- Опубліковано 11 лип 2024
- In this video, our friend and crew member Austin Higgins of Rock Bottom Cats demonstrates how he ties two easy catfish rigs that everyone should know - specifically the famous Carolina Rig and the great Santee Cooper Rig. He'll reveal how to set up both rigs, when to use them and in which conditions (bank fishing, boat/kayak fishing, etc) and he'll also go over the type of sinker he usually ties to his rig.
Have a question? Let us know in the comments below and Austin will reply. Let us know what topic you'd like us to cover for the next video!

Thank you!
Thanks Chris!
Great video. What baits do you use and recommend?
Your awesome!
thanks man
Comment much appreciated Eric .
Have you ever tried Sinker Slides, they work pretty good and your line never gets worn or chafed from the weight.
I've used this same rig before and I've caught plenty of cats, but may I ask what is the purpose of multiple beads just above the hook? I've only ever used a single bead, and if I'm doing something wrong I would like to avoid any potential mistakes that may cause me to loose a fish! Thank you for the content!
Never mind I see you have!
Always thought the rig with the egg sinker was called a fish finding rig
I think that is the surf fishing name for the Carolina rig.
@@nccatfishing could also be where you live as well I thought the only difference from a Fish finding rig and Carolina rig was the sinkers where the Fish finding rig has a egg sinker so it is free to move some while the Carolina rig used a no roll sink to keep it stationary but either way both are great rigs and both work on a variety of fish
Thanks for your reply
@@bluehenoutdoors3292 very true. Run across that with fish names and a whole variety of things. Tight lines to ya.
Where can I buy a shirt like that ?
I think my wife got it off Amazon. If you type in vintage catfish t shirts there are all kinds of designs like it.
How do you know what size float to use
It is dependent on your bait and how much weight you’re using. Easiest way to check this is in shallow water. Make sure it will float your bait before you cast out while ensuring your weight will hold it to the bottom. Obviously if you’re using 3 or more oz of weight then most floats aren’t going to lift that off the bottom unless you have a lot of current.
Why no braid for your main line? With mono off the swivel? Ur setting the hook on a big ass cat with 8 lb. line? Does that snell help that much with hook ups? Don’t they have really tough mouths? You are in rock so that answers my braid question.
Yep what you mentioned below. Braid has hurt my feelings a few times haha. I’ve got 80lb leader tied to a 30lb moon main line when I’m fishing. To be completely honest I’ve had about the same hookup ratio running my hook tied with a palomar knot. I like to think that the snell does give you a slight edge though and it’s quick and easy to do.
Whats good for bait

Thanks - we’re looking into it.
