Been teaching for a while. I understand when people love their job and feel it so much. The most powerful tool you have as a Teacher is the Love you got for children and teaching! You deserve everything! Stay safe and healthy.
I've been a VIPKID teacher for a month now and love every minute of it!!! I really admire your joyful, kind heart and hope to become more organized and fun like you! You're my teaching role model!!!! Your video saying "you got it" really helped me when I was feeling down about low bookings. Thank you for inspiring me!!!!
Thanks so much for sharing this with me! It just made my day:) I remember being discouraged at first about bookings and then a couple months in it was no problem. It really just takes time, patience and the willingness to do a little extra work at the first (intro video, book me options, opening more classes etc.) You Got This!!!!:)
Hope that you enjoy this video with some clips from my classes taught last week! I'll be showing trial classes next week and how they are run a little different! Don't mind my first time blurring faces attempt! It can only get better right?! Happy teaching all!
I just did a mock class for an interview and when talking about hobbies and swimming I used a swimming cap, but it was too small for my head! I just wanted to use it to make the class more fun, but it slowed me down... I always try too hard..I wish I could just be fun but good instead of fun and clumsy! I liked your video! Your students love you!
Hey Nancy, I'm Chinese, although I was born in America. I currently trying to teach my five-year-old niece (in China) English through WeChat and your videos are very helpful. Thanks for sharing your lessons. I don't think I would have made as much progress without them. Most of all, it has been a great way to connect more with my cousin and niece.
thanks girl, your classes are awesome demos. Im getting ready for my first mock, and watching your demos are a total way to ease my conscious! your great. thanks for all your posts!
This video especially with little Dorcas is something I soo needed earlier today! I had a student who was taking a demo class, also 3 years old and getting the little guy to respond was like... man oh man... trying. Didn't go so well, but saw this video later and it reminded me that there is so much more to still learn, especially with the little ones! Thank you for always bringing such real and relatable stories to the rest of us! Much peace and light!
Thanks for commenting and sharing! It means so much! I know those classes that are one sided conversations! Sometimes they are shy and other times they are just learning. We do our best & hope that the child felt comfortable and happy!:) Keep up the great work Shan.
@@NancyTaylor You are completely right! The one thing that can easily be forgotten is that when we're teaching, we're not showing up for ourselves, we're showing up for the kids, and it's part our responsibility to guide them as best we can. I often felt like I was been pulled through the mud by teachers when I was at school, desperately trying to understand them, but it didn't always pan out. So, I feel it's important to guide rather than lecture. Though not always easy when you're talking at yourself hahaha thanks for the comment Nancy! Your channel is a go to for me! Always appreciate your words of wisdom!
All right everyone, I have two important questions: 1) The online application indicates that I need a Bachelors degree, but not whether or not it needs to be in teaching. Can I still apply, even if I have an unrelated degree? 2) Is it weird that I watched a bunch of these videos, and now I want to be friends with Nancy?
Rachel Phillips...Is it weird that I watched a bunch of videos and think I AM friends with Nancy? 😂 If I had seen her videos first, I probably would have applied to VIP Kid first.
Christina! You got it! My degree is in the same thing! How fun! I hope that you find what works best for you and your family!! I love VIPKID if you can't already tell:) hahaha
Thank you for this video! I am starting to give online english classes through zoom and classroom and I am soc scared because I am so accustomed to writing/drawing on the board to explain things!!
Thank you teacher Nancy! I love all of the your videos but I think this one has been the most helpful since I'm not 100% sure if this is something I want to do! Seeing the real life teaching video is great! keep it up!
Hi, I work teaching EFL for a different company. I am new to online teaching and EFL. Can you give some tips for how to be more peppy? I love your fun attitude throughout the video. I also see that you use a lot of realia, which is super cool. If I don't have realia, do you know any videos you'd recommend me so that I can use more TPR (total physical response)? I'd love some more tips from you. Thank you! From USA
Thanks for the video content! Excuse me for chiming in, I would love your initial thoughts. Have you considered - Millawdon Future Ticket Trick (do a google search)? It is a great exclusive product for teaching children to read without the headache. Ive heard some decent things about it and my BF after a lifetime of fighting got astronomical results with it.
JESUS, I love kids, I'm an English teacher, but I don't know if I'd be able to teach them! They're unpredictable! 😱 And, OMG, I don't know who is cuter: the kids * - * or the teacher ❤️! I'm in love!
You are so cute! I bumped into your video and will be having a demo tomorrow, and I do not have any experience in teaching, so while watching this video, I gained knowledge. You are so fun to watch and I enjoyed your video while watching :) God bless you always!
I just started teaching at vipkid and found your videos! great tips and I can't wait to see your trial class videos! (since that's basically all I teach right now haha) Excuse me while I go eat my lunch at 9am. since I've been up for 5 hours already haha
Hi Nancy, lovely video. Love your background. Especially the picture on the left(your right). Can you please tell me where i can find a World map for kids like yours? If there is one like that online so i can download, and print it out myself. Thank you.
I have looked for it online, and I haven't been able to find it. I bought it at Target when they had their back to school supplies out in August/Sep of last year.
Hi Teacher! Great video, thanks a lot! Learned so much :) I am new at teaching English online to Chinese kids. Hope you can share more like some games I can play with my 5yo/4yo level 1 then some activities for intermediate students too :)
Thanks for the tips on using conversations! I just started teaching small children and I was terrified of acting funny since that isn't really who I am.
Nancy Taylor thank you nancy!!!!....I love your videos!...you are awesome! Im learning a lot from you nancy!!!!.....ill send you an email soon. More power! :-)
Nancy, I am in the process of getting hired with VIPKID and I found you on youtube. You are fabulous! I am learning/relearning a lot watching you. May I ask what equipment and software you use to make your videos and clip them as well as come out so clear? I saw the Ikea lamp and that is on my list of things to get but wanted to know what else I might need. Oh and Little Miss Ava is so stinkin' cute! Love seeing her! My 3 children are older so it is nice to see a little peanut! :)
Stacy! Awesome:) I film on a hand held camera- Canon Powershot G7X that I got at Costco! I love it!!! I edit with Imovie- super simple and free with a Mac computer! Flattered you have been watching my videos & I'm so glad I have been able to help you out on your journey to becoming a VIPKID teacher! It is the best!
ok- after I watched EVERY VIDEO you have on youtube with VIPKID (and some that weren't) AND I WAS HIRED!!! ... 1- Can we be best friends bc I feel like I know you already! 2- Where did you get that super cool black and white map?
Brittany! You rock!! Way to go:) Be can definitely be friends:) I got the map at Target in September when they had their school supplies in the $1-$3 bins in the front. I tried to find it online, but I think that it is seasonal because I couldn't find it....
I just got my certification and applying for jobs, but my goal is to work with VIPkid. In fact it's half the reason why I got certified. Would you be able to share how to land a job with them? Also thank you so much for the videos. I felt so lost before. The theory of english teaching makes it seem so much more complicated than the practical part. BTW you are amazing. Your energy level is a ten and made me see how I can adjust a few things. You are absolutely great. Thank you so much for these samples.
I'm having the same trouble, student no1 is far too young to understand. Her parents won't opt for online very long. It's better one to one, as there is more interaction and less communication problems.
I've been wanting to teach English to my nephews but they live in Brazil and I live in Canada. I was looking for some tips on how to teach over webcam and landed on your channel. I really enjoyed the clip where the kid was counting numbers and you were falling asleep. It was very good. One think I am curious about is what is the App you were using to each ?? And would you suggest some resources like slides and videos?
Hey Nancy! Do you have a video that gives tips on not being fast enough to end your lesson on time? I did a trial class tonight and the little girl was really struggling. I was not able to finish all the slides. what shoudl I do in this situation? Thanks, I love all your videos!
Bailey! Great question! I rarely finish trial classes because you are teaching them how to use their mouse, write on the whiteboard, repeat everything, etc. In the major course classes I keep an eye on the time and give about 1 min. per slide. As you teach more classes you will improve on your pacing a ton! Best of luck, and happy teaching!
amazing! you are great...it takes some time to be comfortable online.....rather than in a classroom. I would guess...and hope. :) I was excited but then fear has stopped me from moving forward. :) I want to do it now. I love your maps...where did you find those?
YES! Do it! There is absolutely nothing to lose. It is not scary at all once you have a couple classes under your belt (Just like starting any new job)! I got my maps from Target. They were at the beginning of the school year in the front where they have all of their special season items. They were $1-$5. Super simple and the color really does help make class more lively!
Sometimes I spend more time than others! Sandy is a very fast student so if there is an interactive slide we may spend 1-4 minutes on it. I would not do that if I didn't know the student beforehand! Happy teaching!!!
I enjoyed the video, would love to see how you were able to access the white board next to you where both you and the student could communicate, choose from the multiple choice, draw etc. I would really like to do that when I begin, but have no idea how I would go about doing that.
Great question. In this video I'm using the platform provided by VIPKid to have access to those features. It is amazing to have that as well as the curriculum done:) I have a guide for those looking into online teaching at www.heynancytaylor.com/teach
Nancy, thank you so much for the video. You were a big help when I first started the process. I just taught my 200th student today. Which webcam are you using? In most of your videos, you don't seem to have a voice delay. Do you know why? I seem to have a lot of voice delays.
Congratulations Paula! That is awesome! I use the webcam built in my Macbook! It works great. The biggest part of the video delay I would think would be your internet connection. I reset my computer before class frequently and also reset my router so that it can have a refresh occasionally too! Hope this helps!
Wow I just love your videos they are full of energy and I get to learn a lot. Thank you for sharing. If possible may you kindly obscure the kids faces a bit more, we can still make out their faces.
I like your way of teaching so much! Can you give me some tips on how to do this with a group of kids. I need to find fun online ways of teaching due to the virus outbreak, so I'm looking for some pointers of teaching a group instead of individual classes. Any insights? Thanks ♥️
Hello. I like the way you teach the kids. I wish i can do it too. I'm going tp teach Korean students and VIPKid seems good. Can i ask for the material you are using?
Nancy Taylor, Happy Holidays and Happy New Year to you and your family. I love your videos and they are really great! I wanted to know what your video camera was that you use? It's really crisp and clear It is a FHD camera? What program do you use to edit your videos? Also what microphone do you use for your videos? Thanks! ;)
Hey David! Thanks so much! I really appreciate your comment and support. I use the Canon Powershot G7X and the microphone that is built into it. I edit on IMovie on my Mac laptop! Here is the camera www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00NEWYE12/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B00NEWYE12&linkCode=as2&tag=themeccom-20&linkId=AHX7PUUZS76KNFU7 Happy New Year to you and your family as well!!
Hi Nancy! I love your personality and have watched quite a few videos as I prepare for my Mock 1 tomorrow. I am curious, do you record every class you teach? I can definitely see the benefit of doing so. Thanks!
Great question! There is a recording that you can view of every class that you teach! You don't have to record your own! It is such a great way to reflect and better your practice!
Hello Nancy, this is Manar an ESL teacher from Egypt. This is a very useful video these days if you know what I mean :)... Can you please tell me what kind of technology or program you use, and if it's better to teach kids individually or within a group, I mean online of course. Thaaaaanks.
Nancy, I know that you are an inspiring teacher and a workout guru. I'm wondering if you have any tips for newbie VIPKID teachers who are beginning to teach many classes in a row. My back hurts and my eyes hurt and my face hurts. Help!
Andrew! Awesome! So glad your schedule is filling up! I stack my computer on books when sitting so that it is eye level! Here is a video on incorporating movement while teaching ua-cam.com/video/YFRLGo_pn7c/v-deo.html Inbetween classes I often to stretches on the floor or I run downstairs to grab a drink to mix it up. This will take up your fill-in-feeback time so plan accordingly! So happy to hear that bookings are going so well for you! Keep it up!
Hey! I got it at Target during this time of year with back to school. I sell maps on my shop for this very reason because they don't always have them available. You can find my maps at www.nancytaylorshop.com
Hello Nancy! You are such a breath of fresh air! I am enjoying your videos! I can feel your passion for your students! I am very interested and would love your assistance. Is Skype needed to join VIPKID?
Thanks for sharing Nancy! And Happy New Year! I enjoy your videos! I'm curious about the students who schedule with you daily. I don't open slots every day yet as I can't. Since each unit has 12 lessons, do students generally want to do a lesson each day or is that unusual? I have a handful of regulars. (I only open the required slots at this time.) I'm wondering if I'm messing up the possibilities of getting regulars by not opening slots daily. Thoughts?
Great question! The student that I see most books 3-5 classes a week & I've been his teacher since I started. I have always had daily slots opened, so I'm not sure if that changes the odds of acquiring regulars. I still will see 1 name every day or other that I haven't taught before, which is nice because you are given the opportunity to potentially add them to your regular list and it helps immensely in keeping your schedule full. I really do enjoy my regular students because we know each other so well! You will get more as you continue to teach!
Great job! The 3 year old is soo cute! you must be a good teacher to have so much responce from a young age. How long do your classes last with this age? I have to start teaching online and feel that one hour online would be too much for this age?
Hi Nancy! I love your videos, you have so much energy! Did you record yourself teaching separately or did you use VIPkids recording? I would like to get some of my videos off but I'm not sure how.
I opened up the classroom that had the recording (4-12 hours after teaching) and then opened up Quicktime. If you go to File it has the option to do a screen recording. I then recorded my screen as the recording played. Hope this helps!
Hi Nancy! All your videos are great and so helpful! I will start to teach kids online and I was wondering how can you show them both your face and the slides? Can the children interact with your slides? Do you use a special program? I only have skype at the moment .. Thank you for any tips you will give me :))
hi i was amaze of how u do teaching..and I planning to start doing teaching online..what can you recommend to teach more easy and kind of extra activities that attract the kids.thank you for these inspiring and motivation video.God bless
My name is fery from indonesia. I am jnterested in this video. I have question to you . What is device that we need to teach by online? Thank you very much from Indonesia.
You need a computer, webcam, headset and good internet. You also need experience with the Common Core taught in America along with a bachelors and 1 year of teaching experience:)
Hello Nancy, this is a great video : ) How can I look for this service? we are from Mexico and I want my daughter to take online lessons to learn English. Thank you.
Hi Nancy, love your videos! I'm about to interview with VIPkids on Monday. I have a random question for you, you mention your daughter is sleeping in the next room when you teach, does she ever wake up when you're teaching? I have a 2 month old and a 2 1/2 year old. I'm worried one of them will wake up while I'm teaching, though my husband will be able to take care of them...Thanks! Marny
Marny! Good luck tomorrow, & I'm so impressed with you starting back to teaching with a 2 month old! That is awesome. My daughter was 6 months old when I started and (before she had a set sleeping schedule) I would leave breaks in my classes (30 min) to go feed her and take care of her if she needed me. She joined some classes in the beginning as well when my hubby wasn't home. As you begin I would schedule less classes until you build a schedule that you feel comfortable and confident with, plus having your husband there to help will be awesome!!! Best of luck!

Thanks - good idea to have badges on your clothes with interesting things on. And I stole your warm-up. Nice
Great video! I love the way your corner classroom enables you to have two maps. The black and white world map is great.
Thanks Andrea! $1 at Target:)

Thanks so much. This video is super helpful! I’m going to teach online tomorrow.
You are soooo good! Can you give more tips for keeping children's attention on you and your lesson pls

YES!
How do you manage to spend that much time on a warm up slide! 😱😱😱😱😱😱
@@NancyTaylor Thank you so much. Will check.
Very CUTE and ENERGETIC teacher!
How can I get those apps!!!! You are an amazing teacher!
Awesome! VIPKid creates all of the curriculum! eslkidstuff.com has some great lesson plans if you want to check out that website:)
Here is the camera www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00NEWYE12/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B00NEWYE12&linkCode=as2&tag=themeccom-20&linkId=AHX7PUUZS76KNFU7
Happy New Year to you and your family as well!!
Hi many thanks for you
Thaaaaanks.
Hey Alexandria! I teach on VIPKid's platform, but if you are tutoring on your own I would recommend using zoom! You can do small group or individual:)
Here is a video on incorporating movement while teaching ua-cam.com/video/YFRLGo_pn7c/v-deo.html
Inbetween classes I often to stretches on the floor or I run downstairs to grab a drink to mix it up. This will take up your fill-in-feeback time so plan accordingly!
So happy to hear that bookings are going so well for you! Keep it up!
Lovely teacher.
Hello Nancy I loved it!
I can't find the map you have on your left though, the drawn one without color :C I need it
Tanya! Thank you! We use skype for a backup through the interview process, but your classroom is completely different.
Thank you so much, Nancy!
How do you have such professional looking lighting...ALWAYS?!?!
Hahaha! LED lightbulb creates that white light! I just thought that I was saving energy and money, but it actually creates great lighting!
Sweet! Thank you!
I love the way you teach and this was really insightful! Thanks Nancy.
Just had my recorded interview. I'm so nervous!!
How did it go?!!
I passed the first interview!!!!!!! I'm so pumped!!!!
Thanks for all your help with the videos!! They definitely helped me succeed :-)
Way to go!!!

Hi..i am Sandy, An Educator from India..I want to teach few topic related to Engineering subject ...please help me
Hello! I work with those teaching ESL Online, but I wish you the best in your teaching adventures!!
Great job! The 3 year old is soo cute! you must be a good teacher to have so much responce from a young age. How long do your classes last with this age? I have to start teaching online and feel that one hour online would be too much for this age?
Amazing Nancy ❤️ I wanna know more materials namely programs can help me for online teaching ?
Thanks 🌸
Hey! You can snag my foundation course Teaching ESL Online at www.heynancytaylor.com/teslo
It does, very much! Thank you!
Hi Nancy! All your videos are great and so helpful! I will start to teach kids online and I was wondering how can you show them both your face and the slides? Can the children interact with your slides? Do you use a special program? I only have skype at the moment .. Thank you for any tips you will give me :))
VIPKID has a platform that does all of that for you! Shoot me an email for details! I'd love to help you out! nancytaylor6262@gmail.com
Great classes Nancy. How long are your classes for children?

Can you do a video on how to teach English vocabulary by zoom on preschool?
I would love to do a zoom walk through! It is on my list for December! Brilliant!
I really loved your class. How do you get those slides for your kids?
Your video helped me a lot! Thank you, take care! :3
So happy to hear! The footage is from a platform called, VIPKid, and they have all the curriculum and host the teaching platform for their teachers!
This is specific for teaching for VIPKID. If you are teaching on your own you could use Zoom or Skype.
Great teacher
Hello Nancy, this is a great video : ) How can I look for this service? we are from Mexico and I want my daughter to take online lessons to learn English. Thank you.
Hello! Right now VIPKID only offers classes to Chinese students.
Hi Nancy.
Are you teaching English yet?
You are amazing teacher.
I enjoyed your video and enthusiasm. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching and commenting Zech! I sure appreciate it!
