I agree, but i feel like a lot of the gaming companies don't really listen to U.S desires. We have been begging, for several translations and ports, for a decade or more, with no luck. A Samurai Shodown RPG port and Atomiswave collection would be fabulous!
Atomiswave was really amazing and maybe it was the best platform ever created for two-dimensional graphics. Hokuto No Ken's version of this platform by far is the best game based on the franchise ever created, with wonderful graphics being almost a copy of the anime.
I haven't even heard of most of these games until now! The Guilty Gear one is a serious knockout! These are like Neo Geo games on steroids (which is saying a lot given what a beast of a 2D machine the Neo Geo was as is)!
This is a nice-looking list with some classic games on it, the SNK fighting games and Metal Slug 6 are great. There are also quite a few games on here I haven't played but look interesting, like Dolphin Blue, the Guilty Gear games, The Rumble Fish 2, Knights of Valour: The Seven Spirits, and Fist of the North Star. I think Dolphin Blue even got an aftermarket release on the Dreamcast and I've been tempted to pick that one up.

All of these games need to be in a compilation or a port to modern platforms done by Code Mystics, Hamster or Digital Eclipse at least (anyone's good as long as Dot Emu stays away from the project), specially with Fist of the North Star, Dolphin Blue, GG X, KOF XI and Rumble Fish 1 & 2
they look great, but by that time the mainstream focus was on only 3D games. Too bad since KOF XI was actually a pretty good game, but the atomiswave was nowhere close on popularity as the neo-geo was in the 90's
It was a last resort move by SNK to expand their 2d fgs that since the 90s were pushing the poor NeoGeo too hard. But i believe they also didn't have high expectations about it, and we can see that in how those Playmore games are rough and not exhilarating like the old SNK games (up to MOTW and KOF 99-00). The devs weren't trying very hard, they could have done much more in the Atomiswave than what was delivered in KOF 11 and Neowave. Capcom also went through a similar situation when they gave up their own hardware and switched to 3rd party superior hardware. It wasn't possible to make MvC2 and CvS1-2 in the Cps2 with that same look. And it also had a tragic early end.
Capcom made great game with the Naomi Hardware. The characters were SMOOTH. I remember playing Street Fighter III for a while, and then when I moved back to Alpha 3, I thought the framerate was choppy as F

Similar situation to the Capcom Jojo fg, the fg company doesn't fully own the game because it doesn't own the brand. So it gets tricky. I wish Arcsys made a revision sequel (SSF2 style) fixing some of the jank and adding a few new chars.

Also it gave the impression SNK was desperate to control the damage from the failure of KoF 03, since KoF 02 was a big phenomenon (still played today). Like when companies reboot or remaster popular games when they don't know how to make a great brand new game.
Honestly a very weak list. KoF appears a lot (Neowave is not even necesary, it's actually among the worst plus it's essentially post 2000 sprites, and by default XIII deserves a spot), and Blazblue deserves to be mentioned here too
I am ashamed to admit it but i am a high function mrdd hood nerd. and 2006 i discover mame32 and began doing massive amounts of research on arcade emulation. and sammy is one of my favorite companies i spend our on the arcade emulators back in 2006 to 2015. survival arts,dyna gear, and those softcore hentai japanese slot games back in the late and mid 90s. the guilty gear on ps1, and they were so ahead of there time on that graphics. and keeping the retro anime style alive 1999 to 2006.

every game is beautiful. minor exception are neo geo battle and kofxi where for some reason the background looks crisper than the character sprites and the disparity throws me off.

I remember arguing with a dork on SNK-Capcom forums about wishing there was a DBZ 2D fighting game in the vein of the fist of the North Star, homeboy said it would never happen and then many years later Fighterz came even tho it’s a 3D game it still played like a 2D fighter, I think about old arguments like that a lot lol
it's on dreamcast, you can ethier burn a disk or pop it on an sd card to run on a gdemu oh and there is original 4:3 or widescreen versions, I've got the entire atomomiswave library on an sd card I play on dreamcast
Why do you need a port? Grab the ROM from MAME and play it on an emulator that works. If a Powkiddy can play it surely Emulation Station for PC can keep up.
Atomiswave is basicly an arcade dreamcast arcade hardware kinda like what neo geo did back in the day. if converted properly you can easily play these games on redream emulation. I personally wanted fist of the north star
No, they would keep going for a little longer. But besides GG, only small titles. The last classic GG was released in the early 2010s if I'm not mistaken.
I am particurly impressed with _Sushi Bar_ . The games has a beautiful simplistic design and simple mechanics. I believe this game could make a comeback if it was on the app store.
The great thing is you can play all games on a Sega Dreamcast :)

Man the audio on all these clips is super mangled and distorted. Lots of weird delay/echo. Sounds like bad emulation or something.

Try ordering the super console x cube should be cheap enough and it runs the game fairly decent
