Has to be the normal one as the sportback looks a little "squat". Also due to the premium over the normal one. (edit) if I could afford one, I'm about 6-7years of depreciation of being able to afford one!!!

We have an Etron and a Model X. If you put the drive mode on the Etron into "S" (pulling back a second time on the shifter) it makes the throttle response almost instant. It feels slightly less instantaneous than the Model X, but very close. It terms of ride quality and build quality however, there is no comparison between the Model X and the Etron. The Etron is superb. Also, the Etron chargers significantly faster on the high speed chargers. It can hold a much higher charging rate all the way to 80% versus the Tesla throttling significantly after 50%.
Overall we have be extremely happy with our Etron.

According to Car&Driver, they measured the E-Tron Sportback being 63dB at 70mph, and the Model X being 65dB at 70mph.
Doesn't sound like a big difference, but since the dB scale is logarithmic (50dB is 10x as loud as 40dB, 70dB is 10x as loud as 60dB) a 2dB difference is big.

    • @michealsquire8529
      @michealsquire8529 3 роки тому +2

@@CrazyWeeMonkey A 10dB difference in Sound Pressure Level is actually 3.16x. 20dB is 10x. 6dB is double. 2dB is about 1.25x. Human hearing perception of sound is not linear, so a change from 50dB to 70dB would not appear to be 10 times as loud. A change from 63dB to 65dB would barely be noticeable to most people.

First it was the abolition of physical dials and replacement with a pretty but ergonomically inferior HVAC solution. Now its the mirrors: You have to look lower and further from the road, contend with dazzle and reflections from the glossy screens and piano black plastics on the dash nearby. Yes real mirrors get glare but they're still safer and more intuitive.
Audi and the rest of the VAG group seems hellbent on flashy solutions for problems that don't really exist and making then work less well in the process.

Love this style of mindful reporting. The impact of global scale battery production to push the electrification agenda doesn't make for a compelling case for the environment. The whole idea of cars as viable transportation isn't that old that we actually can totally relinquish and make the shift without it, for that is the needed solution. But only if we truly understand what's at stake for the world we live in. Ignorance is as they say bliss, but even ignorance by itself is an unsustainable way of living. Personal fuel combustion engines has always been an unsustainable idea from the beginning, and we're seeing the impact as we live. Futurists now paint a way of living, that if mankind should continue the way we operate as we do now, a form of future so inorganic that is difficult for me to accept. I wouldn't want to deny my children of proper air to breathe, greenery to surround them etc by justifying my life now, for I'd look like someone who is totally utterly irresponsible.

Personally I think electric cars now are like how digital cameras were in the early 2000s. When digital cameras came out, they were interesting, and good to have as a backup to a traditional camera, but they couldn't compete on quality & real photographers would never use them. Now, 20 years later, digital cameras are ubiquitous, and can be used in ways a traditional camera never could. The same thing will happen with electric cars

The e-mirrors would have the potential to vastly improve blind spots around the A-pillar; many current mirrors are large enough to hide a small family crossing a crosswalk. But I am curious if the inside screens suffer from the need to re-focus the eyes when viewing them. For example, the new LR Defender's windscreen camera-mirror option does suffer from this, and invokes a second of vertigo when glancing at it....

Improved technology will make an electric car more usable for a greater number of people, which will result in higher sales, which will foster innovative developments, and so on.
We need to reach that loop. And we will with these current electric cars. They're a minimum viable product. They're not a solution on their own. And indeed, if you want to save the planet: go cycling.

It's an awesome car - high quality, luxury - best driving experience ever (air suspension), - but - heavy, slowish, lack of range (for me), I would like 700km as standard, I have strange mix of ranges, either close to my place 200km is good, but also for business meetings on the road.

Concerning those side mirrors/cameras, what happens if the electronics goes out? You're stuck. Plus, they're still not legal for use in the US.

If the electronics go on an EV car, then you aren't going anywhere.

The only thing I have against it is that it's bland. Nothing against electric cars, and I'd have the I-Pace in a heartbeat. And really does say what I'd rather have - the I-Pace. Not fitting in to the comfy shoes of traditional designs, but just innovative enough to have taken advantage of what electrification can offer car designers to alter and change the way we look at cars. And isn't that the future?

Pick a lane Audi. Sedan or SUV.
This looks indecisive, dull and not competitive to Tesla offerings.

Great video as usual, but I have to admit it felt too long. It felt like things were winded out to say not too much.
I agree wholeheartedly with Drew's stance, just thought it could be said in less. A lot of it is repetitive and some points are nowhere new within the electric car industry.

95 KWH 200 miles real world range... thats seriously lacking with the competion and one of the most important aspects of a electric car. So u dont have to go charge at a charger that doesnt work. (its like flying economy class vs business class)

Thats just EPA, people report efficiency is just marginally worse compared to the MX in real life. And it charges much quicker for much longer.

Had to sneak in that anti gun comment. Don't push political bias or agendas on the channel. It's very divisive. Don't tell people how to live their lives.
