Is it even possible to ruin such a beautiful and complex relationship as this one in 3 minutes or less? Apparently so.
However, this is a reminder that the writers are nowhere close to understanding what Villaneve means to each and every one of us. We see a part of ourselves in them, therefore they are OURS. They always will be since now they are a part of us, too.

i’ll never recover from this ending. Eve lost everyone she loved. Villanelle was just starting to feel loved for the first time. The writers ruined my favorite show and especially Laura Neal

Its sad when i think abt it that whenever V tried to hold eve’s hand , eve just shoves her hand back or tried to ignore her touch and this ONE time when eve really wanted to hold her hand , V was long gone.
At least she died knowing she was loved... I still want to believe she is just unconscious

@Galloping Goose yeah! They couldn't get together. They needed to change first. BUT season 4 had all the potential to be an on off relationship and than finally coming together. The chemistry is still sooo damn good even if they're together. I don't know why the writers were afraid of that. How Eve behaved at first broke my heart and Vs too.

The episode was everything til the last two minutes. Jodie and Sandra were so so so good. The kiss brilliant. Every little detail of it. A fifth season would worked together with them as a pair. I'm heartbroken. Really. But its not the ending for me. For me its the fake death or maybe she gets saved. Something like that.
Pam dived in and saved her. That's how it goes in my book. THAT'S HOW IT GOES
She survives in the book and they have a happy ending. That's what I'm clinging to.

@@creativemetalhead I guess its because of the actors. One year was lost because of covid and you sign new projects in the meantime. I'm sure we had 5 season, when covid didn't happen. Or they saw the script and thought one season and no more 😂

The frustration isn't here just because V died. But how it was handled. The last season felt weird. First they made them mad at each other for no reason right from the beginning. And then they made them a couple five minutes before killing them. That's just cruel to the fans but it also doesn't feel right. It felt rushed. Out of character sometimes. IDK. I am dissapointed.... not just said for loosing Villanelle. I kind of expected at least one of them to die. But the last scene is how Eve is being destroyed...swimming in the water? That is like a literal spit in the face to anyone caring for the characters and for the show. 💔

The ending to this show brought back my trauma from lexas death eve(Clarke) lost everyone she's ever loves everyone slowly dying off and villanelle (Lexa) was just starting to feel loved for the first time finally being able to be truly happy but then in the Mist if that happiness it's stripped away by a bullet the other (eve/Clarke) having to watch and hold their lover as they die and all their happiness is taken and they now have to live with the burden of losing their greatest love
I'm crying again and I don't think it'll ever stop 💔😭

This is what I want. Revenge. Fine kill Villanelle (whatever, if you must. I had prepared myself for the possibility) but do you really think Eve would just let that shit go and just move on...I mean how? go back to what? How could Eve, proven obsessive, let that go?
I want a movie. Eve hunting down Carolyn, completely unhinged, with Villanelle as an imaginary sidekick the ENTIRE TIME. Then we can romeo and juliet this situation and Villaneve can be together for eternity. Then I can add this show back onto my all time favorites list and all will be right with the world.

Not only was it offensive, it was in general bad writing. They took the least likely option, the least desired option, and then...that was it. There was no good REASON for that to happen.
Tragic endings have a reason. And they aren't there just to be edgy and destroy what took 4 seasons to finally culminate.
Then, 'The End'. That was it. The most ridiculous thing I have ever seen in TV.
I hope we all ban together and not watch any spin-offs or anything from the writers of this season. They destroyed something that would have been epic.

They just have it in for lesbians...always death, tragic endings...piss off to the writers of this episode....you did the fans wrong....just another tease to the fans to keep the show running...no happy endings suck.....
The pandemic should have told them people need and want a happy ending..

I was invested in the happy paranoia but it was so out of character the dancing/killing scene made everything look ridiculous enough to have fun for once and keep with the high hats of the episode. So the scene was devastastanting and with no narrative explanation at all.

Damn I'm still crying on a fucking show. And I'm so sad to see how this story ended. How they close doors on us, how they rip out our hearts.
It's not so much about killing Villanelle. It's the way to have done it, to have taken away all majesty, all meaning. It's...leaving Eve on the low side and then saying it's a rebirth.
I don't care if they would have lived a happy life. I doubt it and that's not what matters. The important thing was to give them a chance to try. The important thing was to let them meet at least one last time in death.
I like KE. And I'm heartbroken that this season (especially this finale but not only) has ruined an extraordinary story by making it predictable and "classic".

Even though it is implied that Eve survived, I definitely think she is going to end up committing suicide after what she saw. Villanelle was the only one left she had a reason to live for.
Eve wouldn't commit suicide, she'd kill everyone who was involved in killing Villanelle. They took her love from her. They snuffed out their happy life together before it could truly begin and Eve would destroy them all atom to atom for that, with fire and fury. It would be her new mission.

I feel like smth like this would be much better:
Pam agrees to work for Carolyn, Carolyn orders her to kill Villanelle, but at the last moment Pam shots at Carolyn istead. And Eve and Villanelle run away.
Why?
1. Pam. She had a development as a character. She realized that she is strong and can do whatever she wants, she doesnt need to prove anything to anyone amymore, she makes her own choices. She takes the job, but decides to kill the Last Twelve - Carolyn. Cause technically Carolyn is the 12.
2. We have a couple Carolyn/Konstantin- one of them dies. And now Eve/Villanelle - one of them dies too. Like comon, this is such a lazy writing. Would be better if the older generation (C+K) did their msitakes and paid for them but E+V learned and escaped the possible drama.
3. Wtf is this ending? Basically all these 4 season are pointless. Eve is left with nothing and 12 wins (cause again, technically Carolyn IS the 12).
4. The whole season had some good moment and many very lazy wirting moments. Like, these characters would never behave the way they did. ...Like Eve dancing, while she knows that Villanelle is out there with the 12? Alone? In danger? In fuckin season 2 Eve RAN to save Villanelle, cause she thought she is in danger.
5. Also the whole killing 12 scene.....🤦♀️ Not a bit of satisfaction. Like...THE TWELVE, their goal, wanted to see much more than just shadows and some drops of blood.
Colnsusion: Lauren Neal wanted to create a "genius" writing, by killing one of the lovers - a-ha Romeo&Juliet, but instead just did a super cliche, very lazy ending.
I'm always going to be bitter about the way that KE ended. Such a talented cast squandered on really bad storylines. I will probably never see Jodie Comer in anything else bc I don't want her future projects to interfere w/ my obsession w/ Villanelle. What a waste of an iconic character for the ages! You won't see the likes of her coming along any time soon. Maybe never again. Smh. 😭😭😭

It's been 4 days since i watched final 2 episodes and I still feel gutted 32 episodes and what 15 minutes of them together can somebody tell me what's wrong with a happy ending game of thrones, penny dreadful now this.

I was beginning to panic when there was no video yet from you! thank you, you're the best for KE videos , truly love your passion for this show n what you make of it.
That said I don't think the ending ruined it at all.
Will miss the show, will miss Comer as Villanelle, what a delightful essaying of a truly brilliant character... an absolute treat. I'm very glad they didn't drag it out and turn them into the sickly sweet camper couple. The clever portrayal of queerness sans stereotype is something I appreciate here and will miss too. Death is inevitable. And, live and die by the sword n all that...They absolutely Killed the story in the best way possible!
It's difficult to believe this a satisfying ending to a story like this, but it IS!! So, contrary to everyone dissing Laura Neal, I think she's done a fabulous job of tying all the themes and changing the narrative, nuanced and understated, chique as hell despite the anticlimax with the 12.
Queer stories are just like evey other story. They end like others.
Within the space of the last episode, we see them make up on an island, go camping, come to terms with everything they've done - in a cabin, sit by a fire, do dishes, share a bed, take a piss, ride together and walk together down a road. It's a marriage story, succinctly executed, enough said. They're no longer the Eve and Villanelle from earlier. That's top not screenwriting! One of them dies. The relationship ends. I'm all for lesbian loves living on screen but maybe it's time to also accept them as the new Romeo and Juliet and they've definitely done way more together than those two! I love the writing esply for this episode. V's death makes her character all the more important. in visual memory that is the greatest tribute, because she's more than just someone who's in love with Eve. I think that's important to remember. She also really did put Eve where she is now. It's truly the most beautiful character arc.
Jodie Comer and Sandro Oh of course have done an absolute fabulous job with the metamorphosis of their characters. Something to truly savour.
Any end will be anticlimactic in a series like this, but this makes it an adult love story in the best possible sense besides the best feminist take on all things in western canon of all kinds - myths, movies, religion.
I cannot state this enough. Kudos to the whole team and to the writers, the set designers, costumes, the music, the edits, and the actors. A real love story, a marriage story well told.
And these characters will live on forever in a cultural imagination.
I don't think anything would have hit the audience quite the way this ending did and I do think it does represent a true organic narrative. An absolute gem to be treasured and nothing but respect for the characters, all of them!
I am also mad and hurt at the finale, but for a show called killing eve you can't expect it to end well. I think it was well writen, however painful - it feels like we can never get a happy gay ending, they can never just be together and roll credits. But it think this metaphor for Eve losing everything and everyone is so heartbreakingly beautifull - she is the only one left, survivor's guilt is at maximum level for her - her death is a metaphorical one. And i can really respect this decision. Also, Villanelle died protecting Eve from the bullets, a trully self-less act that shows her love for Eve and her ascendion to being holy is very much that act imo. I loved this show and im sad it ended and in such a way, however i'm glad they still got to properly admit their love for each other and kiss before the end. But Carolyn? She can die the most gruesome death, I don't care.
I understand what you mean. But in my opinion Eve was killed long ago. We seen her change. I just hoped it wouldn't be a stereotypical ending. Why does they always need to be dying? Is there a rule or something. Killing Eve had this dark humour, it was different, so why end it like this. Nah. Carolyn is pure evil, she deserved to die.

Agreed. Seems like a lot of time wasted on things that didn’t matter. They could have given their road trip more time.
I felt from beginning happy ending unlikely because Eve was good guy and Villanelle bad guy. Plus wasn’t sure they were going to have Eve return V’s feelings. BUT by end of show there were no good/bad guys; everyone gray not black or white. And Eve was more like Villanelle, and V proved she was capable of some growth and change - and love, at least with Eve.
So why not give them happy ending. The impediment to them getting together was gone.
I think these writers just decided from beginning it wasn’t going to happen and refused to change course.
What really angers me though is just the overall way they handled season 4. If this was to be the ending, we deserved better leading up to it.

The ending is honestly worse than the Game of Thrones one.
S1: V got stabbed
S2: eve got shot
S3: they parted their ways
S4: V got killed and eve is left with nothing

We don’t know if they parted ways. Surely things happened that made them so at odds to start season 4. Just parting ways wouldn’t have caused that.
Ending was decent & and about just right. No need to get more into the alphabet agenda (already enough of it throughout the show & esp. the wedding at the end). This is how spy genres should end, with people dying & others to replace them.

Nothing about the last season was right. Regardless Eve and Villanelle. Yes...killing off characters is their choice. But the writing was bad.

Go back to S1 when she killed Bill, then her parents & family, etc....but all of that's OK now b/c she's a hot 🌈chick?
