having an 85mm myself solidifies how amazing that lens is, for just about any situation. The 35mm is also good for that overall capture, I just prefer the comfort of the 85mm without having to be so up and close to any subject. As always, great content Pierre, this video will clear things up for a lot of enthusiasts that are planning on getting more into street photography.
Great video Pierre. Thanks for all the inspiration you always provide.
I have the sigma 85mm/1.4 on the way, this makes me even more excited for it! I think my 24-70/2.8 will work well enough for any wider shots for now. :)
I just went to NYC for street photography and it was 🔥. My next destination is Chicago next year summer. 🙌🔥. Hopefully I can ran into you lol.
I hope so too!
“God willing “ it’s a good saying to say we can’t guarantee tomorrow
you inspired me to start out in this amazing hobby, ty i think its going to be a long and fun journey!!
You turned me onto the 85mm two years ago. I absolutely love my Tamron 85 1.8 VC. ❤️
I truly enjoy your videos. One thing which would be interesting would be a recap at the end - which pictures were your favorite and why.
I have the 85mm 1.8 and it's sooooo good, I can get portraits or street shots without having to be right on someone, makes me alot more comfortable and the people I'm taking photos of. Unfortunately I can't get many good macro shots with it but it holds detail and sharpness very well.
Edit: also love the Karen lol "excuse me!" LOL pierre was out of that situation as fast as he could lol
yo pierre you wanna come out here
Add an extension tube if you want to get close.
You just shot strangers on the street without asking for their permission? Must be so easy to do street photography in usa. 👍🏻
I've mostly shot my street photography on 24mm 1.4, with occasionally jumping to a 50mm 1.8. But I just picked up a new film camera and think I'm going to go 35mm 1.8/85mm 1.7 combo, thank you for this video Pierre!
Thank you Matt!
yeah, this is exactly my "go to" combo! (Sony 14mm 1.8 GM + 35mm 1.4 GM & the Sigma 85mm 1.4 DG DN)
I own the 14 GM prime. It definitely forces you to think differently for comps. I find myself low to the grown a lot with it. It is a BEAST of a landscape and astro lens.
Ya I couldn’t really see pulling mine out other than on hikes or Timelapse’s
Good vid! It also came up on my explore page this time too
This is why I am incredibly happy with getting a 50mm for my camera. (APS-C sensor so it would translate to an 80mm on full frame.)
I have only gotten a little taste of what's possible with that size and I love it already! It's so versatile too.
I have the Sony A6400, does the 85mm work for my camera? I already have the Sigma 56mm 1.4 and I love it.
@@maviniii why shouldnt it? Both e-mount
@@maviniii 56 is 85mm equivalent
Hello Pierre. What setting do set your zebra in the camera? I notice it in your screen, but you still pulled details back from those “clipped” highlights
I definitely prefer longer focal lengths! Looks much nicer and it makes it much easier to exclude things that are ugly from your frame.
Hi Pierre, for APSC we can divide by the brand crop factor I guess. I'm surprised to see you in street photography with 85mm, 35 or 50 aren't better for it ?
the 14-24mm range are really tough for sure but you did great. Either you got to get everything in frame or you have to get SUPER close to your subject. My favorite sweetspot is 50-85
Must be so difficult to produce photos in that timespan. I actually prefer the images from the 14mm even it it seemed harder work, the dramatic lines that it creates make it special.
Been awaiting on this type of content for a while.
Hi guys, I have the Sony A6400, does the 85mm work for my camera? I already have the Sigma 56mm 1.4 and I love it.
Actually got this in my UA-cam feed this time 👍 great vid!
Oh awesome! Finally!! :)
Just got the 35mm 1.4, can't wait to take more shots with this lens!
Hi,thanks for the video.
I would have never choosen those focal lengths to shoot that cityscape.
I prefer a 24 mm or 28 mm lens much more and for intimate shots a 50 mm lens.
Thanks, anyway!
What settings did you use for your gopro? The video is so smooth
Thanks for this! Would you do similar challenge with 24mm, 50mm and 135mm ?!
Perfect video to watch, I only own the 1.4 gm 35mm and 1.8 85mm as a street photographer!
The 85 is my favorite. For presets, Taipei 01 is interesting. I like Brooklyn and Antigua 02.
Since you have tried both, which one do you prefer, the 85mm gm or the 135mm gm?
love the 85mm, my favourite focal length, no doubt
What vlog u use?
Probably all of these are my fav ❤️
hi
What lens to street photos which is compatible with canon 500D?
Congrats on 500k!!!!!
Thank you!!
Is it ok to use Lumix for Street Photography?
For street photography with my Leica M6 and/or M10 rangefinders, I routinely use the following lenses:
21mm f/1.4 Leitz
35mm f/1.4 Zeiss
90mm f/2 Leitz
I also use an adapter to mount my Nikon 14mm f/2.8 on my Leicas; however, 14mm is too wide for my taste for street photography.
For street photography with my Nikon SLR, I routinely used the following lenses:
24mm f/2
35mm f/1.4
85mm f/1.4
For street photography with my Nikon SLR, I sometimes used the following lenses:
24mm f/2
50mm f/1.4
105mm f/2.5 or 135mm f/2
In my opinion, one lens is no better than the other. They do, however, work very well together for street photography.
Thanks for the video.
I was about to ask you about a lens review haha. Can you please review the Tamron 35-150mm F/2-2.8 Di III VXD for Sony E-mount? Thanks
Love the SONY 85MM 1.8 is the best for my opinion , great video thanks
Can you do a comparison between the A7R iv and the A7 iv for Photography? Landscape/Arcitecture/ Portraits would really interest me since both bodys are similar priced.
I second this
Interesting video, and also highlights the need for a warmup before you start taking good photos. And as you mention, the 14mm gets the short end of stick in this "experiment". I shoot with the 24mm 1.4, 85mm 1.4 and 70-200 2.8. And the next lens I am aiming for is the 14mm 1.8. So I am thinking an interesting video from you would be to push yourself with the 14mm and come to terms with it and show how it can capture unique street photography. This video kind of makes it seem useless for street. Personally, I want it to push myself in to getting closer to subjects. So I put tension into a photo, as the observer knows I have had to be VERY close to capture that moment. A video dealing with that from you could be interesting. Keep it up!
@@I.K.2013 I have a Fujifilm X100V and the 50mm adapter for it. But I don’t use it much. Mostly used it for portraits at comic con in New York. Photos on my site. But in short, no.
This one is for keeps for sure😎
Just purchased the 14mm f1.8 on a Black Friday/Cyber Monday deal, can’t wait for it to arrive tomorrow 👍🏻😉
Woot!
My favourite: 24mm f1.4, 50 f1.2 or Leica noctilux 50mm f0.95, and 135mm f1.8
This is pretty crazy! I just sold all my APS-C gear to preorder the A7IV and these are the exact same lenses that I purchased to replace my crop lenses. Absolutely wild
i was thinking about these 3 too, are u happy and satisfied with them?
Love this content 😊
Thanks!
I Think With The 85 MM You Did Some Really Nice Shots
For Me 85 MM Is One oF My Favorite Lens To Use On The Streets
I Do Have A Viltrox 85 MM 1.8 With My Fuji XE 1
But It Will Be Nice I Think If You Can Do More POV Using The 14 MM Because It’s Very Challenging…
Thank You
I would like to see how you test the 105mm sigma
I really like the 85mm, I'll get one!
What camera are you using?
Do you still have sony a74 ?
Pierre you are one of the the reasons why I started getting into photography! I have a long way to go with learning the ropes of cameras and lens! It’s also a very expensive hobby 🤭😂
Good afternoon Pierre, I shoot Cannon and I absolutely love my 85mm 1.8 for alot of shots. I'm interested in what do you think the 14mm you were shooting with is actually good for and is it something you can see using alot.
Yes 85 is bomb! 14 is tough honestly... you'll hear what I say in the video but it's not versatile and requires a lot of work!
I really enjoy reading your news letters that you send out they're very informative and inspiring. Your channel makes my winter months having to stay in alot being that I'm a full-time wheelchair user do to being born with a disability fun until it's nice enough out for me to go shoot as well.
Do you still have the a7iv or did you send it back already? Would love to see some more vids with that one
I sent it back!
I really miss a 24mm lens in this lineup. I'd really like how your 24mm pics stack up to a 35mm
Maybe in part 2, probably gonna be 24mm, 50mm, and 135mm
Just ordered my 85mm 1.8, can’t wait!
it's an amazing lens, I've only owned it a few months and I absolutely love it
Enjoy it!!!
Body cam used?
Great video
happy 500k idol, im your fans from malaysia
Daytime: 35mm
Nights: 85mm
Love the 24mm for shooting in the Loop. 14mm would be fun but agree the ramp up on that would take some time.
Oh yes good point 35 mm daytime 85mm night!
Love the 85!
Congratulations on 500k subs..🔥👏
Thank you!! I need to talk about that haha
@@Pierretlambert .. oh well quite a reminder though...😁 Hehe...
The 85 1.8 on my ARIII is ...🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Ahh...the lens Dealer gives the best dru........Lenses for your buck. Awesome Test. I was literally talking about which three you should use on the go. So two if these plus a 50mm F/1.8 and you're unstoppable.
Wish my lense dealer was that quick and had that good deals
which location is this? it is so beautiful
Congratulations man for 500k subscribers
Thank you!!
Best one 85mm 1.8 lens♥️
are using slog during photo taking?
THE BEST!!!!!!!!
Hi . Very cool bro. It's a pity that my Canon 600d can't shoot like that (((
Where is it
I love shooting with my Zeiss 85mm F1.8 😍📸🔥
Isn't it great?!
@@Pierretlambert I LOVE IT!! 😍📸
Love you bro 🥰😘😘
24 & 55 works for me.
Hi 🤗 I choose A1 match to14mm
“That’s a terrible photo” shoots a photo that I would probably frame and stick on my wall, then quit and never take another!
I love the 105
I liked most of the photos so I can't tell you which is my favorite.
“I’m gonna get run over” street photography in a nutshell🤣😭😭
amazing 85mm ~!!
Hi ! I use 55-250 mm
Love you from India🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳
Lot's of Love from kolkata Bengal India...
my dad bought himself a 85 1.4, which was too pricey for me, but i cant wait to use his for nights
The lens dealer part 😭🤣
I just bought a7iii with 35mm 1.8 and 85mm 1.8 😍
me too man, good choice !
@@simeonovs4443 i also added the 55mm 1.8. Those three rock
Are you in Manual mode here?
Hi, nice to meet you, I'm from Indonesia
Which camera on the chest?
GoPro I believe
@@mattcandy i think so, i saw other video and i think it's gopro 8
85mm 🔥🔥
Less go
epic video
The brooklyn 001 and bruce
There is no versus because every lens has it's usability and pros and cons!
For me, it would be 35, I find it perfect for street photography, if the lens is longer like 85 or 135 it’s very easy to compose the image, same happens with portraits, if the lens is wide like a 24 or a 16 it’s more difficult to compose.
I’m very new on street photography, but what I’ve seen with professionals street photographers is that they usually go with 28,35,50 and I see a lot of beginners using 85mm or even 70-200.
The 85mm 1.8 all day long!
I use a 85 mm & 135mm
Is 112mm too much for street photography ? I am hesitating for the Sigma 56mm 1.4 for m43 or the 16mm 1.4 ... Congrats tho for your 500k !
it can work! Thank youuu
@@Pierretlambert Thanks for the answer ! I'm gonna try the 56mm on m43 ! Un viewer français d'ailleurs mais super vidéo en anglais j'adore !
Préférence pour le 35mm mais le 85mm est bien dans certaines situations.
