    Great review and a pleasant change from some professional reviewers who go on about scratchy plastics in hard to reach places and compare every car to the German brands.

    I have the 2.0 Superb Estate 2013 model. I’ve owned it for 4 years now and I’m responsible for 40,000 of the 82,000 miles it has on the clock. You’re review is excellent and reflects my ownership experience right down to the tire noise on the fat wheels! I can add that servicing is very cheap, nothing goes wrong with this car (touch wood) and the usual perishables are very well priced. The car feels tight and as good to be in as it did 4 years ago. I’d normally be itching for a change now but the everyday practicality means that I’ve decided to just keep it (and keep the monthly payments I’d normally be shelling out). Why not?

    I have 2017 L&K combi.. with extra optipns, including Sunroof. I bought it new and it now has 392,000km . Still tight and drives and looks like a new car. I am just about to order the new 2024 L&K combi will every extra option i can get. I will try to keep the one i have as a second car.
    Truly a Superb machine !

    Great honest owner review this! I was mega shocked when you said you were getting a Skoda after the eclectic mix of cars you've had but I have to say this car is a lovely spec & well thought out!
    Mega thanks for the shout out, I hope we can get some ace footage!
    See you soon buddy, great video!

    Had the same as you. Now got a SEL with extras. Both were auto and estate. Great machine, even managed 70.6 mpg a couple of times. Only complaint, not serious, is the steering turning circle is poor. Not as good as a Rover SD1 I had many years ago. However would highly recommend it as a quality comfortable excellent car. Thanks for your good genuine review.

    Thanks for the comment on the Superb L&K. I have a Brown one '18' model, really the same as yours. Your review was VERY accurate and I agree with all you said. Only problem I found was trying to fill the AdBlu next the fuel cap. You need an extra tube or filler funnel to get access. Great machine otherwise. Cannot fault it. A dealer could not offer me a high enough trade in to change it. Thanks again for a real honest review. I really enjoyed it.

    I have a 2016 L&k diesel estate , I leave it permanently in eco mode . It never switches to another mode on startup ! Whether the newer models have changed this I don’t know.

      Thanks so much for watching and the kind comment. The Superb is - well - Superb indeed! The gearbox fitted to the car I had (I no longer have the car in the film) was the 7 speed, not sure whether this is the same on the 2016 car you have . Looking on Briskoda forum there seems to be a lot of debate about the change over date to the later DQ200 gearbox…especially around 2016. But overall having to push Eco every time I drive the car certainly didn’t spoil the experience. 👍🏻

    Brilliant cars. I had a Skoda superb a few years ago as a daily runaround to keep the miles off my f80 m3 comp. Of all the cars I’ve had over the years I can genuinely say I’d 💯 buy another superb

      Thanks for watching the video and taking the time to comment, much appreciated. The Superb is a truly underrated car and the only reason I didn’t get another was that the list price of another L&K was the wrong side of the “luxury car tax”. And I wasn’t prepared to pay it! The Octavia VRS which I now have was the right side of the threshold…

      Thank you for your kind comments. Interestingly I ended up changing the Superb for a BEV! When I got the Skoda the Superb and Volvos were both on the short list and in the end I went Skoda as the servicing and parts prices (should they ever be needed) were less than the Volvo bits. I had no regrets at all about the decision to go the Skoda route but don’t think you’ll go wrong with either option 👍🏻

    They are very sensible cars. So much so that they make a lot of other cars look there'd be no sense in buying them.
    A couple of minor points. Have you checked the onboard computer MPG readings against brim to brim calculations to see how accurate it is?
    Ditto the speedo against a plug-in sat-nav (or some other accurate speed calibration method)?
    As for electric cars vs diesels. For local journeys around your home, EV's are fantastic. For long trips, eg Scotland to London, recharging is a nightmare for time and cost.

    • @WolfiesWheels
      @WolfiesWheels  3 місяці тому

      Thanks for watching and commenting. They are truly superb! I didn’t bother to do the checks you mention as I thought that as long as I was using the same basis for measurement consistently I would be able to spot any upward or downward movements.
      I no longer have the Superb, but have for the past 3 years run electric cars. I have to say my experience does not reflect your experience/comment on long journeys - although of course it does depend on what car you buy so what charging infrastructure is available to you and at what cost. But I do 100% agree they are not for everyone, I’m no EV evangelist, but they certainly suit our needs..

  • @colingoode3702
    @colingoode3702 Рік тому

    Best estate car bar none. Previously I had a 2010 170 diesel Superb estate (previous model) & kept that for 7 years & 170,000 miles & regularly got 65-70mpg on my 80mile round trip daily commute. When I retired I got 2016 280 2.0litre petrol L&K Superb estate which has 4 x 4 & DSG as standard. I bought this at 2.5 years old & 20k miles for less than half what it cost new. It now has 56k miles on it & apart from a water pump & thermostat it's been faultless. The 280 is a really quick car & a bit of a wolf in sheep's clothing with a 0-60 of less than 5 secs (I have had the ECU chipped so it now has 370bhp & 488Nm torque). I can live with the 26mpg around town & 36mpg on a run because these days I do under 8,000 miles a year. The 280 petrol engine (same as what's in the Golf R) also needs 99 octane fuel for best results. On my 2016 L&K model the last driving mode setting is retained in memory so that's something that changed on your 2019 model. I could not get on with the Eco coasting mode setting which provides no engine braking at all which made it difficult to judge when to lift off the throttle when approaching roundabouts & traffic lights. I run mine in sport mode most of the time unless the road surface is really bad when I change the damper settings to normal or comfort. I also have the lane assist turned off. As you said this is a really practical well made car which is just as happy cruising up & down motorways, transporting flat packs from Ikea or, with 5 people on board loaded up to the top with camping gear & roof boxes for trips to the south of France. Best car I have owned to date & I'm not sure what to replace it with when the time comes. For now I'm going to hold on to it until someone makes an EV estate car that can do everything this one can. The problem is when they do make one it will, like all EV's, be a silly price. Subbed & liked.

      Thank you so much Colin for watching the film and telling your Skoda experience. And also for subscribing, it is much appreciated and I think you have become the 500th subscriber! The Superb is a truly awesome car, sadly I don’t see a similar electric Estate being made as apparently we all want SUVs now…..which is interesting as everyone I talk wants an estate in preference to a SUV. I no longer have the Superb and still regret selling it, after 2 years without a decent estate car I have recently got an Octavia VRS estate - film to follow in 2023. I would have loved another L&K Superb Estate but to get a car like the one I had would be £47k which is more than I’d want to spend, plus falls into the stupid “luxury car tax” bracket. For the 5,000 miles a year I’d do in it that is a lot of tax! Enjoy using your Superb, sounds one cool car👍🏻

      @@WolfiesWheels It seems that all cars are too expensive when new which is why I buy mine at 2-3 years old & keep them for a while to minimise the depreciation. The Octavia VRS runs the Superb a very close 2nd as an estate car & is cheaper. I will dip my toe into the world of EV's next year when we hope to replace my wife's car with a 5 door hatch EV. Again I will be looking for a used one but at the moment not sure what to go for.

    I have a 17 plate L&K. 96k miles, 36k of which are mine. Be wary of the front shock absorbers, that 'mist'. By Mist, I mean, actually leak. They are alarmingly expensive to replace due to them having the ride control damper system. I never use the ride control, as it is boaty and wobbly in comfort mode, and a bit stiff in sport mode, so annoying that a system I don't use has just nailed me£975 to replace two shocks!!!

    • @WolfiesWheels
      @WolfiesWheels  2 роки тому +1

      Wow, that’s some expense! How has the car been otherwise for expense/reliability at almost 100,000 miles?

    • @jonhunter8737
      @jonhunter8737 2 роки тому

      @@WolfiesWheels I bought it at 60k, and has done nearly another 40k with decent mpg. The shocks are the only expense I have had. I enquired of Skoda in Liverpool, they wanted £369 each for the front shocks. Thomas Fish in Lincoln would deliver them to me for £329 each. My mechanic sourced them from someone in Liverpool at £330, so wasn't going to argue. Garages don't like you showing up with your own parts. Reliability is fine, never not started, never had any annoying things, like DPF problems, but then I do regular motorway journeys, so expect not to have any. I will keep my eye on the EGR valve, almost all manufacturers have issues as they coke up. Taking them out and cleaning them every 50 k seems to help. My previous 2 BMW E46 3 series got to around 90k then fell apart. Litterally! Exhausts, brake pipes, brake callipers, in fact, the whole brakes system was fundamentally renewed over a 5k period at 120kish. BMW means Burn My Wages! Oh yeah, my fan assembly failed too, £560 for a 20 minute job!!!!!!

      Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. Much appreciated 👍🏻. Sadly I no longer have the Superb, it ended up that we had too many cars and the Superb had to go. I think I regretted it within a couple of weeks, it truly was one of the best cars I’ve ever owned. I do look on Autotrader frequently to see if it is up for sale as I’d be very tempted indeed! I would not hesitate to recommend one, and if you are looking to see what might be problematic then there is a forum Briskoda which is a great resource. I suppose the only thing to bear in mind though is that people generally post their problems and issues on forums so it is easy to get the impression that they are nothing but trouble - which is not true. I also sold my Morgan, as that was definitely a lot of trouble….which was very sad for me as I’d sacrificed a lot to buy it. But I do accept mine was the exception and not the rule. When it was running properly it was a delight, and so much fun. I hope you have a great summer of fun with yours 😀

    I couldn't care less about 0-60 as long as a car is safe to overtake in when you need to. I would like to find a car with good mpg and proper fold flat seats and no loading lip like my Avensis Estate.. Is this it? I don’t have the car any longer so can’t check on boot lip but recall it was a fairly flat floor. Would you get 2 assembled 6 foot book cases in it? I don’t know, I would expect that you could though. The car was plenty punchy enough for safe overtaking and MPG was exceptional. Definitely worth looking at one to see if it meets your needs. 👍🏻

      Hi Mini Eggs. I wear jeans just about all the time and haven't had any problems with them staining the seat. I had a local valeting and detailing company do some protection work on the car when it was new. They put 2 coats of Gtechniq L1 Leatherguard on the leather. Now any stains can be wiped away with a damp cloth. The valeter looks after the car on a monthly basis and cleans the seats with Doctor Leather wipes. Hope this all helps!

    Our 2015 SEL Exec 2.0L estate is better than later models in two key respects...
    1) The engine is ULEZ e5 so no ad-blue
    2) the infotainment system has 8 physical menu buttons which are much easier to use than a full touch screen. I would not 'upgrade' for that reason alone - touch screens are a fundamentally unsafe 'feature' of modern cars - the sooner manufacturers wake up to that fact the better.
