What is heard here, anyway, is the album version, but the flip side of the "Let It Be" '45' is the Beatles' 'humor piece', "You Know My Name (Look Up the Number)" - almost the entire lyrics are that phrase, or parts of it, repeated over and over, with different styles for different sections of the song.
The Beatles are a group you have to get into by their albums. They predate the music video time. They stopped touring and went into the studio. They recorded 3 songs a day, 20 a week. I think the very hardest thing for you to judge, given your age, is how much of what they were doing then had never been done before. I've been hearing the Beatles since I was about four. I remember standing in the lobby of a school where my father taught, spinning in lazy circles and letting my skirt swirl out, listening to a Beatles song--I think it was "Yesterday." If you listen to the entire Beatles works, you can hear them pick up where Buddy Holly, Elvis, and the Righteous Brothers had settled--and from that point completely invent a much, much larger genre of music starting from nearly a bare-earth foundation. They explored so many possibilities, and invented so many new ways of sounding. They opened the door to a MUCH larger range of themes and topics, helping move pop music out of love stories and folk-music protest songs into fascinating narratives about ordinary people. Any idea could become a song. And any structure that worked, was fine with them. By the time they were done, they'd taken everyone else to church. When you listen, remember--if their music ever sounds even remotely familiar or underdeveloped to you, there's a good chance that it's because they were inventing it. The Beatles are to pop music what Shakespeare is to all of English literature. If Shakespeare ever sounds cliched, it's not because he was lazy or lacking imagination. There will be a lot of very good groups and bands, and I like a lot, like ABBA, Bee Gees, E.L.O., Queen, but the First, the Greatest and the Most Important were and will be THE BEATLES
One of the songs I get goosebumps to, amazing.what I love about their songs is the vast variety, every song is so different, legends all RIP John, George....

The Beatles are the bestselling music artists of all time, with 19 number one hits and another 30 top ten hits and sales at nearly 1.5 billion units. It's incredible. You should switch it up and react to one of their hardest hits that is considered one of the first hard rock songs, "Helter Skelter." They weren't all peace and love. Mostly. But not always.
It's surprising that they still are. They should really adjust those things for population density and things like that. I mean if we had the population we have now at that time the sales will be a lot higher LOL

Hey Bro, good stuff. Something you said made me think about my own influences. I'm an old dude. My parents were from the Lawrence Welk generation. All of my influence was from my generic brother who is 9 years older than I am. He introduced me to The Beatles way early in my life. Like you, I was also a drummer from way early one in grade school. Did High School band, was even in a Drum Corp for a while. Thanks for all of your reactions. I like it when you cover this old stuff.
I am from the Beatles home city of Liverpool in the UK and they will be for ever the greatest band in all of history.. Mr Zevon you have only scratched the surface of a great mine of joy and happiness that listening to the Beatles can bring. Some of my favourite songs are Penny Lane, Here comes the Sun, My guitar gently weeps and Norwegian Wood. Some of there best songs where not released as singles and where album tracks only. They did this so if you bought there new album you got great value as it was not only chart songs on it but amazing original content.
I love your honesty. Don’t feel you have to please everyone, because that doesn’t work anyway. I’m glad you like this song - It is one of my favorite songs by The Beatles.
Wow...newfound respect to you, my friend for being on a drum line in your youth! I'm a huge drum corps fan. Anyways....great reaction!!! This is a beautiful song, expertly executed. Never apologize for liking a Beatle song. Just shows you know talent when you hear it!
They changed the world with their music and they dared to shake off the chains that held people down! They took that tiny seed of rock and roll and grew it into a giant tree that bore the fruit of all the bands that followed. They set the example for all the bands that followed who could never measure up to what they accomplished!!! Whether one likes it or not, this is TRUE!!!
its so funny to hear you say "so far ive been impressed"... dude .... they are the gold standard by wich everything else musically is measured.... good to know they .. "impressed you".... lol...i know your a good dude... im just playin a lil.... i think a great idea for you is to do a deep dive .... for yourself.... they are the foundation upon alot of rock-n-pop is built.... seriously The Beatles ARE IT!!!!! peace... and let it be....
It's not just the songs The Beatles woke up the boomers to the possibilities of rock music, the fashion(or anti- fashion), of cultural mores. The whole counter culture was begun during the British Invasion.
Beatles one of those great groups that kept growing and changing and exploring as the time went by. Never stagnated. From 'I want to hold your hand" to 'Within without you" Then, it was time for them to go their individual paths, and each one was fantastic in his own way. They were all dynamic musicians..all about growing and exploring their art and live of expression. If you take that yellow submarine trip down into their music on your own time or here, I don't think you will regret it. PS love the Cameo album in your background, have asked a lot of reactors to do them, but have only seen one do one song. Love and peace
Beatles deniers tend to be people who are into a specific genre. Blues, Rock, Hip Hop, soul, and so forth. What makes the Beatles challenging for many is that they don't fit into a genre. They drew from many musical sources. They are fearless. I hope you discover the variety of influences they brought attention to. Let it Be, for instance, draws inspiration from Gospel and English church hymns. Have fun exploring their catalog!
Nice! Love the Beatles. I had the 45 of this song, for those of you who know what a 45 is. I played it repeatedly on my, Ready?, Show and tell record player, Bwahahahaha. It's hard to pick a favorite. I love so much of their music for so many different reasons. Great reaction.
To really get the Beatles, it's good to listen to some of their albums. Revolver, Abbey Road, and possibly Sgt Peppers are almost perfect albums. They almost never have anything but really high quality songs on their albums, something that almost no other band has been able to achieve with the same level of consistency and creativity.
Written about Paul's mum, Mary, who died when he was 12. I am a raving Beatles fan and they are my top band ever, tho I love others, I adore the Fab 4 and always will. Seeing the songs through fresh eyes and ears is very inspiring and gives me hope that the great music of the past is going forward to another generation and is not lost.
okay--you've convinced me. I've had a simple how-to video for beginners to play this song on the piano ready for months, but it's one of those things i always figure somebody could learn somewhere else so i don't bother. But this is a song YOU, Chod, could play. And you already know rhythm/drums. It's a basic progression with a beginning accompaniment pattern that's simple yet authentic and versatile to so many other tunes. I should just do it already. I performed and taught for years, but i lost my memory a few years ago so i haven't been confident about teaching since then. I'm suddenly realising it's silly to keep avoiding it. Plus it'd be awesome to see you master a new skill/instrument. You do lots for your viewers--it would make me feel less like a slob if i gave something 'back'.
The “Let It Be” lp was produced by the late Phil Spector. It was their final release, but not their last recording. That was “Abbey Road”, produced by the great George Martin, who produced all their other material. The Beatles didn’t release “Let It Be” prior to “Abbey Road” because they weren’t at all satisfied with the final product. Obviously, it was eventually released. There are alternate versions of that album’s material. For example, the strings in “The Long and Winding Road” were later stripped from the Phil Spector version and song remixed.
Paul was that Phil Spector did that to their album. It was without their permission and Paul wrote some sort of contact or something explicitly stating that permission was to be given for any changes were made. Fortunately we now have the Let it be, naked CD.
I would like to suggest that you look into some of their live performances. They have been all over TV and have many concerts that were recorded. Coming from a musical family I bet you would appreciate how professional they are about working the mics. You should see that. Im a strings musician and all I work on is Beatles stuff. They recorded and released some 214 songs. I think you should do them all. You deserve to hear every Beatles song at least once.
I'm a 61-year-old white man who grew up in Western Kentucky and the Beatles were rarely played on radio around here. This area was and is more into hard rock.
I’m amused that someone would expect a young person, particularly a young black person, to be familiar with music over fifty years old, however popular it has been. For example, when I was twenty-five, in 1979, I was not very familiar with pop music of the twenties, for sure. Give the young people a break.
"Pop" music did not become a genre until at least the mid-1950s. Popular music of the twenties (or from any other era) was largely jazz-based, and certainly NEVER had the impact on the world, and the music business, or the influence on music in the future, like The Beatles did. Nobody should be expected to be familiar with popular music from the twenties. EVERYBODY should become familiar with the music of The Beatles.
Thank you for your reaction! The Beatles were the first true original artists. They were so talented and had a variety and richness to their music that no other band has ever had, and they were so influential to most of the music and popular culture that came after them. They had hits and they had misses. They had songs that were brilliant and some that were far from. They had songs you will love and they had songs that even the most ardent Beatles supporter does not enjoy. I know you will enjoy the journey!!
Paul was writing about an actual experience he had in his early fame when his mother came to him in a dream helping him through a crises he was facing.

just two months after BEATLES 'first visit to the U.S.A. and their presentation on Ed Sullivan show, the entire Top 5 was from BEATLES:
"Can’t Buy Me Love"
"Twist and Shout"
"Ella She Loves You"
"I Want to Hold Your Hand"
"Please Please Me"
and after separating, their four members had successful careers as soloists or with their new groups.
There will be a lot of very good groups and bands, and I like a lot,
like ABBA, Bee Gees, E.L.O., Queen,
but the First, the Greatest and the Most Important were and will be
THE BEATLES
One of the songs I get goosebumps to, amazing.what I love about their songs is the vast variety, every song is so different, legends all RIP John, George....
Beatles, “Here Comes The Sun”, “Come Together”, “The Long and Winding Road”, “ Eleanor Rigby”, and 100 more. Beetle fun songs, “ Rocky raccoon“, “Piggies”, “Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da”, “Birthday”, remember “All You Need is Love”
@@wendylynn4318 The Beatles are still one of the bestselling artists today. Every year they sell a bunch of records. No adjustments are necessary. They've sold more albums and records than anyone else.
20 number 1s in US. 21 in UK.
The Beatles, and Led Zeppelin the two most influential bands of all time! 😎👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
The whole Album Must be done! The Beatles enough said 👍✌️🇺🇸🇬🇧🇨🇦
One of the greatest songs of all time!!!!
I’m so glad you got to listen to this gorgeous song written by Paul McCartney. Please don’t miss his Hey Jude written for Johns little son, who was so sad when his dad decided to leave his wife and him, and marry Yoko Ono. There are so many fantastic songs, some of which I’ve already told you about. Don’t forget the Rock and Rolly ones like Get Back, Even Rocky Raccoon, if you want some fun ones.♥️ And you’re really missing out not watching them live!,,
Their music never old. Generations to generations. When I hear this song it brings me back so much memories. Happy kid.
They were simply one of the best.
Top selling musicians of ALL time.
O man: so many great songs of The Beatles....... You have to take at least 2 or 3 months of vacation...... :-) :-)
😅😅😉
Wilburn, The Beatles took a journey of creative growth and gave us all a journey of listening.
its so funny to hear you say "so far ive been impressed"... dude .... they are the gold standard by wich everything else musically is measured.... good to know they .. "impressed you".... lol...i know your a good dude... im just playin a lil.... i think a great idea for you is to do a deep dive .... for yourself.... they are the foundation upon alot of rock-n-pop is built.... seriously The Beatles ARE IT!!!!! peace... and let it be....
Appreciate you brotha! Your comment gave me a smile man!
Paul’s voice is everything in this song.
You've done John Lennon and Paul McCartney. Add George Harrison's "Here Comes the Sun" from the Abbey Road album. It is an amazing song.
I grew up with the Beatles at 13 years old. never gets old, thanks for appreciating their sound
I am having all Beatles music at my funeral including this. To add to my isolation, we are now on 5 days isolation due to my daughter's fiancé.There is no better band in the world, they do it all and I grew up in the 60s so their music was everywhere. Please do more Warren Zevon, Mohammed's Radio, Desperadoes under the Eaves; French inhaler, there are so many. Also please can I have a heart from you? It would make me so happy to have one. Love and peace from locked down East Coast of England. x
p.s how do you spell your first name please? Thank you for the music, you and others (Mr Video who I adore, Jamal who I also adore and others. Seeing the songs through fresh eyes and ears is very inspiring and gives me hope that the great music of the past is going forward to another generation and is not lost.
If you liked this, try The long and winding road.
just might be the best song ever
@@rachelwilliams5186 kinda like life!
okay--you've convinced me.
What a thoughtful, heartfelt reaction to a classic. Keep doing you, my friend. Thank you for these.
LOVE TO SEE YOU SMILE!
Especially because I grew up to this wonderful music!
Happy you are discovering true musicians and masters!
Good for you!
Heard Paul sing this in concert in 1990, when he was still young and of fine voice. One of my life's most amazing moments.
Excellent song! Great guitar work by George.
Spector's version is canon imo. Paul can gripe all he wants because it's still true.
Spector didn’t produce it he mixed it.
I like the less known songs like: "Cry for No One"; "when I'm 64"; Paul Macartney's "fool on the Hill"; !It's just another day";
Great reaction man.The Beatles will always be.
Ringo's hi hat coming in is so great...who does that ? Nobody but Ringo. Then the bell hits after the solo...come on! Ringo!
greatest british band ever
This is my very favourite Beatles song!
The beatles greatest music of all time
I'm a 61-year-old white man who grew up in Western Kentucky and the Beatles were rarely played on radio around here. This area was and is more into hard rock.
No other band or artist has so many great songs
Brilliant and a legendary song from the kings of legendary bands!👍🏻❤️☮️✌🏻🎸🎤🎼
Great technical and emotional reaction! Thank you!
Iconic band . . you really should listen to more than just a couple of tracks.
I think sometimes people forget to consider the era some music comes from in order to realize the significance of the creation and performance.
Greatest band ever.
Sound track of my child hood ! Great sounds !
Boy there is so much in this song but to hear George is phenomenal.
Paul was writing about an actual experience he had in his early fame when his mother came to him in a dream helping him through a crises he was facing.
Listen to Hey Bulldog by the Beatles
"Revolution" "Glass Onion" "Back in the USSR" anything of the 'Revolver' LP
Rocky Raccoon
