If you’ve never used an air filter these are great. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkx_dppjvjF8BYEmPSDTcgCUdRsgWYLXNHN I ended up with three after starting out with one. The noise level depends on the 1-3 settings with how hard you want the machine to work. You can also upgrade the filters and get one better for pet hair and smells which is a must have in my home. I noticed the air seemed lighter and easier to breathe when running the machine for the first time. Works great every time. Highly recommended!
Keep in mind that the charcoal filter has a limited lifespan. My filter started having this weird sweet smell after 6 months and I noticed it came from the active carbon filter. Basically what happens is the carbon gets saturated and then starts off-gassing those compounds into the air again. That's already a bad thing, but it's even worse when the fan of the air purifier is distributing all of that throughout your room/house. However, you can just remove the carbon insert and keep the Hepa filter. You'll lose odor/chemical filtering but if you don't live in a super chemically polluted area that shouldn't be too bad.
Wierd that those anit formaldyhade filters got less carbon so it gets saturated faster. solution to this is add some cheap carbon filters on the 3 walls of purifier, sometimes its worth to find one bigger cheap filter and cut it in 2 or 3 pieces to fit. Later if you already got plasic comb, you just buy carbon or zeolite. There's so much room even UV lamp can go inside and photocatalytic filters from other brands. UVC is harmfull, so to keep ozone and light inside, you can pu other filter on top of fan exhaust. Xiaomis are great for DIY fun if someone is into it.
Hey! My filter is the one with active charcoal, and after 3 months it started emiting weird smell, its like plastic or like new furniture. I vaccum cleaned it twice in 2 months since it had a lot of dust on it. What should I do now, remaining life is 80days?
Please tell us about the before and after Percentage of "Remaining filter life". That number shows up in these air purifiers by Xiaomi. Also, what is your opinion on wrapping these filters with static cotton sheets? Thank You for the video!
@@Akshay-vq1uv But after cleaning, the fall rate should be slower right? I mean if you clean it at say 20%, it will take longer time now to reach 0%. Is this assumption correct?
@@ShivamMishra-ol1pg fall rate will not change. The filter will be less efficient. Therefore fan will work harder to filter the same air. It will be less efficient but it will save your money
@@ShivamMishra-ol1pg I guess what he means to say is, it will save you money if you don't follow the fall rate and keep on using the old filter even if the indicator shows that you have to replace it already.
My 2S have been used since at least 3-4 years now. I tried to clean the filter just like in your video but found the filter to be very clean. I dont see any dust at all on the surface. Im wondering if my air purifier is working at all. I put a piece of kleenex tissue on the casing and it does get stuck on it but just barely holding on. Btw I just changed the filter yesterday and again I see no dust on the surface of the old filter which I remind you is several years old.
I usually use manual mode instead of auto. I found out auto mode doesn’t really work because it just configure based on air quality(which not really accurate). So i suggest you to use manual mode and you will see the thick dust after few months.
Sir, if I already vacuumed the filter and placed it back in the air purifier, in my Mi App, it is still showing that the estimated lifespan of my filter is 1day (1%).. Will it change? I have a Mi Air Purifier 2H.
There's a filter reset button on the back.... It will reset the percentage. Companies say you should reset after changing the filter ( give us your money ). I try to prolong the life span of the filter by vacuuming and sensor says my air is clean. 😌 I will buy a new filter .. but not so soon. 6 months doesn't suit my budget.
Does the xiaomi air purifier force you to replace the filter? There's supposed to be like an RFID per filter, and there's like a countdown? Once it reaches 0%, the air purifier will refuse to work already unless you replace the filter?
Best to clean outside and not in the room to avoid any particle recycling. Shame that xiaomi does not show the real filter efficiency, for example, based on the air resistance. An anemometer placed on top would show the airflow coming out of the unit. I doubt that the purifier adjusts the fan speed to compensate for the filter degradation, to ensure the air cleaning time is the same. If it did, when the life remaining was zero, the fan speed should be ♾! It seems that if the filter remaining is 0%, the fan speed does not change when the air quality is poor. It would of course be good to have monitors far from the purifier, perhaps xiaomi does offer these. It dows have a WifFi connection to the smarthome app. You can also get a separate monitoring device for PM at various sizes, CO, CO2, etc. from other suppliers.
We all want to avoid expense but this may cause much worse than what the price you are trying to save. If it works for you that's nice but others may have different outcome.
the number of days remaining in the filter is not a trick, but calculates the number of days you use your purifier from the day you installed the filter up to the last day, it simply tracks ..
You need to vacuum it every week if the fikter is going to smell buy a new one and clean the old one 4 times in the dishwasher. Let it leak out and dryfor over a week and you can reuse it

Aren't you supposed to maintain the distance of 20cm between the purifier, walls and other objects as per the manual?
Not good idea to vacuum this in house. At least 50% of this finest particles is now again in the room by passing vacuum cleaner.
not if the vaccum cleaner has hepa filter
i think, the really fine stuff gets embedded into the filter pretty hard, and won't come off easily

Make sure you press the RESET button for 6 secs at the back of purifier to reset the timer after you put the CLEANED filter back in again.
How often do you clean it?
But cleaning the filter does not change the RFID filter indication.
yeah but it stays cleaner that way, plus you can still use it even the indicator is red. im doing that on my own filters
