The fact that the Jackal checked HIMSELF into the asylum and chose to stay behind when it was on FIRE is just so tragic. Like, man had a conscious and knew his impulses were wrong, which puts him up above most real life serial killers.
One of the first movies I remember watching where I got so into the lore of the ghosts even though not a ton was revealed in the movie. This would be great
Don't know bout the hammer but Jackel would scartch the shit out someone while juggernaut will literally go on to break the bones (quite literally) still thinking who was more terrifying jackel or juggernaut
It’s worth buying this on DVD just to get the background stories of all the ghosts, I have watched it so many times. It would make for an amazing series!
Definitely agree about the Jackal! I went to a haunted house one time and they had someone dressed up like him at the entrance and I IMMEDIATELY started to panic and sweat. They could tell I was scared and once we got our tickets to go into the haunted house he disappeared behind a wall and later jumped out at me and I RANNNN! I ran screaming into a corner and wouldn’t move and they sent in a clown to come help me move to the next section of the haunted house. I was terrified lol
Yes! I love Thir13en Ghosts! The ghosts (and Matthew Lillard) are the best part of the movie! It's funny when watching I don't really care about the family, I just wanna see more of the ghosts.
I have always been fascinated by this movie and its ghosts and there backstories. I'd rank them 12. The Broken Heart 11. The Withered Lover 10. The First Born Son 9. The Pilgrimess 8. The Great Child And The Dire Mother (always thought of them as one) 7. The Hammer 6. The Torn Prince 5. The Bounded Woman 4. The Juggernaut 3. The Angery Princess 2. The Torso 1. The Jackal
Juggernaut is by far the scariest for me…I used to be terrified seeing his face on the poster/DVD cover and then knowing the backstory of his character makes it even worse for me 😭 especially considering he’s like 7 ft tall…NOPE
The jackel and the hammer ALWAYS got me, like pure fear at the sight of them. Thirteen ghost has always been a top favorite/classic horror film for me, the fear I felt as a preteen is something I still feel to this day. Off to watch it on Netflix now!
I love the backstory to this movie. The actual execution for me wasn't as good (not bad, but the backstory and lore is better). Having said that, the F Murray Abraham narrated segments on each ghost are incredible.
I don't know why but something about the way you've put so much thought into how you would handle being confronted with each ghost is really... sweet? That's probably the wrong adjective, but you know what I mean. It shows you really love Th13teen Ghosts.
When you talked about Number 1, I did think that "There's nothing scarier than reality." Having a mental issue myself, I THANK GOD that I was born in this day in age when I don't have to worry about being in an Asylum.
I watched this when I was 11 years old, I absolutely loved The Angry Princess, her introduction scene, backstory and visuals were everything to me. Fantastic video 🤭
I love that there are other people who absolutely love this movie. I know it was critically panned and most horror fans won't say it's a favorite but between the house set design, the ghosts, the mythology of the Eye of Hell machine....etc, I just love it.
When talking about _Thir13en Ghosts_ I always think of _House On Haunted Hill_ as well! I *loved* both of these movies growing up, so I think that I’d quite enjoy seeing you chat about _House On Haunted Hill_ now too! (I must say though, that _Thir13en Ghosts_ is *DEF* my favorite out of the two of them!) Sooo… yeah… that’s my vote! 😊
I literally had to buy these movies, rewatch them multiple times, and watch behind the scenes footage to desensitize myself (and to remind myself the ghosts were just actors in REALLY good makeup lol.) It amazes me that audiences and critics hated them because the concepts and visuals were absolutely horrifying.
I’m so glad to see this movie getting talked about by one of my favorite horror UA-camrs! I used to watch this movie all the time with my cousin when we were about 4, definitely not a healthy age to watch this movie but it will always hold a special place in my heart. I like to think of this as my very first introduction to the horror genre and now the rest is history.
this is such a fun video idea! i have vivid memories of being TERRIFIED by some of these ghosts as a kid; especially the jackal. i remember being surprised to learn the movie was critically panned because it made such a lasting impact on me when i was a kid with how spooky it was. it has a special place in my heart for sure
My personal favourite ghost is The Angry Princess, because she's just so iconic, especially the bathtub scene, and I'm fascinated by her design and backstory. (Also her placement in the Black Zodiac, matches my Zodiac signs placement, which is Virgo)
When I was younger I was too afraid to watch scary movies, then I reluctantly watched this gem with my friends. This movie started my love of the horror genre and now I can't get enough! I have so much nostalgia for this film ❤ thank you Matthew Lillard for easing my transition to horror haha
The Great Child was easily the most disturbing ghost when I was first exposed to the film, I think mostly because of his back story, but also the fact that he's clearly puked all over himself. Amusingly, his actor played another adult baby in Trick'R'Treat during the girl party subplot with Anna Paquin.
I’m so in love that this movie still gets credit where it is due I love her rank. I’d like to share mine based on backstory and how they progressed the movie. 12. The wither lover 11. The torso 10. The great child and dire mother 9. The the first born son 8. The torn prince 7. The bound woman 6. The pilgrimess 5. The broken heart (he is only ranked this high because he was a damn good father) 4. The juggernaut 3. The jackal 2. The angry princess 1. The hammer
This is a perfect video! 13 Ghosts is one of my favorite horror movies ever. All their backstories are so fascinating and I wish they would've been explored more in the movie. Also I had a crush on Matthew Lillard in this movie 🤤
The juggernaut is the most dangerous, but you’re right about the jackal being the scariest looking. The juggernaut not only killed people while he was alive, he kept killing people after he died. That easily makes him the most dangerous, imo.
It's like when you watch a video about food and it makes you crave the dish that's in the video...now I gotta go watch this movie again 🤣. Forgot how much I loved it! 😍
I hated horror movies I was so scared of them having nightmares, I watched this fricking movie ans I became obsessed with the horrro genre.... this movie was honestly the starting point 🤣🥰
LOL, if you do a witch like they did the Pilgrimess, you SHOULD be scared. But as a matter of course, I agree- witches shouldn't be shunned or feared for just being there.
The Jackal could have his own horror movie.... Always scared me the most. The Angry Princess, The Bound Woman, The Torn Prince, The First Born Son, and The Pilgrimess are the most fascinating to me, in terms of, are the truly vengeful, do they feel wronged in some way, are they jealous of the living, can they cross over, do they want to hurt others? They're very fascinating to me, and wish we could stories or small movies to see more of them, before and after death
I agree with all of this, The Hammer and The Jackal are definitely horrifying like if I saw them I would simply just give up and pass out, there’s no chance of survival against them lol. Also thanks for suggesting the movie, I didn’t think it would be so good but I watched it for the first time a month or two ago and I loved it!
13ghosts is a Fantastic remake , From the kills to the uniqueness of each Ghost to where it was taking place just an outstanding movie the cast was terrific as well
It’s so nice to see Thir13en Ghosts getting some love. It’s been one of my favorite movies since I saw it as a kid, and seeing someone else love it as I do makes me so happy. The Angry Princess was always my favorite. I thought she was terrifying and I loved seeing a woman be a proper threatening villain, plus her backstory adds so much depth. It’s really amazing how much thought was put into the ghosts as a whole. They could have just come up with some aesthetically interesting designs and given them vague backstories, but they really went all out.
Great video Sarah! I actually watched this movie because you talked so well about it and I thoroughly enjoyed it! Matthew Lillard is such a fun guy and he shines in this
My favorite comfort horror~ A suggestion to get more content out of the listing. Have two lists up on either side of the screen, and rank into two lists at once. So the left side of the screen might be ranked by Story/Sentimentality and the right side ranked by Pants-Pissing. Double the opportunity, and having it on the screen it's also more accessible for viewers too like tier lists!
Love this. 13 ghosts is also a favorite movie for me. I feel like it be cool if there was a Netflix series each episode going into their stories each episode for one of the ghosts. Feel like there was so much story in 13 ghosts that we missed out on
When I was a kid my cousin and I went through the dvd and wrote down all of their bios and did the same thing hahaha I LOVED that they included this feature. 💞✨ the Angry Princess was and still is my personal favorite, followed by Jackal 🤧
Was so excited to watch this video! Thirteen Ghosts and Ghost Ship are the movies that really locked me into loving horror and are still my favorites today. The Jackal was always the most riveting ghost to me. I also managed to snag some of the Worn Doll shirts from their Thirteen Ghosts collection - so stoked to get them! Btw, I finally watched Triangle and *chef's kiss*. Thank you for sharing horror awesomeness with us!
Nice! 13 Ghosts is super underrated. Saw it theatrically back in the day. There are definitely parts that are a dumb but overall it's a fun horror flick. Impossible to not have fun with it. And it manages to actually pack an emotional punch in some parts. Great art direction, too. The house is a wonderful creation.
A combination of the DVD extra backstories on the ghosts and my older brother being a terrible babysitter made me fall in love with horror. I’m so so so happy you chose to do this tier list! It could be fun to do other killer rankings from anthologies/stories with multiple killers maybe? Like the different killers of AHS or Scream. I know you’ve done AHS as a whole and aren’t a huge fan of the Scream series but just a general idea because I love this video and your tier lists in general.
I seriously love this movie. I watched this as a small child because it was accidentally placed in the bag when my dad rented our weekend movies from Blockbuster. He just handed us the bag when he got home without checking and my sister and I were traumatized for weeks. We slept in his bed for like a month straight. The Jackal was horrifying to me.
I have always thought this film is way better than the amount it is mentioned in horror films discussion. It is very much appreciated and refreshing to see a beloved, popular youtube expert talking about it! 👍
I love this movie. Saw it when I was like 10 and was legit scared to run to the bathroom during the movie bc the Jackal freaked me out. Wish they explored all the lore w the ghosts in the actual movie, you get almost none of that from the movie which is so weird. Remember hearing in 5th grade from someone in school “You gotta check out the dvd they go into all the ghosts!” Was so cool at the time
The Juggernaut traumatized me when this movie 1st came out. I remember telling my mom how much the holes all over him really bothered me (she thought I was just being dramatic lol) and I felt very vindicated when I heard about trypophobia haha
this is one of my all time favourite horror movies. it’s so nostalgic for me too! 🖤🖤 also my top 3 favourite ghosts are the juggernaut, the hammer and the jackal lol. they are by far the scariest!
Somehow I've only recently watched the movie and, damn it's very good. Ngl, a lot of my focus was on Matthew Lillard bc I love him a lot as an actor so I don't really have definitive rankings of the ghosts haha
I absolutely love this video and love the movie as well! What a wonderful video! Thank you for giving me a great, ear to ear, nostalgic smile for today. I hope you have a most magnificent rest of your day! Much love and respect from Tennessee.
I always thought I was the absolute only person who loved 13 Ghosts!! The bonus features explaining all the ghosts were so cool too. The scariest ones for me were always the Torso (I was always terrified at the idea of what would happened if it caught me), the Angry Princess (her eyes always freaked me out, like Event Horizon, my personal scariest movie of all time, scary eyes get me the most) and the Juggernaut because ow my back.
I’m going to be honest this video makes me want to go and rewatch the film again and i only watched it a few months ago - it’s one of my all time favourite movies and one of my comfort movies 🍿
Omg, I remember watching this at my dads cause he recommended it to me when it was on tv. He knew I liked paranormal stuff (ghost adventures anyone!?) I was pretty spooked by it, my dad said 'well I guess it's scarier than I thought'. I was telling my friend about the boy with the arrow through his head. She made fun of me being scared of that, lol!
Bloody love how this gem is still being discussed. It's timeless 🙂😊🥰 I've only heard and read some backstory about the ghosts in the film, so it was cool to hear about the more in depth lore. Had a strong feeling that the Hammer, Juggernaut and Jackal would be the top three. Those three are truly pissed off and seem to not care one bit if they pass their brutal suffering and agony onto others. Can see your point about the Jackal. And that is one heck of a background. Even when I was a youngster, I thought that being down in that basement with a spirit as unpredictable, sporadic and savage as the Jackal would be a real life nightmare which unfortunately, you couldn't wake up from. Cool t shirt 😉
Brilliant movie which is quite underrated so it's good to see it talked about. Like many others I was properly freaked out by The Jackal, fantastic character with a very creepy backstory. I'm always intrigued and scared most by asylum-themed horror movies; it's something about psychosis and being criminally insane that there's just no reasoning with them...
This has been my favorite movie my whole life, I have probably watched it several hundred times and it never gets old for me! I have wished for another remake of this or a limited series on the ghosts background stories like they created in the bonus features on the DVD but in a longer format where each ghost gets an episode. One can only dream! 😂 P.S. I truly love your channel and have been a true subscriber for several years now and I love how you always have stayed true to your niche and what sets your videos apart from others. Xoxo
I think its very fitting that the 13th ghost, is named "The Broken Heart", with illustration of a man piercing his own heart, symbolizing how Arthur is in this movie. Also its kind of irony that a machine designed by the devil requires an act of love, something that Cyrus never had nor understand.
this is a little off topic, but i noticed the vinyls on the self beside you and was wondering if youd ever do a video delving into your music taste and give some album recommendations? your movie recs are always great so i’d assume the same would go for your music recs as well :)
I remember it was 2010 Halloween eve and I was watching 13 ghost on AMC fear fest. After the Friday the 13th series loved it. Juggernaut is my favorite hands down.
Best shirt and video. Needed this on one of my favorite comfort movies and horror movies. Love this 💡 and ranking list. Giving me my early 2000s dose of horror!!!
Somehow as a kid, I always found myself watching horror movies lol. I remember that after watching this film I had the hardest time trying to fall asleep.....and I would always think the jackal was going to come after me. I recently rewatched it as an adult, and nothing has changed lmao...
Absolutely loved this videos ! Some of these ghosts are really h0rrific . I would love somehow in the future to see some spinoffs from them ,especially with your top 4 !! One of the things I love the most about these ghosts is the fact that they all are made with practical effects
When I clicked on the video I immediately noticed how cool your shirt is and started wondering where you had gotten it, so I highly appreciate you putting a link to the site where you got it in the description! :D
I love this movie. Great list and awesome video.I also agree that The Jackal is the scariest ghost. My favorite ghost is The Angry Princess. Blessed Be :)
The jackal was the one to give me that first look-through-my- fingers fright. Later when I decided to watch it for that frieght I fell in love with horror. He is horror to me on some level.
The 2000's was definitely favorite era of horror as well, even though it was the dawn of the horror remake, we had so much variety with horror films to pick. Th13teen Ghosts was one film that didn't traumatize me, but definitely spooked me, the designs of the ghosts were so cool. I guess its interesting that I have both a fascination and deathly afraid of institutions because Dark Castle's House on Haunted Hill was always my favorite film of theirs. Also we need more apparel for the 2000's horror.
This is so funny because it just came out on Netflix last week, and I asked my husband if he liked it, and he said he had never seen it. So of course I had him watch it, and I totally forgot just how much I LOVE this movie! He is also now a fan 🙌🏻
The fact that the Jackal checked HIMSELF into the asylum and chose to stay behind when it was on FIRE is just so tragic. Like, man had a conscious and knew his impulses were wrong, which puts him up above most real life serial killers.
Yesss. Ryan Kuhn was awful but he didn’t want to be :(
Props to him for being self aware ✨
There seriously needs to be a Netflix short stories series on these ghosts.
Or maybe an American Horror Story Crossover...
If they could get Tony Shalhoub in on this I think I'd explode from excitement!
Yes! 13 episodes, one for each ghost.
@@maryXchain Please no, AHS always starts great and then goes to hell midway.
I mentioned the same thing on Twitter early last year. Guess Netflix hasn’t gotten the hint yet. lol
It'd be really cool if they did a mini-series on all the ghosts
I would most definitely watch
😀 👍
Kinda did in the extra features
One of the first movies I remember watching where I got so into the lore of the ghosts even though not a ton was revealed in the movie. This would be great
it’s in the special features yall. it’s narrated by the uncle cyrus
The Jackal lives in my nightmares
Legit. I remember watching this film when it first came out (I was born in '93 for context) and the Jackal still gets to me 😅
Ditto. 😎The Jackal is scary as hell.😨
The last 3 ghost: The Hammer, Jackal and Juggernaut were always the most memorable and terrifying ghosts to me.
Ditto.
Man FUCK the jackal I was terrified as a child haha
Don't know bout the hammer but Jackel would scartch the shit out someone while juggernaut will literally go on to break the bones (quite literally) still thinking who was more terrifying jackel or juggernaut
It’s worth buying this on DVD just to get the background stories of all the ghosts, I have watched it so many times. It would make for an amazing series!
Do I buy any thirteen ghost DVD or is there a specific one to get the backstories.
@@yeseniawalker8197 im not sure, the backstories might be on the collectors edition
Definitely agree about the Jackal! I went to a haunted house one time and they had someone dressed up like him at the entrance and I IMMEDIATELY started to panic and sweat. I ran screaming into a corner and wouldn’t move and they sent in a clown to come help me move to the next section of the haunted house. I was terrified lol
I don’t blame you. The Jackal was terrifying.
The Angry Princess has always been my favourite, I remember her terrorising me as a teen.
Yes! I love Thir13en Ghosts! The ghosts (and Matthew Lillard) are the best part of the movie! It's funny when watching I don't really care about the family, I just wanna see more of the ghosts.
yes but really beuotiful 😍
I have always been fascinated by this movie and its ghosts and there backstories. I'd rank them
12. The Broken Heart
11. The Withered Lover
10. The First Born Son
9. The Pilgrimess
8. The Great Child And The Dire Mother (always thought of them as one)
7. The Hammer
6. The Torn Prince
5. The Bounded Woman
4. The Juggernaut
3. The Angery Princess
2. The Torso
1. The Jackal

I agree but also disagree to some extent. The Torn Knight? A man with a baseball bat is not scary? What the fuck lady.
When you talked about Number 1, I did think that "There's nothing scarier than reality." Having a mental issue myself, I THANK GOD that I was born in this day in age when I don't have to worry about being in an Asylum.

Mine too 🖤you are the 2nd person besides myself I know who says this😁
Sigh...just say that you like her hooters
When I was younger I was too afraid to watch scary movies, then I reluctantly watched this gem with my friends. This movie started my love of the horror genre and now I can't get enough! I have so much nostalgia for this film ❤ thank you Matthew Lillard for easing my transition to horror haha

I love the princess, she's so pretty and haunting.
Great video! One of my favorite horror movies of all time - the Jackal messed me up as a kid, scary AF
I looooooved this movie when I was 14, along with House on Haunted Hill. The Jackal always made my heart race. Absolutely terrifying.
imagine if they made a limited tv series of 12 episodes, where it shows their back story, then they made a remake film!! that would be awesome
You definitely spoke to my “90s kid in a 2000s world” heart 🖤🖤
It's like when you watch a video about food and it makes you crave the dish that's in the video...now I gotta go watch this movie again 🤣. Forgot how much I loved it! 😍

LOL, if you do a witch like they did the Pilgrimess, you SHOULD be scared. But as a matter of course, I agree- witches shouldn't be shunned or feared for just being there.
We are growing in popularity these days... everyone wants to be a witch
The Jackal could have his own horror movie.... Always scared me the most. The Hammer, The Jackle and The Juggernaut have great background stories. The others are good too.
I was looking up this movie because megan the stallion and see u just created a video about it?? what are the odds omg!
I remember watching that movie repeatedly back when it came out. The jackel always scared me the most just because of how he looked.
13ghosts is a Fantastic remake , From the kills to the uniqueness of each Ghost to where it was taking place just an outstanding movie the cast was terrific as well

Great video Sarah! I actually watched this movie because you talked so well about it and I thoroughly enjoyed it! Matthew Lillard is such a fun guy and he shines in this
I love the Jackal, but the scene where the Hammer pulls one of those big blacksmith nails out of his head made him my favorite lol
My favorite comfort horror~

Same girl, same
Ahhh I just watched this a couple days ago because I remember you always speaking highly of it and it was so fun!! Loooove❤️🔥

The Juggernaut traumatized me when this movie 1st came out. I remember telling my mom how much the holes all over him really bothered me (she thought I was just being dramatic lol) and I felt very vindicated when I heard about trypophobia haha
Have you seen the original 13 Ghosts? It's well worth a watch. Always such great content on your channel, well done 👏👏👏
this is one of my all time favourite horror movies. it’s so nostalgic for me too!
I liked this when I saw it in theaters, but when the dvd came out with the detailed back stories on each ghost, it made it even 10 times better!
I’m going to be honest this video makes me want to go and rewatch the film again and i only watched it a few months ago - it’s one of my all time favourite movies and one of my comfort movies 🍿
omg I was ALSO traumatized by the movie poster at the video store as a child! I also begged my parents to rent it so they could tell me about it lol
It's timeless 🙂😊🥰
I've only heard and read some backstory about the ghosts in the film, so it was cool to hear about the more in depth lore.
I saw the original 13 Ghosts 1960. We wore the 3D glasses. Such fun. Now, after your commentary, i will watch the “newer” version.
I never clicked so fast 💨 This is such a great idea. 13 Ghost was so underrated
This has been my favorite movie my whole life, I have probably watched it several hundred times and it never gets old for me! I have wished for another remake of this or a limited series on the ghosts background stories like they created in the bonus features on the DVD but in a longer format where each ghost gets an episode. One can only dream! 😂
Apparently when I was a toddler I loved 13 Ghosts and my favorite was The Angry Princess!
I remember being 9 years-old when I saw this movie, so that's why I used to sleep with the lamp on. It's incredible how your perspective changes.
I have only watched this once so as of right now my fave is the angry princess. I need to watch it a few more times to see if it changes or not.
I NEED A SERIES ON THESE GUYS
this is a little off topic, but i noticed the vinyls on the self beside you and was wondering if youd ever do a video delving into your music taste and give some album recommendations? your movie recs are always great so i’d assume the same would go for your music recs as well :)
I remember it was 2010 Halloween eve and I was watching 13 ghost on AMC fear fest. After the Friday the 13th series loved it. Juggernaut is my favorite hands down.
I'd love to see you talk more about The Ring! It's one of my favorites too
This is so rad! I was just talking about this movie to my friend at work!
I saw this notification at work and was so excited to get home and watch this video. I love this movie, and love your channel ❤
Best shirt and video. Needed this on one of my favorite comfort movies and horror movies. Love this 💡 and ranking list. Giving me my early 2000s dose of horror!!!
The Jackal is the best hands down. Very creepy.
Somehow as a kid, I always found myself watching horror movies lol. I remember that after watching this film I had the hardest time trying to fall asleep.....and I would always think the jackal was going to come after me. I recently rewatched it as an adult, and nothing has changed lmao...
God I was OBSESSED with the backstories on the DVD extra features
Absolutely loved this videos ! Some of these ghosts are really h0rrific . I would love somehow in the future to see some spinoffs from them ,especially with your top 4 !! One of the things I love the most about these ghosts is the fact that they all are made with practical effects
When I clicked on the video I immediately noticed how cool your shirt is and started wondering where you had gotten it, so I highly appreciate you putting a link to the site where you got it in the description! :D
Yes, yes, and YES! I love Thir13en Ghosts so I cannot wait to watch this video!!!
13:05 the tears and old nightmares are coming back ^^ excellent video. The bonuses tromatized me more than the movie 😆, it was so good..
I watched Gonjiam Haunted Asylum!!! You should make a dedicated video speaking about the film!!! I love your recommendations 😭👏
Such a fun idea for a video! I love the characters and your tales on them!! This video is…chefs kiss!
Between the torso and jackal are my favorite.
This is so funny because it just came out on Netflix last week, and I asked my husband if he liked it, and he said he had never seen it. So of course I had him watch it, and I totally forgot just how much I LOVE this movie! He is also now a fan 🙌🏻
