Sorry one last thing: why doesn't someone make a fiberglass gaffe? The handle could be made of wood, some composite, whatever - but given shark's extreme sensitivity to metal, wouldn't this make sense? Just be sure to slice me a small cut if the idea takes off 🤣👍
Another thing is that to get the same amount of meat from another species, you'd have to kill a huge number of fish. By killing a big fish for food, you only have to do it once.
What did I just watch !!? You caught a 7ft (ish) shark. Landed it. On a boat. By yourself. That's just sick !! Your videos are becoming more epic with each one !! Keep it up !
I really appreciate how you treated this wonderful creature of the sea with the outmost respect. Sharks are an essential part of the sea ecosystem, but this also means you are allowed to harvest some - and when done responsibly it will only make a dent in the overall population - and possibly help the shark population stable.. Thank you very much for the show and tell !

Nice to meet you today on the Orange Beach Pier; the day after you caught this little monster. I'm not really a fisherperson but I really enjoyed the video and the conversation with you today. I will check out your other videos and maybe even get "hooked" on this fishing activity. Epic video congrats on that! Love the open water fishing you had some good action with that, and then that shark showed up and a big one at that awesome of you to pull that out by yourself. Everything was great and it looked delicious towards the end of the video
Thanks! It was very unexpected , and I couldn't believe I finally got it in the boat. Such a cool experience, I was so happy to share the meat with everyone too! Thanks!
it's my dad's dream to catch and keep a shark! we watched this video together, and his first words were "wow, that's a dream" . ty for the inspiration, and cg on 100k!! been here since 60k!
Absolutely incredible video!! To me this really exemplifies the difference between saltwater and freshwater fishing. When that shark shot by the boat.. That was so cool! When you pulled it on the boat I said "holy crap" and then you said the same, haha! What a fight, good job man. I appreciate you explaining the regulations and not shying away from keeping and cooking fish like this, our culture has got to learn to grow a spine and understand where our food comes from!
Thank you for the point about understanding where our food comes from. I've been an avid fisherman all my life but have always been a "catch and release" guy. And for trophy species in public freshwater, that's probably fine. But I have a very good friend with a farm pond that has been taken over with huge bluegill and medium (9" - 12") sized bass. We all know it needs culled but nobody has pulled the trigger on that since her husband passed away. But thanks to your comment, that will happen this summer.
All around great video keep doing what you are doing and spreading awesome knowledge and content!! Just recently discovered you’re channel and will definitely be watching more!
Hey Steven. That was a great catch and cook. I had no idea shark could be cooked up like that. We don’t see many shark up here in Michigan so it’s cool to see you catching all these unique species. Keep up the good work and thanks for keeping the Good Lord at the center of what you do.
Great video! I like how you named the different types of fish you were catching! I've eaten shark once, and I don't think I prepared it the correct way. Thanks to you I'm gonna have another crack at it!
What an incredible catch and landing. I never would've guessed a rod that small could land a shark that large. I love how you emphasized the blessing it was to land such a beautiful creature and that you didn't want to waste any of the meat. It bothers me when our fellow fisherman don't have respect for their catch. Also I like how you explained that it was legal to keep and that they have a thriving population. I live on the Eastern Shore of Maryland where Striped Bass numbers and sizes have plummeted due to a variety of reasons including overfishing yet tons of people still keep them. The average size you catch today is like half of what it was even 20 years ago. It's as if people don't realize that eventually there won't be any more to catch if you keep wiping out prime breeding age Stripers. They keep ones that are just barely legal size and I just think "were those two tiny fillets that aren't even big enough for a meal worth ending that fishes life before it could make thousands of babies and grow into a trophy sized Striper? Their kids might not even get to experience catching one because they're being wiped out.
Love love the catch and cook. I’m a fisherman too and was always leery about keeping a shark. but you definitely change my mind about things and love the way you cooked and tasted it too
Awesome, Bama. Really cool vid. Tell us about your culinary history. It is a lot of fun to see an open wide vision of food culture and cuisine. Also I really enjoy your range of fishing species. Please, more!
You are so blessed to live by the ocean! I love the ocean and used to fish with my dad growing up! I love to fish anywhere! Shore fishing jetty. I live in Idaho now so I love river fishing!. Me and my dad would go on half day boats in S cal and mostly catch rock cod. I just found your channel a few months ago but love that you thank God and give Him the glory for your catches and all! Great video! Many people don't know how delicious sharks are. I was a little hesitant the first time I tried it but it turned out to be incredible. The meat melts like butter. So delicious and not fishy at all. I'm definitely gonna try it your way. Thanks for sharing
Extraordinary technique, and respect for your catch to boot, very humane way of catch and release. Very gentle skills with that rod, I notice your catches prior to the sharks you could see minimal damage to the fish you weren't going to keep. Great job dude.

Your a beast to be out there alone. A beast for the shark alone, a beast with and knowledge on reels and rods, if. O one has told you man, i appreciate your work. Through and through from catch to cook , love it man
The spinner shark is currently listed by the World Conservation Union (IUCN) as “Near Threatened” throughout its range and “Vulnerable” in the northwest Atlantic Ocean.
@@StevenMcTowweleeie It's not endangered. If it was, it would be regulated. Even so, it's commercial fisherman that are doing the real damage to fish populations, not individual fisherman like Bama Saltwater
Only came a cross your site today, watch a couple of episodes, then came upon this! Hells bells ! This is an awesome catch. I'd have needed a very large martini to recover from that!
Only some shark species are endangered and everything he did in this video was completely legal...if a shark or any animal is endangered, it is completely illegal to harvest the animal. This man has shown countless times his respect for the regulations of wildlife...and sometimes it can be healthy for the population of a species if some of them are taken out so there is food for the rest
This was genuinely some of the best content I’ve seen in a while! Not sure how I’m just now finding your channel. That was the fastest 30 minutes I swear lol

Thank you for sharing B.Good
Delightful content, just discovered the channel. Enlighten me, which variety of shark is that that has to be fermented first before cooking to avert poisoning? i saw sth of the sorts on the tube smtym bk.
@@JS-rg7vo just because it's legal doesn't mean it's right. it isn't respectable to catch sharks, its pathetic. just leave them alone in the ocean where they belong.
I once caught and cooked a 110lb mako!...it was a very interesting meal. Some thought it was a cross between filet mignon and halibut steak. Believe it or not I also used teriyaki sauce on some and cajun sauce on others. My daughter is driving me crazy about moving to Alabama....if I do I hope to meet you on your favorite pier!!!!
You’re my new favorite you tube fishing channel. LOVE your content. Very informative and you make it look simple and you have a great attitude my friend. Love it.
Very nice Near miracle that the thing didn't cut the line with its tail or fins. You might want to consider wearing a PFD when by yourself. Could have easily knocked your head when you you lost your footing. Good job getting the thing in the boat without it tearing up everything. Anybody that's ever cleaned a shark for eating will recognize what high quality those knives are to zip through the skin like that. Good job with the cleaning. That is some really nice meat to bake or grill on a flame. Never had any like that, but it looked really good. The GOM gives some really good eats Thanks for the video
Yes for sure! PFD is definitely a good thing to wear. I'm glad I had that serrated, I learned my lesson last time haha! Glad you enjoyed the vid, thank you
Yeah Wouldn't take but one smack against the railing or the trolling motor, or slip and hit the ledge of the front deck or something. I started wearing one back when I used to run trotlines by myself. Dang murphy can stow away and you never know he's there until he makes you have a booboo

Man, I been loving your videos! Keep up the great work. You definitely deserve way more than 100k (congrats on that btw)
Thank you!!!!!
Your a beast to be out there alone. A beast for the shark alone, a beast with and knowledge on reels and rods, if. O one has told you man, i appreciate your work. Through and through from catch to cook , love it man
WHAT A HERO THIS GUY IS --- catching stuff and killing it for FUN !!!!!
I have some fresh fruit and vegetables in the kitchen all I need is one of those big shark steaks. Nice catch, bet it tasted so good.
The spinner shark is currently listed by the World Conservation Union (IUCN) as “Near Threatened” throughout its range and “Vulnerable” in the northwest Atlantic Ocean.
Thank you, i had to scroll a really long time to see a comment like this.
@TheGoffelLP yeah hope the dude in the video was told this eventually. Not cool to kill endangered sharks.
go cry somewhere else, he has proper etiquette harvesting fish. good sportsmen such as him is what’s really “near threatened” in this world
@@StevenMcTowweleeie It's not endangered. If it was, it would be regulated. Even so, it's commercial fisherman that are doing the real damage to fish populations, not individual fisherman like Bama Saltwater
Wow, rarely do I watch a video that makes me so hungry. That teriyaki shark dish looked awesome. I really wanted to try it
Only came a cross your site today, watch a couple of episodes, then came upon this! Hells bells ! This is an awesome catch. I'd have needed a very large martini to recover from that!
Sharks are endangered species. Hope you keep this video so your great grandchildren can see what a shark looked like.
Nah that's just wrong, beginning at that beeing a shark and the fact u let it suffer on ur boat instead of killing it instantly.
Spare us the twatwaffle bullshit. You saw the title and still watched, so STFU.
Good morning yes, I have a problem with your videos. Every time I watch your videos icraveseafood! I can't think of a better way to go hahaha!!!!!! keep up the good work and have a great day.
I have been watching your channel for a bit now, and must say, I'm becoming a regular. Your recent shark and cook video really made my mouth water, and so wish like you said, there was SMELL VISION, cause I could with certainty, enjoyed that other plate you fixed of steamed veggies and teriyaki shark...
Thank you for sharing
B.Good
If you would legaly be able to rob a bank it would still be wrong… there is so much wrong about this Video!
What is wrong about it?
You're right. At no point should anyone ever stir fry LETTUCE!
This is such a dumb comparison...
This is literally the stupidest comparison I've ever heard in my life...
Delightful content, just discovered the channel. Enlighten me, which variety of shark is that that has to be fermented first before cooking to avert poisoning? i saw sth of the sorts on the tube smtym bk.
stop killing sharks please
Man... that looked like fun. One exception lifting that thing into the boat... excellent video. Cheers!!
Definitely a fun time, and I don't like giving up, so it was a huge challenge getting that joker in the boat haha! I wa happy when I did lol
dont catch sharks please
why? he followed the rules and that is respectable
@@JS-rg7vo just because it's legal doesn't mean it's right. it isn't respectable to catch sharks, its pathetic. just leave them alone in the ocean where they belong.
@@noarmsnolife6665 what’s the difference between catching a shark and a fish or a even a anchovy ? you are just a hypocrite
You cant control what bites your hook, and if its legal for him to eat it then its not a problem
OMG!!! Dude you are a fishing guru.. wild catch and on your own which makes it even better congrats
Yes sir first video I have seen of yours , you got my sub. & keep up the great work brother!!
where did you get the big mikes seasoning? did you buy it at a big mikes ? thanks
I believe you should be able to. I purchased it from Blalocks Seafood in Orange Beach on Canal. They're the same owners as Big Mikes
@@BamaSaltwater thanks so much !
Earned a subscriber, this how all Americans should be living.
Appreciate you
Gonna be in Orange Beach for a week in early July. Who would you recommend to guide a fishing trip?
Just found this channel but probably my favorite subscription so far. I’m headed to gulf shores in august, can’t wait!
How do you determine when to go out ? The water seem to be ruff everytime we go out. Is there an app that will be accurate.
You’re my new favorite you tube fishing channel. LOVE your content. Very informative and you make it look simple and you have a great attitude my friend. Love it.
You are living my dream! A house next to the sea and fish & cook!
Hell yea brother , you are like the master fisherman🎉.
What a catch 👏
Very nice
Near miracle that the thing didn't
cut the line with its tail or fins.
You might want to consider wearing
a PFD when by yourself. Could have
easily knocked your head when you
you lost your footing. Good job getting the thing in the boat without it
tearing up everything.
Anybody that's ever cleaned a shark for eating will recognize what high quality those knives are to zip through the skin like that. Good job with the
cleaning. That is some really nice
meat to bake or grill on a flame.
Never had any like that, but it looked really good. The GOM gives some
really good eats
Thanks for the video
Yes for sure! PFD is definitely a good thing to wear. I'm glad I had that serrated, I learned my lesson last time haha! Glad you enjoyed the vid, thank you
Yeah
Wouldn't take but one smack against
the railing or the trolling motor, or
slip and hit the ledge of the front
deck or something. I started wearing
one back when I used to run trotlines
by myself. Dang murphy can stow
away and you never know he's there
until he makes you have a booboo
??? What kind of smell when cleaning and what kind of flavor do you get. Is it the same as most other fish Thanks
No smell at all on this one. It was gutted as soon as It was caught
Idk if I’m The Only One But I love this Video!! I enjoyed it Gracias de verdad 🙏
