  • Time to update one of our more popular "How To" step-by-step videos on face painting for scale models and figures or busts. This one is with a 1/10th scale Young Miniatures resin bust of Brad Pitt from the movie Fury (YM1852).
    Our other previous video for 1/35th scale figures is here:
    • PAINTING FIGURES' FACE...
    Or why not check out another video in painting 1/10th scale busts:
    • PAINTING FIGURES' FACE...
    This is a simple non-elitist step-by-step video guide to painting figures' faces using Vallejo's excellent Model Color range. This is aimed at everyday figure painting and our background is armour modelling. We have only really got into figure painting with busts relatively recently. This is a summary of the techniques we have picked up along the way. So this tutorial from www.scalewarmac... is aimed at beginner modellers & AFV model makers looking to paint realistic faces for their figures. It is not a masterclass, rather a simple technique for effective results. It should be accessible and easy to follow, even for beginners. If you want to watch a long-winded masterclass, check out one of the expert figure painter channels on You Tube instead.
    We hope you enjoy this and that it inspires you to try your hand at a larger scale bust or figure.
    Visit www.scalewarmac... for more videos like this.
    You may also enjoy our build series on another Young Miniatures bust of an 82nd Airborne Paratrooper from D-Day. including face painting:
    Here is part #1: • PAINTING A U.S. 82ND A... and you can then follow the playlist for parts #2 to #4.
    Enjoy!

    My god, that is one hellva good figure - I thought that image was a photograph. For realistic models, this is exceptional work, and should be applied widely - even for more fantastical styles, in model making, this can be so useful, too, as background knowledge!

    Great video, thanks so much I find these really helpful.
    With the jacket could you handpaint using a Vallejo glaze medium instead of airbrushing or is it best just to airbrush to keep the low and highlights?

    • @scalewarmachines
      @scalewarmachines  2 роки тому +1

      Sorry, taking a while to respond to comments Phil, I just find the airbrush quicker and easier, giving a nice smooth flat base. But ultimately, I end up brush painting on top, so you could certainly go down that route and the Vallejos should brush paint down nicely, especially with additives like the medium. Make no mistake, ditching the airbrush and brush painting is 100% doable and that's probably what the "real" figure painters do, I am just an AFV modeller imposter who enjoys painting busts, as they are a quick way to get some modelling in and get to a finished result quicker!

      It's Ebay basically as they are no longer made. They come up quite often, but you need the transformer too. Proxxon do a lovely one, but that is seriously expensive and a shame to clog up with resin dust. These Minicraft tools, although discontinued, are cheap second hand and perfect for basic modelling tasks. See our video on a recent Minicraft haul.

    • @scalewarmachines
      @scalewarmachines  4 роки тому

      Tend to use Iwata Eclipse HP-CS, Iwata Hi-Line HP-CH and Harder & Steenbeck Evolution Silverline mostly. Colour of paints should be in the video but the base is the Brown Sand 876 by Vallejo. Pressure is usually 1.5 bar but it's hard to tell as we use Mac valves on a lot of airbrushes. Otherwise the paints used were in the Vallejo face painting set. www.scalewarmachines.com/allcontent/vallejo-face-painting-set

    • @scalewarmachines
      @scalewarmachines  5 років тому +1

      Yes, quite right. There is no one perfect way to paint an eye. In a way the pupil first method is easier. It certainly was on this figure.
