few comments have come up about them leaking. Either through a damage or incorrectly installed o ring, or due to bad machining or a bad fit of the valve stem to valve fit. Crosman sends a replacement no questions asked. The hammer, cocking slots, etc have also been reported as quite roughly machined from a few other posts.
Not sure if that rear slot will fit anything else, but I know it is made for their LPA Mim rear sight.
That price seems about right for the 2240 XL, the base model is about half of that. If you like the old c02 pistols as well, check out the Smith & Wesson 78G or 79G (177 and 22 respectively).
I wish suppressors were legal here, the 2240 is quite loud without one, really not suitable for backyard or indoor plinking.

Fancy reviewing this. Just when I thought I had got the 2240 out of my system. The only one I am left with has an 18 inch barrel and GMAC multi shot breech. Sadly no longer available, hence the reason I kept it. THESE THINGS ARE THE MOST EXPENSIVE PISTOLS IN THE WORLD. Good fun though.

It's odd how in the U.S. suppressors (Moderators) you need to register it with the FBI yet they're the freest when it comes to owning guns, but the UK has some of the most strict laws and they've banned lots of guns but suppressors are ok, then here in Canada suppressors are outright banned, male it make sense!

It's nice, but you could have got a 2300T (.177 target) once you had spent all that money on shipping etc. it has a much better trigger also so you won't need to buy the adjustable trigger springs for the 2240
It comes with open sights as well, and a moderator adapter for it is only an extra fiver
