I do have and play with the previous version pure strike vs and I like it very much. I'm a 97 inches frame fanatic I do have two.Wilson Ultra Pro 97 the 16x19 18x20 both are a Machíne too. I'm from Argentina this one did not came in yet. Thanks for the feedback 😊😊
I do think there is a big difference between the old Strike VS and new 97. Any Yonex 97”s?
Hiya, great video thanks. Are you able to do a review on the new Pure Strike racquet bag aswell? It really seems like theyve designed something a bit more different than the previous bags? Thanks 😊
Great idea! We will certainly do one when the bag is released later this month. It a nice die free bag :)
Yep wud be keen on this review as well. Hope its a standing bag.
@@andrehalim469 every bag is a standing bag. hahaha . but yes i think this one has the shape and padded bottom to intentionally stand up :))
Thanks for the video! How do you find the 97 version compared with pro staff and percept?
Great question as they are so incredibly similar. You really get much of the same between those 3. If i were to be critical i would say they all have that same great control setup but differ as: Strike 97 = best spin generation. Pro Staff = best volley performance. Percept = one hander feel/stability.
Do you think that for those who have three pure strike vs, it is worth exchanging for the new model? I saw that the power increased compared to the old model, was this increase large or very small? I ask because what I like most about pure strike vs is the low power and precision.
I would characterize this more as a financial question which is tough for us. Your somewhat asking is the $750 purchase plus possibly loss of your current three racket value worthwhile? I don’t want to steer you in the wrong direction but if you can, get it at a discount or can sell your old rackets. I think Babolat has done a pretty good improvement on these models compared to previous.
Great Vid as always !!! oh, sorry for the dumb question, but this is not the Thiem's racket, is it???
Thank you! Hahahha not a problem. I do say “Thiem racket” as he is the ambassador for the Strike line. He does use the 18x20 pattern but technically no pro player uses anything in retail stores
Domi Thiem uses the gen3 pure strike 98sq” 18x20 model with a bit of customisation (he’s using this racquet with the new gen4 cosmetic)
@@bengray5013 All pro players use something completely different than what you find in stores. You may compare or visually see it similar to a strike 18x20, but that is sadly not the case. Different materials, setups, lengths, and more. But yes, he does endorse that model.
Thanks for the great review 👌
I always get confused by the word demanding. What does it mean actually?
I am only an intermediate player but I don't feel too much difference in terms of ease of use between say my Pure Drive and my Pure Control 95+. I can understand the Pure Drive gives more wasy power for those who can't generate their own power and maybe the larger head gives a little more real estate to play with but I would not describe my 95 as being difficult in any way. I actually feel like the ball is on a string with it compared to a 100.
The high swing weight of the 98's is something that i would describe as demanding because thay can tire you out when playing at length. I also have a Gen 2 Strike which i love and has a much lower swing weight than these new ones.
How do you think this Strike 97 compares with the Yonex Vcore Pro 97? That's another racket i found super nice to use. Thanks😉
Thank you and such a quality question! I use the word demanding for skill level required. There are always exceptions but bladed golf clubs, manual transmission cars, longer skis, and other things require more skill than their counterparts. Although you may personally have quality results with your Pure Control 95, if you took 100 players they would statistically have more success with the sweet spot on the Pure Drive 100 vs the Control 95. You may be an intermediate player with excellent hand eye and that detail is not a limiting factor for you personally but certainly would be for others.
As for Percept 97 to Strike 97. They are def comparable rackets from competing brands. Like coke vs Pepsi you can examine with a magnifying glass to find differences but for the average person they are interchangeable. I like how the Percept silo has many heavyweight options to cater to that player demographic and the Strike silo offers great control for all ages and levels.
@@SolowSports Thanks for the detailed reply. In other words i should not be afraid of the Strike 97 if i feel comfortable playing with a Vcore pro 97.
I basically like the 310 balance of both :))
@@christiansantfournier2794 Correct. We try to be as helpful as possible providing info without making the decision for you. The reason I say that, is that both the PS 97 and Percept 97 are mathematically so similar, its up to the individual if a $250 purchase is warranted. For me personally, its too similar. But others like to spend more on their tennis and are in a different position (or can even sell their current rackets to make a change)
What sort of strings n tensions did you use on the 97/98? Thanks
We went with RPM Rough @ 54 lbs.
want one
Ohh yeah. Worth every penny
Do you know if the grommet from the VS fits this new 97?
We do not. We can get that answer for @babolat after launch. It may be possible despite the color mismatch
@@SolowSportsOkay sounds good, thank you! I wonder if it won’t because I think they changed the string spacing, did they not?
@@asantesamuel13 We will get a definite answer from Babolat directly and update.
What strings do you recommend for the 97 and how do you compare it to the aero 98?
The Strike 97 = max control. The Aero 98 = spin with control. Quite different audiences. Strings are dependent are what you are seeking. Are you looking for power, control, spin, arm friendliness, cost, etc? Tell us more and and we can provide better curated answers.
@@SolowSports awesome! Thank you for the respond. As far of strings, I am more of a flat hitter, no so much spin. Something with either pop and control. I currently use Wilson nxt. So something along those lines
@@TheUlyssesornelas If you want to stay in the multi, my favorite is Tecnifibre X-1 Biphase. If you want to venture more towards poly style, you can try Tecnifibre Triax. And if you want to go with a poly, i recommend softer poly's for you coming from a multi such as Luxilon ALU Soft or Luxilon 4G Soft.
@@SolowSports I highly appreciate you taking the time and responding to my question. Thank you. If you had to choose between pro staff 97 which is my racquet or this one, 97 strike, which would you choose?
@@TheUlyssesornelas The Pro Staff 97 = fitting for all of Rogers shots and style. One handed backhand, slicing, net play, eastern FH, etc. Strike 97 = less demanding compared to the PS. Similar performance. We do have videos on both showing who the ideal player is in terms of best matching each racket :)
Nice review. What is the bag?
Thank you! That is the new matching 12 pack. Looks even better in person 🤩
