1965 GMC cracker box
Cab over w/ signal sleeper model DFW Body DP
671 Detroit two stroke diesel engine 238 Hp .
10 Speed Overdrive Transmissions, has a newer set of Rockwell rear ends has 355 gear ratio. With the overdrive transmission this truck will travel nicely at 70 mph.
The 671 Detroit Diesel with the 10 speed overdrive transmission and 355 gear ratio, is geared excellent close shift ratio low geared for takeoff and overdrive for highway speeds. This truck sounds amazing.
Chrome front wheels with 10.00-20 front tires
The cab on these trucks are made from aluminum, this truck is in very good condition. The tilt cab opens and shuts. I drove the truck on 11-9-2014 .
Hauled farm machinery from Ohio to Florida in one of these in the late 70s. No wonder I can't hear now.
What??
Always that characteristic 2 Stroke Detroit Diesel sound that always told you an old Crackerbox (and later, a Brigadier) was a-rumblin' down the road...
How could anyone give this a thumbs down ????
Probably EPA
@@vcummins Ironically a variation on this engine is one of the cleanest and most efficient diesels.... both walmart and Tyson chicken have been trialing them for awhile... its basically this engine with electronic controls, and no nead (just 2 3 cylinders pointed at each other for an opposed piston setup) and gearing between the 2 cranks to sync them up (and obviously much more advanecd piston seals and lubrication). The 10L version probably sounds simlar to this straight piped and the 2.7L sounds basically like a 53 series.
At one time the Jimmy was the engine to have. Has its own distinct sound. Love it!!!
That was the first truck that was a cabover and it didn't have but a 4 inch doghouse in it plenty of room to get dressed in the mornin lol my mom made curtains for me that slid from the center of the windshield to around the back of the seats ,had a heater in it out of a Dat sun b 210 it fit right in the cubby hole under the center of the dash ,first truck with a bunk heater ,I built it myself ,,,I drove that truck with just my socks on it was so toasty in the cab and it would b 20 degrees out that 238 I put a turbo on it man that was BIG POWER back in the day lol
The sound is worth a lot of money.
You drive a Detroit diesel like your mad at the world,if not it just doesn’t work right! Just remember it’s a 2 cycle motor,it uses as much engine oil as it does diesel
thankfully that was mostly an artifact of them having been designed 90 years ago... Achates power has a modern opposed piston variation of it that doesn't leak oil, is super efficient, and has way less aftertreatment than any other new diesel on the road ... and basically sounds like this.
music 2 my ears.
E apaixonante esse barulho, coisa diferenciada
Need to see more of the inside of this Crackerbox as well. Sounds really good. Porter dude of Ohio.🤩
OH LORD Come to my rescue NOW !!!!!!
So its STILL for sale?
That's the exact truck I drove back and forth to California, Florida, all from Rhode island no air nopowerstearing pulling reffer and flat over width overweight lol one of the first trucks I learned to drive 13 YRS old lol

Road Ranger
Great sound machine 👊👊🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
That's how you drive a 2 stroke Detroit. Hold it to the floor haha 👍🏼
after you slam your thumb in the door.
Drive it like you're angry.
Jason Wynn my grandpa always told me you drive them old two cycle Drtroits like you're mad at em
Yup, those detroit diesels make their torque at the top!
@@mcrichton46.... No, they do Not "make their torque at the top!".... their torque curve is actually very "flat" from about 1180 to 1750, depending on application, injector size & type, adv or std timing, etc.
I'd love to have one of those just to piss off my neighbor. Lol
That was in human to put somebody in one of those things to work.
cool sound
Im in love 😍
Wow I need a 355 rear in mine. Running 3200 rpm it's only going 53mph
That's why they're called dragonfly trucks, you drag them up the hills and you fly down them, in neutral if you're in a real hurry.
rock on crackerbox!!!
Is it for sale?
Que buenos recuerdos del sonido del motor
Sí, A mí también me encanta ése sonido del camión😁
