People from all over the world love begleria. Im Greek, living abroad, and I've gifted so many of them because people see me or my husband playing with one, try it out, and fall in love.
So I just found your short by accident.... And I'm literally working on a cord bracelet while doomscrolling. So, now I'm looking for two pearhearts to make my own. :P
I have literally never seen one of these but that's pretty cool. I immediately imagined making one big enough to be used as an improvised bludgeoning flail type weapon that can just fit in your pocket 😂
In Indonesia we call it Lato Lato and it was the most migraine inducing toys ever because they're sold to children as clackers toys, it took my nation by storm and I can't stop hearing them for a like one or two months straight.
The worry beads are similar to "WORRY STONES" you can get them made of a variety of mineral/gemstones, mine was given to me from a friend so i forgot what its made of. You just keep them in your pocket and rub the smooth indent with your thumb. They're mainly flat, like a skipping stone, but have an indent that perfectly fits your thumb.
Oh, I didn't even know that it was a thing. My sister used to have a similar to that but it was meant to used as a hair tie, not for playing. When I got bored I used to played it like that when I was a kid.
I have a dog toy similar to this and for the life of me i coudnt figure out how they tied it cuz theres no visible end anywhere. This video finally showed me
The image kind of reminded me of "Tasbih", which is something that you keep track of your prayers with. It's not like a toy, it's more of something like a watch, or a bracelet. Kind of an accessory, but also useful and used for religious purposes.
Something that is even more rarely mentioned about comboloi is that the real product was actually made from a certqin material and it was used to soothe the hands of those that worked in manual labor compartments , the ones that are made now are made of plastic and are used to pass the time
I’m half Greek and have my own worry beads! They’re absolutely gorgeous but I do need to change the string at some point because the current one makes an awful noise and feeling when you move the beads that makes me more anxious. :(
the knot itself is a "monkey fist knot". it generally is used by seamans on the docks to catch the main rope that moors the boat (the towline). easy to make, and quiet practical to throw and catch. but nice nice tutorial, keep in mine that you can use this knot to creat a key chain too.
you r wrong they r called monkey fist and was used to throw a smaller rope onto the ship so you could pull up the bigger one. Basically to dock the boat.
The older version is still used but not for what you think in middle east and some of Africa they are used for counting saying zikr which is a kind of prayer but I didn't know about the Greek One
It would be cool to get a Project kit for this beglaria biglary thing you are doing - me and my gf are adhd and i just looked at your site and was dissapointed that I couldnt find a Beglaria to buy
I remember a couple years back when I bought a bunch of these because for some reason all the balisong pages on Instagram started uploading tricks with them. They are fun for beginners but I'd just get a trainer knife if you want to get serious and really impress. These were cool tho because you could flip them in public like an autist.
"Originally, it wasn't just a fun toy. In reality Begleri originates in Greece, where it was called Komboloi, and it was a toy." Dude I write my theses like this
coming from a Greek household, I've seen plenty of begleria in my life, but I didn't know about their history. thanks for sharing!

As a greek I can confidently say that EVERYONE IS USING IT EVERYWHERE
As a fellow pen spinner and balison (butterfly knife) flipper, I see this as another skill I can add to my collection
Paracord nunchucks are really fun too

That was beautiful you made that monkey fist look so easy
Day after day of people saying things are "like a fidget spinner" I hope more and more that historians will take mercy on this century.
I’ve only heard of these because some of the yoyo companies I follow also make begleri

They also make steel versions for self defense.
see also: balisong flipping/butterfly knives! (some of the tricks can even (partially) translate between the two!)
I remember a poorly made version called Klakers(?). It got recalled for snapping and shattering windows.

Is there possibly a version with coins?
What tools do you use to make your paracord creations?
I'm not the creator, but my educated guess for this project is two weighted marbles, ~15 ft of 550 paracord, scissors, and a lighter
What music is playing in background?
Instructions unclear, I think I made a chinese rope dart and became a ninja
History repeats itself.
A mini poi. Sell them in NZ as mini fidget poi's they would sell like fire
