After cj4A the petrol era ends due to the hike in petrol price people prefer diesel vehicles. hence mahindra introduced Cj500d with the international B275 tractor engine with modifications in 1975.
(Also cj3b and cj4A continued production with less demand in civilian market, but for officials
up to early 90s)

T90 GB-3+1 gear box
T 18 double lever transfer case
*since it is IDI fuel injection system Pre heating glowplug is used for cold starting
Flat fender round mudguard
*head light with convex lens
*Small conical white indicator or park bulb under head light
*rear round full red tail light, and separate indicator same as front
*Diesel tank under left front seat
*Bench seats
*available in 91&101 wheel base, 4wd and 2wd
*tyres size 6.00 16
*large 2 spoke steering wheel with plastic coating, combination switch only for turn indicators, dipper switch b/w clutch and brake
(No side view mirrors, no reverse light)
Production continued without any major changes till 1989.
In 1990 a higher capacity more powerfull engine introduced.cj500DE only change was the engine. CJ500DE (1990-1991)

But due to some technical issues this engine upgraded soon(water gasket issue) to direct injection system in 1991 named cj500DI.Only change was the engine.

Brother I was searching for an old jeep and consequently I came across with an old jeep, year of manufacture is Jan-1990. It was a private vehicle but hired and used by govt. Office. The dealer, an auto parts seller told me that it has company fitted MDI engine which is supposed to be 2523 cc engine but I saw RC details of the vehicle on local RTO website it shows 1825 cc and 62 bhp. Which engine should it be as per year of manufacturer and how can I identify the engine whether it is low speed international engine or MDI engine? Answer please Brother..
