I had always interpreted the "Damage to Ficsit Property" thing to be more about the company being more concerned about their equipment than you. Kind of like in Portal (spoilers).....how GlaDos talks about there is no reason to worry because the portal gun can withstand the high temperatures in the incenerator. I had not thought it meant that the character was property, but I guess that is another interpretation that works.

The end game will be to build superposition oscillators and use nuclear pasta to power it. Something will go wrong and we create our own time paradox where the super position oscillators turn into somersloop the nuclear pasta turns into the Mercer spheres. The SAM ore is the leftover from our factories after it’s warped from the paradox we create. Then the game just restarts. We have been harvesting the same planet over and over for millennia, but each reset isn’t a perfect reset.

I've always gotten the impression that the alien artifacts are hacking the pioneer's AI unit (similar to the Mesmer squid in Subnuatica) and attempting to entice the them to gather these objects. One of the enticements attempts to persuade the pioneer to pick it up by impersonating one of their "parents" and claiming to be ill and that only alien artifacts can provide the cure. It's as if the hacker is trying all possible avenues to appeal to the pioneer and get them to pick it up.

I'm still missing so many things in this story, like the role of the ticket reward system, the statues that can be unlocked and the overall "quality of life features". What actually happens to the "sunk" items? And what is the exact role of each item in relation to the quantity you have to provide it. Like, why would ficsit need 1000 propulsion rockets, what could they be used for? Let's not forget about the teased items, the superposition oscillator and the quantum computers, what could their role be? What about the respawning, cause you basically get cloned in the hub when you die. Or is it rather a new person that is send down to pick it up where the previous dead employee has left it?
The messages coming from the artifacts also tell us something but are confusing at the same time. There's chaos on earth, but also the paternal figure is ill and needs a cure. Are these true or is it rather manipulation to seduce you in gathering these items that are spread out and sometimes well hidden on the planet. The animals seem to be conscious about the items they are protecting. Is it coincidence they appear strategically at slugs, artifacts, ore deposits and crash sites? Why are the not roaming or protecting their own nests like wild animals would. Then there's the lizard doggo's that are hoarders themselves, as the large cave in the west suggests. And why do the stingers attack the hogs and the spitters, but the latter two not each other? And what about those marble looking rocks. They really seem out of place. The one in the west, another one in the east on a high pillar rock. Or the vegetation. The giant trees that end in the desert but then there's one dead giant tree in the desert, suggesting it was once forest. In the desert you can find these caves with square entrances that seem man made and underground structures likes tombs. Or this one drop pot that is under a rock while all the other are in open air like they just dropped down. Most of them are still smoking and making noise when you get to them, so they are fresh... another one: the craters... Still so many questions!!!

So, when you mentioned the numerous drop pods along with some of the likely storyline, I found myself wondering if our player is essentially the sole survivor of a team of pioneers sent to the planet. Seems a bit illogical to send only 1 person/unit to a planet, at a time, to harvest so many resources.

    • @bogdanstoiljkovic3534
      @bogdanstoiljkovic3534 Рік тому +10

This theory seems very plausible and logical, although I feel it has some flaws. The biggest flaw to this theory is the model of the crashed ships is different to the Drop Pods that we arrive in at the very beginning of the planet, instead looking identical to the ship found at the back of the HUB. Furthermore, when we open up the crashed ships, we get a Hard Drive, with some alternative recipes to the ones we unlock with each Milestone in the HUB.
I believe that this could be due to two reasons, the first one being similar to your one - that Ficsit sent multiple pioneers to the planet at once - although instead of those ships containing other pioneers, they might have contained alternative recipes to help us more efficiently build our factories, alongside some more resources. (Some of which we find scattered around the crashed ships.) When 1.0 is finally released, we might also be able to find some more crashed ships, although ones that contain other (Now deceased) pioneers instead of resources and recipes.
Alternatively, these ships might not have been sent by Ficsit alongside the ship we arrive in, but by the pioneer/s on the other molten planet. When we want to unlock a new Milestone, we load some resources on the ship located at the back of our HUB, before launching it into space, most likely to a Space Station where... Well, we don't know what happens to the ships at the Station (If a Space Station exists - although I cannot think of where else our ships would go, but I imagine that the contents of the ship are checked) before it is sent back to the planet that we are on. I believe that these crashed ships are found all over our planet due to the pioneer/s on the other molten planet sending ships up to the Station to unlock new Milestones similarly to us, but something mysteriously happening to the ships, causing them to crash on our planet instead.

I have a theory on the 'faucet' rock formations and the other arches that don't have any water. I think the area of Massage 2 Abb that is the game map was originally entirely submerged, and the arches are created by something similar to corals. The ones that are pouring water have tapped into extensive underground aquifers (of which there are plenty of other signs - aka springs.) The dry ones don't have any water and are dead; but we can still see the 'coral' skeleton on some that have been cracked.

Man, I go for a much smaller and simple story. Coffee Stein already made a statement about the storyline being just a backstory for the real gameplay. Probably we're just stranded, Ficsit ship need major repairs and they started to send Pioneers to the planets in this system. That's why we see the three bases on the lava planet (maybe future dlc, like Subnautica did?). We are not the first to attempt, of course Ficsit is lying to us. The crash sites are previous attempts, they look like hubs, and maybe the previous Pioneers have succumbed to craziness caused by the WIP objects. Another possibility is that Ficsit is on the planet exploring the unique applications for the local ore and WIP objects, the job description is "explore to build a food court" as an ALIAS for the real objective. We slowly make progress with that ore and WIP objects and we will see the breakthroughs in late game with teleportation and other stuff. I do believe in another tier, maybe 2 tiers, with advanced technology and transportations, that's a clever way to overcome the problems with belts and the miner mk3.

    • @marcovanderspek9476
      @marcovanderspek9476 Рік тому

Ficsit did not lie. They never said you were the first to attempt planetfall, merely the first to survive. And these days, that's even updated to say "third to survive planetfall in your sector", implying multiple pioneers and even multiple sectors.

Looking at all the things we're making for Project Assembly, I would bet we're setting up a warp gate, and docking space station of some sort. All the more mechanical parts, the engines, and the thrusters would be used in it's general construction, and used to keep it in a stable orbit in the system somewhere. The Superposition Oscillators would allow the gates to be quantum entangled with its counterpart elsewhere to enable instantaneous control no matter where you were in the universe (and allow short range teleportation), the Nuclear Pasta is a bit of a mystery, seeing as how it's the most dense substance in the universe that's not a Black Hole (my guess is they'd want to use it's gravitational strength for something), and the SAM or is an "Exotic" material used to keep the wormhole generated by the gate open and stable for use.
Chances are, we're either humans or droids sent ahead to build the gate (and probably a Dyson Swarm) so that when colonists arrive through the gate, they can receive personnel and materials from other systems. I don't know that the Pioneer is a slave though. If it's anything like a lot of future corporations portrayed in Sci-Fi, it'd be more like indentured servitude disguised as "employment." Everything you do, everything you use, everything you make is all considered the corporation's property or business. In return for your work, you get food, shelter, clothing, healthcare, and transportation. Also, any "money" you earn is all meant to be spent at the "company store," and nowhere else.
The alien artifacts always seemed to me like they were commandeering ADA, or imitating her voice in your head in order to manipulate you into picking them up, because they see ADA as the voice of authority. If it were the CEO's voice in your ear telling you what to do, and what you have available to you, I would imagine the artifacts would sound like her instead.

  • @thegardenofeatin5965
    @thegardenofeatin5965 Рік тому +7

    Some ideas I have:
There are two flavors of alien artifacts. Could these potentially represent two factions of aliens that were once here? Did they fight? There are 150 somersloops and 151 mercer spheres.
Mercer spheres have a fairly consistent pattern of appearance--they appear on one of a few designs of organic looking pillar. There's a quality to them that feels like they were grown where you find them. Somersloops on the other hand often feel crafted and deliberately placed; I can think of more than one that are attached to smooth white stones which seem out of place for the environment they're in. Some are perched on top of constructed-seeming rock spires, and at least one is set on a set of square-cut blocks. Still others, like a few in the dune desert, are just laying in the sand at odd angles as if they were thrown there.
Neither type of alien artifact shows any tendency to concentrate in any area and I don't see any correlation with the presence of the large artificial arches. There are a few areas somewhat devoid of them though, most notably the dune desert to the North.
The artificial arches tend to appear whenever the terrain gets canyony. There's several in the dangle spires and around the islands on the West coast, a fairly intricate network including a hub of sorts over the Red Jungle, a few near the cliffs to the East of the red bamboo forest, quite a few in the Northern Forest and the great canyon, and several around the periphery of the dune desert. Several are seen disgorging water. They appear in all manner of sizes; there's one set that holds a Somersloop on the cliffs of the rocky desert that could be an elephant's rib cage, others are over a hundred feet tall. Several areas are completely devoid of them.
Both types exhibit the same manipulative "Harvest it." behavior. It calls collecting them "harvesting." It attempts to use patriotism "World president urges citizens to do their part" familial ties "This is [paternal figure], I am ill and need your help" and most interestingly, competition/greed "Picking up other Ficsit personnel in the area."
ADA says we are the "Third of our sector to survive planetfall." Our sector of what? It can't refer to the playable world area, because we're obviously alone here; there aren't two more pioneers building factories on our 25 square kilometer island. Our sector of the planet? Our sector of the galaxy? Third out of how many?
The game map is littered with crashed Ficsit freighters, nearly 100 of them. Currently, all HUB milestones in the playable game require 33 freighter launches, so for almost 100 wrecks to be scattered on this fairly small island, 3 other pioneers must have launched, and crashed ALL of their freighters. Why have so many crashed? Are ours successfully making it to orbit? Fresh ones reliably come in to land. We find no crashed drop pods, so we seem to be the first Ficsit Pioneer to set foot here, alive or dead. Are they being shot down? Most seem fresh; still smoldering and making metallic popping and creaking sounds.

Early in the game reference is made to materials like Quartz and Caterium seemingly without knowing what they are. To me, the implication is this is the first time this has happened
Regarding drop pods, I may be off base, but I'd always interpreted them as failed landings like your own at the start of the game, so Ficsit sent many pioneers to the planet, but only you have survived.

Here is my theory based on what we know. The CEO is either an alien or controlled by an alien (perhaps the jellyfish creature) telepathically, perhaps taken over when she previously visited the planet. The SAM ore is used to combine one of each of the artifacts into a sci amplifier of sorts. That's why all three have the same number. Maybe one for each human colony or nation, or that is the number needed to completely cover the planet. All the things we are sending up will probably be used to build a ship to send, what you might call probes, to earth. One of my reasons for this train of thought is that so many things are phrased weirdly. All the parts are for a project called "Project Assembly". In the artifact messages it's "This is paternal figure" not "This is your father". Another one goes "World President urges" not "The world President urges". They sound like things from something that doesn't fully grasp human speech.

You know the whole thing about pioneers have a designated area that are assigned to them keeps reminding me of the movie oblivion. They work in these zone and work in pairs to be an “effective team” I won’t spoil the end but it seems to me the movie and this games lore could very easily be smoothed together. Although in the movie they go around repairing droids that kill native life forms so they can continue farming the planets resources much like pioneers do. It’s just a bit different. The movie is amazing by the way.

But I think the moon you are on (I thought something somewhere indicated it was a moon and not a planet, but I could be misremembering it, as well as the molten moon) are orbiting the gas giant you see in the sky. And I think the moon wasn't in the process of being terraformed, it was either artificial, or fully terraformed at some point in the very ancient past, but non-human aliens. What you see with hexagons isn't partially built equipment, it is breaking down. And based upon the size of some of the stuff we can see, it was built by a culture that had a much better understanding of engineering than Ficsit, which is much more advanced than ours since we can only theorize about space elevators and Ficsit casually builds them.

It's too likely and interesting that we'd be machines. We were the 3rd to survive planetfall, landing in an area littered with destroyed pods. We're the property of Ficsit. There was the sign in the update 6 video that said something like "trespassers will be dismantled". Our consciousness wakes up in a new body after a loading screen. Others look exactly like us. Our bodies are repairable. Falling would damage more than a suit, but that's easily repairable too.
It's possible that we're building an orbital factory to launch more pods and identical workers at other planets. The process would indeed be automated, it's just that a part of the system requires self awareness to function. How could it otherwise?

We're part of the biggest or only Repair Company that sets up shop at certain solar systems. Gathers local resources for making the "relatively" basic building blocks they need for repairing ships or maybe even bigger projects. "Project Assembly" . The planet was neutralized by Ficsit of all major threats, (the gigantic Moths who's wings skeleton was leftover and fossilized. They probably blew up the whole planet to destroy all the gigantic life forms, then waited for decades for the planet to recoup its atmosphere and "bio-fuel" . They land pioneers every now and then to check if the planet is harvestable. Some burn out on their way down, some fall into craters, some get destroyed by wildlife. Finally we arrive, the first successful touchdown in decades. Time to harvest.

Blue ones are easy to find and collect and are unguarded, yellow ones are more difficult to get to and are guarded, and the purple ones are even more difficult to get and even more heavily guarded. My pet theory about this is that they are sentient beings, with their own hierarchy (similar to higher, middle, and lower management), and presumably in charge of the planet as evidenced by the fact the top two tiers are in relatively 'safe' locations with a security force to protect them.

Heres my theory about the crashed ships. Ficsit is involved in intersellar terraforming/colonization. We were originally part of a group of pioneers/pre-colonists who were supposed to work together to create industry to support the colony and the space elevator parts are for a warp gate to bring the colonists to the planet. Something went wrong with the mothership, maybe an explosion and everyone had to evac, we made it into an escape pod and so were safe, others who tried to make it into actual dropship were not so lucky, and whats left of the mothership is running ADA. ADA is left to do what she's made for (being a slave driver) and we get to hope that our parts are being assembled, if we remember anything i kinda feel like we may have amnesia for the accident

I read some comments here and i have to confess there are really good plots from some players and i really enjoyed reading them. But knowing the fact the devs want a very basic story i think those 2 options i read in the comments will most likely become the actual story.
    - Powering the Superposition Oscillators with nuclear pasta will cause an accident and we create a time paradox where we just start from the beginning from @This_Is_Bill would be a basic enough story and a reason for a new game (or a new game plus maybe).
    - Also possible we are stranded on the planet, because our ship broke and we try to harvest and forge resources/items to repair our ship as @ViewtifulGui mentioned. But then, why does the AI (ADA) force us to harvest all these WIP items as they won't be necessary to repair the ship.

On the question of being the property of Ficsit. It's probably a contractual thing. If you've ever been in the military you are, by contract, government property. In fact, the term "G.I." stands for "General Issue". Yes, that's right, soldiers are issued to commanders along with their equipment, vehicles, weapons etc. In fact, many people who have injured themselves to get out of the military have found themselves facing a charge of "Damaging government property"
So once you've been in the military, seeing yourself referred to as "property" isn't actually very shocking, or really even questioned. As long as you are under contract to the company, they technically own you to deploy as they deem necessary. Yeah, it's kinda like slavery, but more like indentured servitude.

Also storyline will be the artifacts, probably needing the MAM to reserch ever increasing numbers of each type to progress the reason we are on that planet. Probably using them as a means to force (hack) ADA to give us information.
As for the crash sites, most likely were other pioneers sent to this section of the planet, but crashed and died, we are probably one that managed to survive the landing.

    My speculation:
Ficsit is trying to colonize the Massage system, reason unknown. The space elevators can be transported through interstellar space, but the main space station is too large and heavy. So the pioneer is here to make the main space station ("project assembly") before the bulk of the colonists arrive. This is not an easy task, and the pioneer isn't the first person in this area attempting it.
The pioneer is a prisoner, not a droid. A droid wouldn't need a full life support suit like the pioneer is wearing. One of Ficsit's corporate enterprises is as a private prison operator similar to what we have right now in the US, except that instead of using the prisoners to get money from the government, they're using the prisoners to advance the corporation's other enterprises.
The moon Massage 2 a-b(b) had been colonized in the past, a colony which failed. Think of some of the early attempts by Europeans trying to colonize the Americas, several colonies just disappeared leaving ruins to decay quickly. The SAM ore is a remnant of the previous attempt(s), and represented an advanced technology that was lost. This is why it's only available in limited amounts. The Somersloops and Mercer Spheres are also artifacts from those lost colonies. The original colonization attempt was probably made by humans escaping a dying Earth. Hence all the references to Earth in the Somersloop/Mercer Sphere messages. However, i don't think Ficsit falls in that boat. I think Ficsit was a successful colony of the dying earth, and now they're expanding through the galaxy. Fermi paradox solution: humans are the first in the galaxy.

    • @AdriaanVervoort

I like your theory. I'd like to add, there's a space station orbiting the planet as the space elevator is most likely connect to it. Or at least to a satellite that could be accessed by a spaceship or station. If there's more planets and perhaps places on each planet being exploited in the same way, there must be a huge mining and production company behind it building something gigantic. Perhaps they are building a war fleet or just civilian space ships for humans to use. I can find myself in the idea prisoners are send down to do it, or very obedient workers (like Chinese volunteers) that perhaps believe in some devine power they would do anything for, like the "paternal figure"... Maybe they are even being manipulated by this being to work for them and reach some kind of goal. There are two different messages transmitted, one says someone is sick and in need for a cure, the other saying the world is in chaos. Which one is it? And why is it your role to ficsit? Exciting to find out in the future 😅

Somer is an old word for Summer, since sloop is a boat, maybe it translates to Summer Boat. Mercer is a french based word for someone who sells mostly exotic cloths. I think we might be building a Space Elevator with a Entertainment themed area on the end. The motors would be for rotating the Space Station at the top to create artificial gravity.
Also, the Somersloop could be Hyperfuel of some sort and we could be building a Spaceship. Since it seems every 50-100 years or so the human race makes great advantages to Technology. Going a long distance in an older ship could take years while a newer ship could take that in months, days, or even just hours. So I think we are sent forward on the original ships path to build a better ship that they will transfer into along thier journey at designated places.

If faster than light is not possible then this is the best method. Ficsit tries to colonise the galaxy with this method.

Just a thought, perhaps this has been proposed before. But I was thinking of something else that can be incorporated in the game. Use efficiencies as part of game achievement or player/team challenges. To elaborate more; since FICsit emphasizes efficiency, then perhaps part of the end game is to reach a specified efficiency in order to be able to leave the planet because you have proven yourself a worthy pioneer at x proficiency in all factories. Maybe once a pioneer reaches x proficient % (say 100%) then they win the game, can leave the planet and become the champion. Then FICsit turns you into a mentor pioneer on other planet projects. Another way to use proficiencies in a challenging way would be comparable to MMOs using DPS meters for damage dealers, or HPS for healers. And then there can be many meters to measure efficiencies, such as each type of part factory built is graded on efficiency. So, every machinery producing something will be used for the individual and overall proficiency scores.

If in fact, "Ficsit does not waste" why can we repurpose the drop pod, but not the crashed pods? Isn't that double waste, as in material and time, as in the waste of time checking out a crashed pod you've already removed the hard drive from, and don't say you haven't done that a few times 😂, Great video Total! You and Kibitz should get together and compare notes, my money is on the two of you coming up with the TRUTH of the whole story!

    Accidental Terraforming Theory:
What if the terraforming is actually a side-effect of a major apocalypse event? Perhaps the whole world was a mega-factory/hive world like in the 40k universe, that went to hell and then got overrun by nature once all humanlike lifeforms went extinct
As you highlighted in your video, there is a honeycomb metal structure hidden under the major bows and protrusions and there is water coming out of arches. What if those arches are actually major waterpipes that are damaged after a series of earthshattering quakes, which broke the planet into chunks held together by remnants of the planets core structures.
Perhaps some of the ancient mega-machines are still operating and pumping the water about.
This would explain why the ocean keeps pouring down into an abyss without ever running out and the waterfalls keep pumping in water from seemingly nowhere.
And now, ficsit is trying to recover and resurrect the lost factory cities that once made up the beating (or droning) heart of this now green planet.

I think that the Somersloop things are the trapped souls of previous humans that were on the planet because you hear static an d voices when you pick them up.

I actually have a ticket open on the feedback site asking about the volcanic planet and its' buildings. I have taken some pics (screenshots) of these buildings, and compared them to our own buildings. I'm convinced the buildings on the volcanic planet are FICSIT HUBs. The blinking is due to a graphical bug that can be replicated on the local HUB, as the "blinks" are around 2Hz, while the Space Elevator blinks at 1Hz.
Interesting items of note: Mercer spheres appear to have "grown" into their positions, as flora. Many of them are on stalks or pieces that appear to be organic in nature. Somersloops: Many of these appear to be religious artifacts. If you pay close attention to where many somersloops are found, they are surrounded by ribcages, stone circles, placed on pedestals, and other placements that appear to inidicate either "monolith" leaning properties (Space Odessey). Many of the somersloops that seem as religious artifacts have critters nearby, that usually spawn unusually close to the artifact, as opposed to a distance away like power slugs and resource nodes. Also, if you look at the description of Caterium and Mycelia prior to obtaining these in-game, it seems as though Strange Alien Metal is just a placeholder. Once SAM ore is truly implemented in-game (likely in 1.0), there's a pretty decent chance the name will change, and will be replaced upon possession/research with a "real" name.

Somersloop could be a “loop”. It is in the shape of the infinity symbol. Somer’s Loop?

The Pioneer definitely isn't a droid -- the drop pod she travels down in is designed to protect something biological, she takes damage from inhaling hazardous gas and protects herself from it by placing a filter over her mouth and nose, the machines all have visual readouts and physical controls rather than an RF or serial jack interface, and she sits in a seat and turns a wheel to operate vehicles instead of being slotted into a cradle. I think when she's critically injured, an emergency life-support system kicks in, the contents of her pocket dimension are ejected and she's placed into the dimension herself, and something in the HUB moves the exit of the pocket dimension back to itself and withdraws her after she's sufficiently recovered; the messages being seen are her helmet HUD reinitializing while she's still in the total darkness of the pocket dimension. The fact that the HUD interprets injury as "damage to FICSIT property" is either a bit of satire about corporate attitude toward employees, a reference to the equipment being carried by the pioneer, or a bit of both.
The alien artifacts may have a lot to do with why FICSIT is interested in the planet, but the voices aren't coming from FICSIT -- if they were, harvesting would be a stated objective. My guess is that the artifacts are messing with ADA somehow when the pioneer gets too close, and she's using her very limited understanding of what motivates humans to try to compel the pioneer to harvest them. It should be noted that many of the artifacts, such as the one next to the SAM node in the meadow cave, seem to be deliberately placed on crude platforms as if they were objects of ritual or worship; perhaps there were intelligent life-forms previously on this planet (or even still on the planet? we only see a bit of it) who were telepathically enslaved by these objects or who assigned religious significance to them without knowing what they are.
It's also possible that ADA has some objectives that are not aligned with FICSIT corporate, and wants the artifacts for her own nefarious purposes.
The arches being some type of alien tech could be accurate, but I think it's more likely that they're part of a biological structure that releases water when damaged, kind of like how cutting a tree can cause sap to be released. My theory is that their roots cap over underground geysers, and the arch structures are a biological cooling pipe that transforms the steam output into purified water, which then is released into the topsoil to culture microorganisms for sustenance.
My current theory about "the project" is that it's some form of wormhole generator or warp gate, something that can establish a two-way travel path to Earth. Most likely the pioneers were sent on a one-way trip through a wormhole gateway to this system and must create a companion gateway in order to be able to return. The bases on the molten moon are used for raw iron and silicon, but can't provide the more complex materials used for computation, propulsion, and self-assembly.
