I have been able to see a few people boating on the river not many people along the whole of this journey looks like a pleasant place to walk good weather to!
Woah! I came here from Little Thought Tree’s channel and this is so cool. I wish I had known about you sooner. It could have made quarantine much better.
Hello!🌞 If I lived anywhere near this canal... I would be there as much as I could! Loved walking on this path!! The wildflowers in the side hedges, the wildlife, and seeing the sky reflecting in the water...WOW!! Thank you Dave, for picking this location!! Made my day! 🦋
Probably one of my favorites that you've done, because you chose a route that showcases the diversity of nature. Excellent work man. It made for a fantastic treadmill walk as well.
There's so much rain in England that even the rivers are green! :) Very primordial .. I'm guessing it's been a very long time since this canal has been used.
It stopped being used in 1944 ish, quite an in depth history is all documented by wikipedia, makes an interesting read! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cromford_Canal
This video is amazing. I don't want to say that it's my favourite one yet because that would be unfair to all the other ones. They are all so good. I'm loving it because the sun is shinning today here too and the birds are chirping in my patio so it feels pretty nice. The diverse nature is strikingly beautiful. So many trees, sometimes looks like they are blocking the sun. My mother and I - we love watching your vids together - were wondering about birds (mind you, we're like 1/3 of the video) but we didn't see or listen to many at all, which seems strange considering all those trees and vegetation in general. Oh wait i saw one just now! haha. But still, are there many birds just not very visible? I was particularly wondering about the green on top of the water in the canal. I've seen that in a tv show once and I was wondering is that moss that floats on top of the water? I noticed some ducks (and i think swans too) just floating or swimming on it, is it very thick? Also, there was a log floating there? I never seen that before that's why I'm so curious. Loved it. When you panned at some point and you could see all the vast landscape... breathtaking. Love it when you make those stops to pan and show us the scenery. What a beautiful walk and beautiful place. What a privilege to see this from so far away. Thank you!
Hey there, delighted your enjoying the video! There are a fair amount of birds around but very much all mostly high up in the trees. It is mostly moss on the canal, but its not thick at all, you could move your hand through it as if it wasn't there. Wood from trees usually always floats. very unusual that trees and branches would sink, nothing to do with the moss that's around.
Pity you didn’t carry on into the Arkwright mill which is a UNESCO heritage site the birthplace of the modern factory system built about 1770 . Have done this walk many times and will never tire of it .
The video is excellent; those plants at 8:01 (right side of the river) are they ferns? if not, first time in my life i see something that big; Too bad you didn't turn the camera to the right. Tomorrow I will continue with the walk. It relaxes me in the morning. Thanks a lot.
Hi Lejoe, so I think those plants are called Wild Rhubarb, or can be called Common burdock. Apologize for not giving a better look, there quite common by rivers/canals in the UK, and I think I was mainly focused on not accidentally wandering into the canal. I will mindful on my future walks, try get a closer look should I pass them again whilst filming :)
@@DavesWalks wow, they're awesome. Some kind of giant lettuce. Nothing compared here in my area. Thanks for the answer, i love your videos but if, in your future walks, you'd get a better look of the sides, i will love them even more.:).
Hey there Sarah, whilst it is not used now, it was once connected to a wider network and used heavily. Stopped being used commercially around 1888. Its full history can be found on its Wiki page en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cromford_Canal
Beautiful! So lush and green. I live in the desert in Southern California All I see is sand, brown's, beige and orange. .
Thank You Dave. I do love a cup of tea in the evening and just walking along with you enjoying the English countryside and Scottish nature reserves.
Another beautiful walk. Just to drown in the greenery. Wondeful.

Delighted you enjoyed it Monica :)
it's beautiful walk, but I do wonder about the green scum on the water... how nutritious it is for the ducks and whether it breeds mosquitos

Excellent, it’s great to hear RavenStrike! I very much hope to keep em coming!
@@DavesWalks - As long as you do, I'll keep watching. You should be rightly proud of your work man. Amazing.

Hey there Terry, I believe at the time of the walk, it was closed due to lockdown, but yeah it is a lovely walk, one I really enjoyed!

9/11/24. I love canal walks❤
Hey Dave, an welchen Pflanzen gehen Sie vorbei? Sind das Weidenröschen? Machen Sie doch bitte mal eine kurzen Schwenk in die Blüten, Dave. 👌👋
zu den blumen konnte ich dir leider nichts sagen, ich habe keine ahnung wie sie heißen.
Wonderful walk. Was this canal ever used or just parts of it? What was its purpose? Sorry for the silly question.
I could watch these walks over and over. They're so beautiful.
