Where the hell is music with such deep soul these days? My god, what an amazing ride by a group of amazing musicians paying tribute to an amazing song. Long live true heartfelt rock!!
No master can play those notes without imparting their own emotion to the strings! Neil Young was inspired when he wrote this epic piece, and no one can listen to it without being touched.
i agree, it has to be my favorite guitar piece since i heard live rust album for the first time , one of the best albums of all time, neil young is an absolute guitarist and great song writer of all rock history.
@@4valhalla898 i have heard many put down Neils "ragged" guitar playing but what they miss is the absolute soul and expression which so very few can express. He's an amazing guitar player.
Best Rock song ever written about the great human tragedy! Love the way these guys play it! They did Neil's song justice! Can't help but shed a little tear every time I hear it!
I never disliked Dave Matthews or anything but holy shit, this brings about a whole new level of respect. It is not possible to respect and admire Warren Haynes anymore than I already do, he is the most underrated musician out there, but I selfishly like it that way, he is a well kept secret.
***** oh yea? Then why does this video have only 149k views while any bieber, perry, gaga, minaj, cyrus, Lil wayne, shakira, iggy, one direction, fifty cent, bruno mars, beyonce, swift, etc etc etc... have millions if not tens of millions of views? I didn't mean secret as in, not a single person knows about him. It is merely a general way of speaking, for example; my feet are killing me! That doesn't actually mean that my feet are plotting to end my life... it is a metaphor, meaning that my feet ache. When I said that he is a well kept secret it only means that he is not as well known as he should be given that his level of skill and musicianship is vastly superior to most other popular performers. Context of speech is pretty cool huh?
John Lacy warren and the jam band scene have more of a niche audience so if one 15 percent of the people like that kind of music. They have only 15 percent of the views. Where as pop music is play in clubs, restaurants, stores and moronic teens girls bedrooms across the land. Don't joke about your feet actually killing you I know a guy whose feet came off and kicked the shit out of him
I love how different musicians interpret the songs of the greats, and give us a living example of the craft, it keeps music alive and passes it along, just a great version.
Dave Matthews Reminds me of tom hanks if he became a rock star. Warren Haynes nailed this song here. Besides neil youngs live rust performance this might be my 2nd favorite performance of this song.
I love youtube for specifically this reason! You can experience things like this, even if you weren't there. Thank you so much for posting. Warren is perhaps my favorite guitarist of all time!
I've read a few comments about who outdoes who in axe playing, though let's just appreciate this genius performance for what it is folks. It is essentially a team effort and I'm sure the man himself Mr Young would agree, it's about unity, not egos.
This was the best performance I've ever seen live. This song, in particular. && to think I didn't even know who Warren Haynes was when I went! An experience for sure.
i´m just discovering warren..... i admit it with shame... 15 years playing and until now i´m listening him for the first times.... he has to be one of the best LP players in history... and beside that... he owns some of the most beautiful LP´´i´ve seen. I saw a duet with joe bonamassa of "feel like breaking somebody´s home". It´s sick. 2 monsters on stage. But I have to say bonamassa doesnt has a single weak point...
Oh man...what a great some... one of the Masterpiece of Neil Young but Warren Haynes it is a unique guitar player... I love it... I love the way Dave Matthew looks to Warren and couldn't believe he was there playing with Warren... I love it...
I used to feel a little sorry for Tim when Warren came on stage because he never solo'd and stayed off to the side. That guy has some chops. I knew he was good but it was nice to see him go toe to toe with Warren. The whole band seems to like when Warren joins them and he seems to enjoy playing with them.
I was there, but I lost most of my pics and my video :( Thanks for posting this, it was one of the highlight moments for me for the whole three days, including the campsite...
Cortez is a song where skills like this can make the song sound so so good. Hell, even better. Grace Potter a Satriani and this are two examples. The emotion just flows straight into me. However, vocally, there is only one Neil.
I'd like to throw in some thanks for Jim Marshall, one time owner of a drum store in London, whose amps, (wholesale stolen from the 1960 Fender Bassman as they were), have brought us so much luscious tone over the years... Jim - O !!!
classic jam...... wish the audio was better but doesn't stop me one bit from rockin out with them.....very hard to believe only 5k views, despite the sound quality
They're what I'd call "master musicians" in the sense of "playing music" generally and "interacting with an audience using musical instruments (and songs)" specifically, which is good for starters, but they also not only hear Young's concepts through the audience's collective and filtered aural memories but they place themselves into the life of the song itself, both musically and lyrically. Which is a bit different than what Young did/does. I'd give them a 9/10 and I'd pay a good ticket to see them together, but come on.
I'd love to hear Neil with these guys. They obviously respect him. What a gig that would be! Multicappie, Neil is true to his soul and therefore his music. Cant do better than that. Different, yes, better ? Frills.
Cortez is my favourite song of Neil Young, I like the acoustic versions of this song, but this version I can hear the whole day. Thanks to this song, When will this combination Warren Haynes en the Dave Matthews Band visit Europe.
this was the highlight of the three nights ....freaking incredible..hey pres was that you sneaking around on top of the sound boards roof this year 2012
Jerry Garcia is the only person that I can think of that does it at the very least as much as Warren.... probably a good thing since Warren has been playing Dead music for so long. Great stuff.
Where the hell is music with such deep soul these days?
My god, what an amazing ride by a group of amazing musicians paying tribute to an amazing song.
Long live true heartfelt rock!!
These guitars can restart the whole FUCKIN' UNIVERSE! [7]
After hearing this....about 200 hundred times...you can throw all music away.....Eargasm. Thanks to Neil....and Warren...wow man, too much.
No master can play those notes without imparting their own emotion to the strings! Neil Young was inspired when he wrote this epic piece, and no one can listen to it without being touched.

Warren is a living legend...I'm truly lucky to have seen him play live several times
14 people were dropped as children. This song is probably the most epic cover of any song ever. Period.
22 now...
Tim reynolds and warren Haynes were sent to this earth to literally to create some of the best music ever made
WOW!! Chills & tears all at once! My favorite Neal Young song made even better!!
I never disliked Dave Matthews or anything but holy shit, this brings about a whole new level of respect.
It is not possible to respect and admire Warren Haynes anymore than I already do, he is the most underrated musician out there, but I selfishly like it that way, he is a well kept secret.
uihm. he is not really a well kept secret
***** oh yea?
Then why does this video have only 149k views while any bieber, perry, gaga, minaj, cyrus, Lil wayne, shakira, iggy, one direction, fifty cent, bruno mars, beyonce, swift, etc etc etc...

Still watching this epic performance.
Still mind-blowing!
"This song is the most epic song in the world." !!
I love how different musicians interpret the songs of the greats, and give us a living example of the craft, it keeps music alive and passes it along, just a great version.
So true. The classic expressions will survive.
Dave Matthews Reminds me of tom hanks if he became a rock star. Warren Haynes nailed this song here. Besides neil youngs live rust performance this might be my 2nd favorite performance of this song.

Fantastic.Just fantastic.
I've read a few comments about who outdoes who in axe playing, though let's just appreciate this genius performance for what it is folks. It is essentially a team effort and I'm sure the man himself Mr Young would agree, it's about unity, not egos.
So fucking true! Just look at their interactive grins.
Love it...One of the Best Versions of it...!!!!!!!!
Katherine Hudson ......THE BEST.
This was the best performance I've ever seen live. This song, in particular. && to think I didn't even know who Warren Haynes was when I went! An experience for sure.

Warren Haynes babysat DMB in this gig. Long live Warren and NY! Keep sharing the music.
Tim Reynolds babysat Warren when he was in diapers Ninja
Leroi Moore watched over him like a mother milking her child
Tim and Warren - Ah, man what a performance !! I LOVE IT !! ; D
What a jam.
i´m just discovering warren..... i admit it with shame... 15 years playing and until now i´m listening him for the first times.... he has to be one of the best LP players in history... and beside that... he owns some of the most beautiful LP´´i´ve seen. PHENOMONAL MATCHUP!

Well said! Multiple eargasms too!

awesomeee........
I never thought I'd say this.... but i think they out did Neil Young at his own song. Not talking down to Neil, but my god just listen to it.
Right? I almost feel like it's blasphemy but I have to agree.
agree!

I strongly second that and am also asking the question - you guys, to Austria, NOW! Live at Lake Woerthersee in the summer, how 'bout that? ;-)
"Just, Wow."
Just excellent... what Pappa said.
Didn't know Reynolds was able to shred it this well. Now, Haynes, is another matter.
respect
this was the highlight of the three nights ....freaking incredible..hey pres was that you sneaking around on top of the sound boards roof this year 2012
My ears just came
audio version of this performance in excellent quality is now on my channel. :)
Say Yeah!!!!!
warren Haynes is arguably the greatest guitar player alive.
YOU HAVENT HEARD JOE BONAMASSA.THEN. OMG! HIM AND WARREN ON STAGE TOGETHER!!!!!!
just epic.
In the first part you are correct. But then he says "also best Young LP". That is the part of the comment I was replying to.
Not everyones taste but lots of talent
Out of 792 people only 18 have no clue .WOW from the crap I hear on the radio you would think the count would be HIGHER.
HECK YEAH!
Sick... even Dave is in awe...i think he'd rather just sit this one out and watch Warren and Tim go nuts
Haynes is a phenomenon.
Smokin', - FREAKIN' SMOKIN' !!!!!
What a Killer.....
Little Timmy Rocks !!
.... got damn
Awe
Jerry Garcia is the only person that I can think of that does it at the very least as much as Warren.... probably a good thing since Warren has been playing Dead music for so long. Great stuff.
