    Remember that Chinese people have these holidays for thousands of years even longer than any other nation on this planet. It is crowded in these three holidays but Chinese people are disciplined and every transportation works perfectly. Relax and see how well the Chinese infrastructure and systems work.

      When Lizzy says split the holidays, that'd be like splitting Xmas in 2 parts one in Dec and one in the following month of Jan!!!
      That would never work. It's called a public holiday for a reason.

If you happened to live in a city, like I did in Shenzhen, more than half of the city population (more than 6 millions) will go back to their hometowns and the city is amazingly quiet for about 7 days.

    China is definitly not only safe in recent years. When I was in primary school, which is 20 years ago, I was coming home from school alone, I accidentally fell asleep on the bus, missing several stops and finally got waked up by the driver. When I got off I had absolutely no idea where I was and started sobbing. The city I lived was a medium size city called Zhuzhou which has about 4 million people. A local mototaxi guy saw me crying so he asked me what happened. I was panicking, didn't know how to say things clearly. He was so patiently comforting me untill I told him where I lived and then he drove me home. My family wasn't so rich by that time still my grandfather gave 300 yuan to that man but he didn't even take it. He just sent me home and left. 20 years later, now I live in Rome.If I had kids I would never let them go to school or come back home alone in such city like Rome, it's chaotic.

    I have been lucky (Chinese wife plans the trips) enough to not have traveled during big Chinese holidays. I can't even imagine the number of people because there are a lot of people out on any given day (or night) of the year. It would literally be an ocean of people. Unlike many westerners, I actually love the large crowds of people in China, but I think during the holidays, even I would get claustrophobic.

    Just a heads up speakiing of traveling. Be careful where you go in China because of shody construction commonly known as toufu dreg. Yesterday news of a highway callapse causing 48 deaths. Gas explosions happen randomly in cities. Enjoy your holidays and stay safe.

    • @yibaiqian7886
      @yibaiqian7886 12 днів тому

      In fact, the partial collapse of the Fuzhou Expressway was not due to shoddy construction, but because the local precipitation exceeded 500 milliliters for several days, leading to landslides of the entire hillside. Naturally, the road section could hardly escape the disaster. Such an incident is a very small probability event in vast China. Besides, the road accident did not occur due to heavy traffic, but because all passengers except the drivers fell asleep on the expressway at night. Therefore, many people did not notice that a part of the bridge was missing after the landslide at night.

But New Year just gone, I went with friends to Shenzhen, and compared to the normal times I've been to Shenzhen, the place was dead!! It was actually a really relaxing and quiet trip. Because so many people have moved to the place for work over the last thirty years, holidays means everybody leaves for their hometowns!! I've been to Shenzhen a few times, and this was by far my favorite trip there!!

Yes, there are laws to protect workers' rights to take leave, but if such a thing really happens to an ordinary people, it will be troublesome and difficult for them to use the law to fight against their workplace.
