Fun fact: This was the 100th episode of the show! - The Carl scene you mentioned was a throwback to the first scene with Rick. A parallel. - The RV being swarmed by walkers was a throwback to Rick being stuck in the tank at the end of the first episode. - The walker at the gas station that Rick sees is the a throwback to the first walker we see in the show, Summer (Teddy Bear Girl.) They got the same actor, Addy Miller back to play the walker in this episode. So cool! These were the ones I remembered off the top of my head. But it was a great way to commemorate the 100th episode of the show! Great reaction as always, Dan! 😊
And also I think at least one of the reasons why this feels a little rushed is because this episode is only set a week, maybe even less, after the season 7 finale. Like, it genuinely is straight after each other
This was the shows 100th episode… lots of throwbacks… Carl exactly reproducing the first scene from the pilot…. Addy Miller, who played Teddy bear girl, also played the Walker at the gas station in this episode… and even had the same mouth injury….
DanReadd i hope you see my comment, Rest in peace John Bernecker, he was American stunt performer, on July 12 2017 he was performing stunts on the walking dead, during rehearsal of a stunt, he fell 20 feet 6.1 m onto a concrete floor missing a placed safety cushion by inches, and sustained a severe head injury, he was taken to the hospital and placed on life support, he died from his injuries the following day, and George A Romero was an American Canadian film director, writer, editor and actor, his Night of the Living Dead series of films about zombie apocalypse began with the original Night of the Living dead 1968, he did other zombie films like Land of the dead 2005, Diary of the dead 2007 and Survival of the Dead 2009, on July 16 2017 Romero died following a brief but aggressive battle with Lung Cancer, this episode was dedicated to John and George
This whole season feels like a love letter to the first 7 seasons with the way they shoot the scenes. You should recognize a lot of shots and repurposed locations/props/easter eggs.
I’m honestly relieved to see our group fighting back and doing damage for once. Last season was depressing to see us constantly losing and getting put down. I’d just be sad if we just kept losing again and again especially on the first episode
This episode was the 100th episode so they did quite a few things to alude to the first wpiade like Carl walking around and looking under the car like Rick and having the original girl come back for an appearance as a walker and others i cant think of Of and the use of Weird Al Yankovics "Another One Rides The Bus" lol
Stay tuned. Thats all that I will say. This episode was nerve wracking to watch, a lot is happening, so it is alot to unpack. Stay tuned! 👍 (Your little Moth co- star in this episode added a bit of levity, by the way!)
That girl walker at the gas station was actually played by the same little girl in the very first episode!

I'm so glad you picked that up! Carl walking around the gas station has direct parallels to Rick in season 1 episode one
SUCH A FANTASTIC SIDE BY SIDE FOR THE 100th EPISODE

Just name the moth. We all know you’re not going to kill it. He lives there now.

Romero also publicly and often shat on walking dead and everyone involved in it.

Gregory is so funny he’s not very good at reading the room 😅 Love how tough Rick Grimes is in this episode!

I too feel bad about Gregory, it feels like he's evil out of sheer stupidity sometimes 🤣
When is the rest gonna be up? All caught up now…

Keep on Dan,,we love your reactions
Episode 2 soon?
I think s7/8 are best enjoyed binged, not waiting a while per episode.. personally
Agreed.
I had a whole explination typed out, but I'm afraid it could be spoilery without spoilers, so I deleted it. haha
I missed the premiere. But now I'm here!
Great reaction Dan
Keep up the awesome work 🤩
Please don’t stop watching! Love your reactions.
Baby Mothra..
Huh. I don't recall feeling like this was a victory.
This was a confusing episode at first watch. It will make more sense later.
The episode was fine. Dan just has a low tolerance for ambiguity.
👍🏻
0:05 not him being jumpscared by a car explosion
First! Yay
