The 1997-2001 Toyota Camry is the most beautiful car ever made, and this one has a manual transmission. Such a beauty.

That's an excellent point Peter. I hear so many people saying they replaced the EGR but still the same problem. Well yeah, if you have vacuum leak somewhere even with new parts it will still not work.

It is the same 2.2 engine in Camry, Rav 4 and Celica

Rav4 does not have the same engine. It’s very similar.
      1996-2000 Rav4 3SGE engine
and Camry has a 5SGE engine.

What do you call that vaccum gauge and what is the brand name? I like the one you're using that has different color.

will the codes keep a good repair from working bad? Must you clear via the battery un plug since I don't have a code reader? Or can I just fix and drive with chk ENGINE light?

I got one six months ago. 2000 model. All the rear driver door was banged in a wreck. I bought if from an impound auction without paying attention to the bang. Paid $750 and it has 75000 miles. I must say the first owner abused it because I have seen oil leaking in one spot but performance is top notch. I prefer Hondas 2003 and up to TOYOTAS but man this generation camry has the smoothness of the engine that made me like Hondas. I don't plan to fix the door; just drive it and maintain it. I do my oil changes myself and just got transmission oil, filter and gasket for its first service then service the trans every 25000miles from there. I have several cars but this is what I chose to be my daily hahaha@@bottanoog9545
