    Might be interesting to know that later made Horsa gliders interiors were not painted up to the ceiling. They were painted from the floor just underneathe the windows. The rest would have the natural (ply)wood coulour. there were at least 2 reasons for this. It would speed up the production and it would save a lot of (paint) weight. I have copies of original documentation stating this. In the Wolfheze glider collection there is an original piece of forward fuselage were the original colour still can be seen. In the Pegasus museum in France there is a original rear piece of fuselage wre the entire interior is painted green. The Horsa fuselage was constructed frome seperately made tubes that were fitted together and painted. Different parts could be made by other manufacterers. Cockpit tail wings etc. These would be fitted together by civilian workers at Brize Norton.

    you do a great job battling this pig of a kit! i suspect that large plastic pieces like the fuselage plates kinda lose their accuracy due to shrinking and warping. smaller parts behave better usually :)

    Worse here in Scotland in the summer! My secondary bullet water trap at the airbrush end cracked at the valve the amount of water I'm getting just now is crazy without a secondary water trap! I have to let the compressor run without the airbrush connected to drain it! That's with the heat through summer aswell i have a 3rd to connect now one bolted to the dest the same size as compressor one for the middle of the line and a new sparmax silver bullet on order! The last 6 months tops the airbrush end water traps before going brittle at the valve screw! It's odd it's like the water eats away at the plastic thread when press to empty it unless it's got thinner mixed through somehow I don't see how that could happen even with a back flow! good old acid water here lol

    • @lumickuang7805
      @lumickuang7805 6 років тому +1

      Shane Smyth - scale models That would be helpful for vallejo model users mate. Actually that diamond wrecker kit is very detailed kit but lots of problems with it. These problems are :
      1. Gaps
      2. Hard and britle plastic on some sprues
      3. Very big sprue gate,so need a hot knife to remove it from the sprue to avoid breakage
      4. Unclear and shrinking locating points even sometimes no locating points
      5. Lots of shrinking parts so need many adjustments and drilling or make the hole wider to fit perfectly (even for attaching headlights to the fenders i need to drilling the hole wider so the pin can insert the hole on the fender)
      6. Vague and missing instructions
      But with a lots of patience and with 1 or 2 crate of beers that would be an amazing kit lol.
      Sorry for my bad english :) cheers

    Great Work Lad!
    Your modelling skills are excellent!
    It's a shame that this huge, pig of a model, was possibly, hideously molded out of alignment, by manufacturer.
    You deserve great credit, for putting an excruciating amount of work, into correcting the outside panels.

    • @longlance67

      it is possible that some of the parts were molded warped but its a very poorly designed kit, I've tried to build the fuselage but the fit is terrible and the wings don't fit as an result

    Contrary to popular believe a lot of the Horsa (and waco) gliders were not just one way aircraft. Many of the gliders used in Normandy that were in good condition were checked and if necessary repaired by RAF maintenance units. Also useful parts were retrieved. These were send back to Britain by road or glider pick up / glider snatch. ua-cam.com/video/Dgu5yh0HkgY/v-deo.html

    • @jacksmodels7412
      @jacksmodels7412 6 років тому +1

      CoffDaddyJr I find gluing a piece of plastic sprue to the foot works, or you could use an old empty paint tin/bottle and hold the figure in place with blue tack or glue works for me.

    • @longlance67
      @longlance67  6 років тому

      the main method I use is using a cork from a wine bottle, then taking a paperclip and drilling it into foot of the figure and a dab of superglue to fix it to the figure and then a dab on other end to fix it to the cork as I push the pin in
