HI Nancy, these are great tips! Especially the point about speaking slow. I think everyone gets very nervous when in an interview and it's easy to start speaking really really fast from nerves. Perhaps I'm confused, but isn't what you're describing as TPR actually simply body language? To be TPR, doesn't there needs to be a physical response from the student? en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Total_physical_response

Thank you! #6 was the one I wasn't my best on--mostly because I was nervous-and feedback was I needed more consistency and repetition to avoid being confusing. Hey yaw--be sure you use your 30 mins to practice switching slides through your transitions, circling, and underlining--my stuff was everywhere! LOL

I’m glad I’ve been seeing these videos. It’s helped me decide that this isn’t really for me. I’m a mother and currently a teachers aide for adult students, but I wouldn’t say I’m overzealous like this, bubbly or even high energy even though I love what I do and I connect with my students well. I believe I’m more adept at dealing with older clientele. Just a thanks on the heads up for what it would take.
A M you may still find a good space at VIPKID with the older students. It is a very different classroom and not every class I teach is this energized. Much more for the younger students who need that extra engagement, but I know that ITutor teaches adults if you haven’t looked there! Hi Nancy. Thank you for your helpful videos. I have already taken the online quiz. The three questions that I got incorrect were worded very confusingly. There were also many grammatical errors, making those three questions more confusing. Regardless, I am now moving on to the interview part, unless you advise to do something else about the online quiz. Next, is the interview. Here are the questions: Q1: Tell us a little about yourself! (About 1 min) (Where are you from? What kind of teaching experience do you have?) • Q2: Use TPR (total physical response) to teach (30 seconds): • The word bicycle to a 5-year old who does not speak English. • The sentence “I see a bicycle” • Q3: Prepare and teach the following slide using ESL teaching techniques. Imagine the student is a 5-year old. (about 1 min - 1:30min) This is a review slide. The teacher pronounces each word and prompts the student to circle the picture that starts with M. TIP: T pronounces each word (mouse, elephant, and monkey) and prompts S to circle the right picture of which initial sound matches with M. Why does this seem so easy but yet so hard. :P I was never like this in my esl class and i was one of the coolest teachers and most informative teachers.

I’m glad I’ve been seeing these videos. It’s helped me decide that this isn’t really for me. I’m a mother and currently a teachers aide for adult students, but I wouldn’t say I’m overzealous like this, bubbly or even high energy even though I love what I do and I connect with my students well. I believe I’m more adept at dealing with older clientele. Just a thanks on the heads up for what it would take.
A M you may still find a good space at VIPKID with the older students. It is a very different classroom and not every class I teach is this energized. Much more for the younger students who need that extra engagement, but I know that ITutor teaches adults if you haven’t looked there! Hi Nancy. Thank you for your helpful videos. I have already taken the online quiz. The three questions that I got incorrect were worded very confusingly. There were also many grammatical errors, making those three questions more confusing. Regardless, I am now moving on to the interview part, unless you advise to do something else about the online quiz.
Next, is the interview. Here are the questions: Q1: Tell us a little about yourself! (About 1 min)
(Where are you from? What kind of teaching experience
do you have?)
• Q2: Use TPR (total physical response) to teach (30 seconds): • The word bicycle to a 5-year old who does not speak English.
• The sentence “I see a bicycle”
• Q3: Prepare and teach the following slide using ESL teaching techniques. Imagine the student is a 5-year old. (about 1 min - 1:30min) This is a review slide. The teacher pronounces each word and prompts the student to circle the picture that starts with M. TIP: T pronounces each word (mouse, elephant, and monkey) and prompts S to circle the right picture of which initial sound matches with M.

Why does this seem so easy but yet so hard. :P I was never like this in my esl class and i was one of the coolest teachers and most informative teachers.
I liked VipKid but, after some time becomes tiresome. you should try DadaABC www.dadaabc.com/teacher/landing?referrer=k3g7J5G96b, the payment is good and work schedule is far more stable. You can decide your own schedule and they take charge of the bookings.
