Part of the problem is traffic in Vegas has always been god awful. We generally stay close to the activities we are doing in a given weekend to avoid taxi travel as much as possible. If the city weren't so beholden to the taxi lobby they'd have done things like expand the monorail to the airport and other resorts years ago.

I'm not too keen about it cause 1; it's 2:00 AM Eastern Caribbean Time(1: 00 AM EST when factoring DST) 2, track temperature will most likely hit SINGLE DIGITS so expect a COLD race, not the cold one like in the '78 Canadian GP. 3, It could snow as Perieli didn't make snow tires. So I expect this to be off the calender within 5 years

@@AUmarcusMelbourne is in a public park, and basically race on access roads, that really, we're built for the race. Very few residents rely on these roads and the setup and build times are done quickly and with so much space in a public park, it's easy to get done.
Vegas is also a lot more dense. It spreads about 15km, or from the city to caufield. Hardly a comparison and hardly the damage Vegas has had to its city.

@@AUmarcusthe city of Las Vegas is about 650,000. The greater Las Vegas area is over 2 million. The Las Vegas strip is not even in the city of Las Vegas. The track is in an area where over 100,000 of those people work and over 100,000 tourist visit every day. The scale of this logistical nightmare is unmatched. All for a boring race that Americans couldn’t care less about.

Locals are always displaced when these street circuits are built.
Up here in Newcastle NSW Australia we had similar feedback from locals regarding bump in and out times before and after the event which in total can be up to 3 months.
Compensation and allowances need to be given to residents and businesses, especially those who cannot trade over the event weekend but also during the in and out times.
Let’s hope the weekend showcases Las Vegas and F1.

F1 is a new thing for the residents of Vegas, everything is a shock what with the construction, the road closures and what not. I feel for them, but hopefully in time the organisers improve their processes. I live in Singapore and when the grand prix arrives, there is always a single lane of road open to normal traffic next to the race track, throughout the weekend and road closures are communicated weeks in advance. Plus, we've had it since 2008, so us locals are pretty used to it.

So if you believe that more earnings and revenue means they can pay more workers or hire more. Maybe its a factor as to why the culinary union got such a good deal.

Which for the USA east coast fans will be at 3:00 am. !! WTF why cant European fans get up earlier to watch it live, as us American fans have had to do for years !! Then maybe it couldve started at (?) lets say 8 or 9 pm. ?? But nope F1 is still a Eurobillionaires sport ! Hence why theyre trying so hard to keep Andretti autosport a true 🇺🇸team out of F1 !! Sure theres Haas but theyre barely a American team and thats only by default! They dont even build their car's chassis ( tub) which I thought was mandatory in F1 ?? Andretti is going to build their's for F1 !!! But Eurobillionaires like Toto🐺 are nervous theyll loose a piece of the pie and its all about money !! American dollars too at that !!!
P.S. 🖕Toto 🐺 from a true 🇺🇸🏎💨fan !!! Keep Andretti out and we may all say enough and 👋we're 🏁 with it !!!

Ticket from $18k a year ago then $15k three months ago. Now, $9k for 3 days weekend. I wouldn’t be surprised $100.00 on Saturday night. The temperature will drop down to 49 degree by 2300 pm. Good luck to warm up those tires. Sounds pretty much like The Lost Vegas GP.

Really good and informative video. If I lived in Vegas, I’d be fuming with all of the road closures and the traffic nightmares that they have had to deal with, all for a long weekend of F1. Don’t get me wrong, I love F1 the sport, but the business end of it has gotten way to greedy with their success. This turns a lot of people off. The fact that F1 bought out every single hotel room that overlooked the track, and then sold them as overpriced packages.. big time greed

YES! It is READY NOW @noon Tuesday 11/14 I have driven slowly around it in my MB G65. The track is 3.85 miles max speed expected to be up to 212 mph but may come down to get quicker lap times a balance of passing ability and lap times. Race 50 laps abt 2 hours IT will be INCREDIBLE at night even showing the new SPHERE show place on the laps just behind Palazzo Casino. Paddock pass was $15,000 all sold abt 2 months ago. Las Vegas is where it's happening. NBA will be next on brd!!

I honestly don't know how negative or positive the whole event is because you have pros and cons.
I feel like, if there's a repeat of this GP, the disruption next year won't be anywhere near as bad for locals. Most of the disruption seems to come from the need to pave the roads with proper asphalt and the construction of purpose-built infrastructure. As for local businesses, those are the ones I feel bad about, and they're the ones who should be compensated if the event blocks business from happening.
I will say one thing tho. It's a GP made by the rich, for the rich. Price tickets aren't even obnoxiously high, they're insultingly high. So, I do understand the frustration. If the event flops, that's a grease fire nobody will want to get near. If it's not a flop due to millionaires flocking there like ants ready to squeeze the event on social media for all it's worth and the GP is there next year, the disruption won't be anywhere near as bad for locals.
    We'll see how it goes.

I think a lot of people are thinking that. I'm optimistic, there's a few long straights where the slip stream and/or drs I think actually might keep racing close. Someone that's been passed I think will be able to pass back rather quick. Couple that with the unknown, like Red Bull could have another Singapore, and it might be exciting.

@@accent1666 I don't mind bad races. I mind useless additions. This race risked removal of older tracks because some countries are paying less to stay than the US and OPEP can. Hell, Brazil had to wait until the last year of the contract to confirm they were staying until 2030, and had they failed to pay, there would be no more races anywhere in South America, while US alone has 3 out of 24 (by FIA rules, 24 is the most races a single season can have; slots are full).

There are always growing pains to massive projects like this, especially when just about everyone involved seemed to delay negotiations, construction, etc. Luckily it will only get better now over time and probably turn into something very cool. One thing however, I don't want F1 to lose it's actual race tracks! Street tracks are pretty neat, but world renown race tracks are epic! I can't even believe there was ever talk about losing out on Spa. That's crazy. If they did that, they should refab Laguna Seca corkscrew to work with F1 cars! But still, nothing like Spa!

  • @rammagaming
    @rammagaming 7 місяців тому

The surcharge is because a lot of the rides will be flat rate but take extra time. Airport trips for instance, or hotel to certain hot spots. That said, as an American, I'm glad I live in a state where tipping is purely a nicety because our laws do not allow for tips to be deducted from a persons wage. Nevada IS a state where workers that are tipped have a significantly lower pre-tip minimum wage requirement, but I believe the employer must ultimately make up the difference between tipped and non-tip working minimum wage in the end. So you're always saving the employer money with a tip in a state like that, but not necessarily hurting the employee if they work in a low tip rate job.

Sure you could say that it's also a city and a community lives there but c'mon when money talks it does and won't care of whoever takes them in the way. But feel free to comment.

I look at it this first F1 Los Vegas Grand Prix as a great generator of lots of things go put on the wish list for next year's F1 race! Support races: The West Coast SCCA along with the Porsche club could do some days at the F1 track earlier in the week. Much better flyover or tunnel under access to the middle isolated section of the track should be done that gives similar access as the at-grade options. These might need to be made interesting to negate some of their slightly extra time and effort to use. There are probably lots of compromises to fit the current F1 track into Los Vegas. It is better to build a new city around a F1 track than to retrofit one, but Vegas structures only last as long as they are a perk so it's always being rebuilt anyway.

Couple that with the money that seems to follow F1 everywhere, the race should be a financial success. Shame the small business folks are gonna get dinged on what could be a bonanza weekend for them.
