    I just bought the LG 27GR95QE, a 27 inch OLED monitor, 3 weeks ago. I can tell you, without exaggerating, that it was the BEST decision EVER! I was able to buy it directly from LG for €559 and it was delivered extremely quickly. Perfectly and safely packaged. When I started my PC or PS5 for the first time, I couldn't believe my eyes, the picture was so incredibly good. On 27 inches, 1440p is more than enough!

    Love, love, LOVE the back of that thing. However, $1,4000 starting price for an OLED that is, in may respects, inferior to its cheaper QD-OLED cousins, is just too much. The dual mode 480hz mode is going to be an extremely small niche, I'm afraid. Most competitive gamers that want or need that kind of refresh rate are not going to be buying a 32 inch OLED in the first place, they'll opt for a 360hz 27 inch. I don't want to nitpick them here because I still enjoy LG OLEDs (my TV is one) and I want to see them succeed but if they continue to show up months after their competition and at a higher price point without blowout features that scream "Buy me!" they're going to have a problem.

    • @patrikmedia
      @patrikmedia 8 місяців тому +1

      the whole reason of those 24" and 27" modes is to fill that need for competitive gamers who prefer smaller sizes. 480hz oled response time is the best thing possible atm, only thing that could be on par is the 540hz TN with strobing, but it has so many tradeoffs that I think many people who have the bucks to spend and are heavy into competitive shooter will highly consider an option like this. especially with the huge benefit of using a 32" 4K panel for anything else outside of the game.

    4) HDMI 2.1
    5) FreeSync PremiumPro
    6) MLA+
    7) VRR
    8) G-SYNC
    9) 120 Hz
    10) Vesa 100 mount
    Few things that are missing IMO:
    1) Want Display Port 2.1 full UHBR20 not 1.4
    2) Wish it had the KVM switch most monitors have built in this year.
    3) Prefer the new WRGB config instead of WOLED
    4) Choice of glossy over anti-glare matte screen.
    5) Dolby Vision would be nice
    6) Longer warranty for screen burn as most offer at least 3yrs and better for dead pixel count which should be 0 IMO.
    7) USB C
    8) Remote
    Unsure:
    Do I prefer all this in 27" instead of 32"

    I watch a couple of reviews of this monitor already and in every one of them it looked so grainy, while I seen QD-OLED reviews and they look so clear and transparent. Even in compressed UA-cam videos you can tell the difference which really shows how bad the coating is.

    • @patrikmedia
      @patrikmedia 8 місяців тому

      it will look just as good as any other regular monitor that is not glossy, so basically like over 95% of the overall monitor market. you probably use a matte monitor at the moment or did in the past, doubt you ever complained about it being "grainy".

  • @dariuszed9105

    I think something additional needs to be addressed that not many reviewers mention for these expensive high end displays in general: guaranteed zero dead pixel policies. From what I heard in some display enthusiast forums, there's been reports of LG's warranty policy only accounting for certain manufacturing defects and burn-in protection, but NOT stuck/dead pixels, and that a few stuck/dead pixels would be within their specs. Can you please confirm if this is the case or not? Because at this point, any amount of non-zero defective pixels should be unacceptable for all display manufacturers. We're already paying a hefty price tag on these displays, I think we all deserve better.

    Why don't they make it glossy?
    Why do they insist on matte?
    Why do they reduce the contrast, sharpness and depth of colors?
    This monitor is aimed at players who play in home rooms whose lighting they control easily. It is not a working environment.
    When will my dream of a Glossy monitor come true?

  • @gizmostudios

    I preordered the monitor from the LG website in the Netherlands. It will be shipped after May 9th, but as a fresh LG member + preorder deal I got a nice 10% discount on the price. Normally it's being sold for €1399 here but in the end I got it for €1260 which I think is a solid deal. Looking forward using this to replace my current 60hz 32" 4k LG monitor. For productivity it's also interesting to mention the benefit of the high refresh rate in UX/UI design and software development. I do a lot of animation and motion graphics work and now creating animations for 120hz+ and able to preview these is really creating for the future. Also when writing code (and using a well IDE/editor optimised for performance like Lapce) it's really nice that when scrolling you can keep reading the text, without that typical smearing you get on 60hz. Same with moving windows around, they all stay crispy and it really feels like they physically stick to your mouse movement.
    All in all, what a time to be alive to have access to a monitor with these kind of specifications for a reasonable price! Can't wait!!!

    For those who are interested in maximizing immersion, this is unfortunately too small for a High FoV Gaming setup. At an 18" view distance the horizontal Display FoV is only ~75°.
    A view distance of less than 10.5" would be necessary in order to get the same 106° horizontal Display FoV of a 55" 16:9 screen at an 18" view distance, or a 65" at a ~21.5" view distance.

    Great review man! Just a couple of questions for ya: A) Does the matte finish hurt image quality at all in a dark room, or cause any graininess compared to QD-OLED? and B) With the pixel cleaning feature, does this run when the monitor is in sleep mode and does it require you to physically turn the monitor on via the power button after it has run? Or does it just wake up with mouse movement and continue to do it's thing. Thanks in advance!
