I think a Superb estate is the ideal car for dogging. Back seats down, big enough for a mattress. Nice big windows for the viewers. Leave it in that spot once it's ready and it'll definitely sell.

I'm typing these comments as I watch. Yeah, the air vent matters. To me, the inside of the car is more important on a car like this. I could live with the scratches as I'll only get more on rural Devon roads, but the inside has to be nice or it would annoy me every time I get in it. Sell it to a horse person or someone rural and the outside won't matter as much. Happy Christmas Matt and a prosperous New Year to you!

I would say the dent by the filler flap was done by the rear corner of a small flatbed truck or trailer whilst turning. I have a similar shaped dent on an offside rear door of a Mondeo which was done whilst parked on the roadside.

I love the superb so the fact that this lovely car has been so badly neglected really ticks me off. Me and my Mrs do quite a bit of camping so the fact that those things have such a cavernous load area even with the seats unfolded makes a used one a very tempting proposition.....I may be talking myself into getting one lol. Thanks for a great video and I wish you and your many fans a very happy 2022.

I was waiting for this video! That 1.6 TDi is not a bad engine. A bit industrial for an ocean liner like the superb but it does the job. I agree that the margin could be close on this one, but all in all a great car. PS: Definitely(eyeball )Halogen headlights fitted on that model (Manual height adjuster is next to the light switch). I would be happy to have that car for that price. Another interesting woodland find! Should think it will be the bodwork on this one that could be the issue that dent by the filler cap might be tricky to get out. If its to be priced at circa 5K think you will need to sort the niggly bits of trim too but should be plenty of second hand spares around. A good valet will make the car look so much better

Hi Matt, just subscribed, great channel. My fiance has a 2013 Fabia estate with the 1.6 tdi engine and regularly gets mpg in the 60's on motorway and A roads. This engine has water pump problems, losing coolant and regularly having to be topped up, even with an improved pump being fitted, so be aware of this. Another thing to be wary of, is some Fabia's (ours included) and some other Skodas have problems around the number plate light where it begins to rust and spreads.

It looks like it is borderline being an auction car, by the time you tot all the pounds required to make it retail worthy, where at the end of the day it is still a high ish mileage big car with a small engine and mediocre spec. I know good stock is hard to come by just now though. Treading carefully with the dosh on this one I would say is required. 👍

Agreed! It's a 10-11 YO car that has been serviced, but needs a fair bit of paint to get it looking nice, as well as a few bits of trim. I honestly would have been reluctant to give them a grand for it, never mind the money being talked about in the video. I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole for over a grand, even if it has just had a new cam-belt.

Crazy how a 10 year old superb with 120k on is worth potentially 5k.
In 2014 (I know, different times...) I bought a 10 year old 3 series estate in decent nick with similar miles for £2.5k.
In hindsight I would have preferred a superb as the BMW was nothing but trouble for the 5 years I had it, although as someone in their low-20's, an estate with beige leather was Werther's enough - I would have received some serious stick in a gold superb!

We have a 110k Octavia Scout 4x4 which has been great. It's a tough car that's ideal for bad rural roads. Bulbs do seem to go on it and the high level brake LED has blown. One fuse gets kind of oxidised every now and then which can throw a lot of lights out but it's an easy fix with a bit of sandpaper. Spare wheel cover is weak and has caved in and the central air vent has gone exactly like your one.

I had the 1.6 and upgraded to a 2 litre. Much smoother and better engine. The 1.6 had all sorts of EGR and particulate filter issues. The 2 litre has now done 363k km with heavy trailer pulling and lots of abuse and still does not use any oil between oil changes which it gets every 30k/2years! The 1.6 used a lot of oil during winter. Would never recomend the 1.6 on such a heavy car. Also the 5 speed is actually geared suuper heavy. At redline in 5th gear this car would do 270km/h if it had the power to pull itself to redline. Load it up with people and you have the must gutless car in traffic.

very informative video. I suppose it depends on what you buy these things for. Estate cars are essentially load luggers and as long as you don't want to get anywhere in a hurry a 1.6L diesel will do the job. | have had 5 VW group cars over the years, A Mk2 GTI which I loved, A Passat estate which was great for a young family, but boring, A Combi which was slow, noisy, thirsty and tiring to drive. An Audi 100 which was very comfortable and easy to live with. My father had an A4 estate which was mind numbingly dull. So Since then I have had BMWs, much nicer to drive, better built, etc. People obviously like these things and judging by the service intervalsthey are probably pretty cheap to run, so somebody will get a car that will drag them and their load around the country sedately but in comfort for many years to come.

I admired the Skoda while in Europe because of the economy of use and wondered why there’s nothing comparable in the states for whatever reason clean diesels have been black listed.

Strangely the impression I got was that this is the sort of car that would be great for me at the price you bought it. I would only do the valet and cam belt and could live with the rest. I would only do the valet and cam belt and could live with the rest. However, it doesn't seem such a good buy for you as there is too much needed to get it to 'retail' condition and your suggested price seems a little high compared to the examples of this mileage that you can find online (even from other dealers). For me, its a shame so many auctions are now trade only!

    My wife’s superb.
2012 Superb Estate the one with 4WD and all options, the engine is just run in at 230,000KM, will keep it till it hits 500K or needs a serious repair.
It still drives great, very quiet and comfortable.

I had the 170bhp diesel with dsg in a hatch, always fascinated by the way the boot could split into a boot or a actual hatch..Very clever. Faultless car, backseat legroom was on par with a limo, and the umbrella in the rear doors which you got for Czech diplomats , fascinating car..👍

Gearbox was brilliant, had no issues with the car at all, ok it was not the fastest car, but for normal driving and trips across Europe it had plenty of room in the rear for leg space. I had no issues at all with it, or 2 other previous Skoda's. Although both of them was manual gearboxes. I had the Superb for a couple of years.

I like the resemblance to Hoovie's garage, a much more sensible and British Hoovie that is, on his quest of putting good, but unloved, cars back on the road. Btw any used car should mandatory come with a photograph of each previous owner in his natural habitat. As a proper Czech, I was driven in zillion Superbs, drove many myself incl. high mileage VR6s, and never seen those parts break as in this one. The owner must have been something special...

At least they left the torch/boot light. When I looked at our car pre purchase (Skoda Superb late mk2 estate) I took some photos and in the boot the light was clearly visible, but on collection it was missing. I provided the evidence to the retailer and they supplied a new one... won't be changing anytime soon as just cleared the pcp... this is one of Skodas finest, even prefer the shape over the mk3.

I wish you luck with this one; it seems like a bit of a dog, though. I would leave the scratches alone, replace the badge and the broken interior trim, inside/outside valet, get the MOT, cross fingers and hope to make £750 on it.
