Holy shit, this run was phenomenal. Seeing Canals Skip and Crane Skip, first time, at a marathon, is nothing short of beautiful. Bless Phillotrax.
Personal story bout this game that normally people wouldn't get, but I think people actively watching a speedrun of this game may find it relatable:
After a lifetime of having MGS as your favorite series and being guilt-tripped for taking lives away in all of its titles, I developed a personal, constant rule: if a game allows me the non-lethal way, that's the one I'll take.
So, Mirror's Edge - I loved the acrobatic combat and the free(running)dom of movement, I'm a dude that literally sticks to a game if the movement is fun. Spider-Man 2/PS4/Ultimate/Miles, all Just Causes, every Tony Hawk except the phone and mandatory gimmick controller ones, the inFamous series, etc. If simply going around the world is fun and engaging, I'll play that like a maniac. First minute playing ME and it became another one of that list. And sure, I had the _option_ to use guns, but I could go Non-lethal Chan Lee CQC on them dudes. So I played the entire game in my first playthrough without firing a single shot - EXCEPT that dark walkway level with the snipers. I died too much, got my hands on a Sniper myself eventually and, as a sniper main in any shooter game - GTAs, CS, Overwatch, Uncharted, MGS (thank you Mosin Nagant for letting me snipe people from afar without remorse) - you name it. "Revenge time, assholes!" So I added a new objective to that level. Kill all Snipers with a Sniper.
Can y'all imagine my face how I got pissed that if I hadn't done that, I'd get a Gold Trophy? (I like getting achievements and trophies, sorry)
Never had I ever regretted every single shot from a total of mere six or seven in an entire playthrough of a game SO MUCH
And I've played all Metal Gears I could get my hands on, so YOU KNOW that I really strive for complete mercy. Not only I would't've broken my personal rule, I'd also get a Trophy for that. Never something so small and stupid and virtual made me so pissed.

This game about running at high speeds was released in 2008. People started speedrunning it in 2012.
Right? Even when the trophies for the game make you speedrun the game. And I'm pretty sure oven donkey was speedrunning pre 2010, hell even I was any%ing this game on ps3 in 2009. Just not everyone cares about uploading videos.
I've beaten this game so many times but I haven't noticed the button @13:05 !

It's a marathon, dude. That's how marathon speedruns work: by not working and yelding weird results to consistent strategies. Then again, hard as hell strats and unusual, unintentional timesaves happen way often then they do.
