This is crazy. I've had nearly the same experience this past year! Got 2020 FXRLS, did it up clubstyle with the FXRT bags and T-Sport fairing, and then got in a wreck that did a similar amount of damage. It's been sitting at the shop for over 3 MONTHS now and as of yesterday all the parts still haven't arrived (think we are just waiting on cables from Magnum). Needless to say, not having a bike has been driving me insane, and it's good to be able to share that pain with someone haha. So thanks for this video! Maybe I should go break my leg too...
Really like the sport glide cases on the low rider, wonder how they would look on a fat bob, with after market pipes of course. But the rear fender profile is so different

Can we get an in depth review on the sport glide bags and how they mount to these soft tails models, how much they cost, and how you order them part by part through harley?
I have the same pipe but in black. I love how throaty and guttural it sounds. Even with the Harley tuner and stage 1 it runs very well and sounds loud when you twist the throttle.
The upgraded master cylinder was good info to learn and now on my to do list. I also run the S&S Streetmaster 2-1 EPA and Harley warranty compliant pipe and am very impressed with it. I have a stage 3 107 to 114 Sport Glide. That cam allows it to pull to 6k without losing bottom end torque. Same with the pipe. So it still makes effortless torque at 2k but also made 116 HP. Like your stage 4 114 a neighboring dealership built one that also made 117 HP. Not much for more cam plus heads. To ride his cat less 2-1 softail then mine you would be shocked by how much stronger mine pulls between 2 to 3k. The dyno sheet torque curve was excellent no dip as was the AFR. Between the pipe & the cam so happy I didn’t go the conventional stage 4 & catless pipe.
You and me both Nick. As soon as I saw the Bronx (which coincidentally is my dogs name ) I knew I was going to buy it. Now I’m crossing my fingers hoping they don’t axe the bike.
@@TheNostorian People say the same thing about cars. See all the kids getting financing on sports cars like S3, AMG 35s/45s, etc. What matters is how the driver decides to operate with the machine. If I ride like a maniac, then that power will be a disaster, sure. But if I drive responsibly enough, then I wont likely utilise all that power anyway. I like the aestetics of the bike and the modification options, that’s what’s drawing me to it. The capabilities are nice to have, to me at least.
@@drsparwaga Totally fine to start on a big twin like the Low Rider S if you are a responsible guy. Power will be less of the issue and more of the weight. Big bikes are easier to tip over. But so what? Maybe you replace a mirror, lever, and turn signal/grip? Not the end of the world. Get an engine guard and you won't be any worse off than if you started on something else so long as you respect the bike!

@@drsparwaga Bung King makes a popular one, its very clean and simple. Otherwise Harley has a coiuple available including one that has integrated highway pegs.
I can understand the pain of the collision and the wait. But thankfully I was using front and rear crash guards on my Harley so my tank, shock and everything else was safe. Handlebar got a slight bent which i got straightened and getting new heavier gauge guards again.

Awesome video, and really great to hear you ultimately made out OK after the track crash (and road crash). That's what's most important. Everything else regarding the bikes is icing on the cake, but also great. I totally agree, concerning the new HD LED turn signals, they're actually betting looking than anything on the aftermarket. For one of my bikes in particular, I'm planning to swap them in and take out the aftermarket inserts. The light rings are really cool. But great video, and great bike.
Glad to see you are healed up, when I was in not too long ago buying my latest bike, you were still busted up. I bought a softail slim for the GF, and after riding that bike, I was very impressed with the softail frame, I have been contemplating trading in my RG for a lowrider S but I cant bring myself to do it, I love my RG too much, and at 6' 280 lbs it's a better fit for me. On a side note, Andrew now has a road king?!?! What happened to the badass RG?!
Is that the S&S 2-1 SuperStreet? When people talk about California legal is that because of noise or what? I am here in Austin, Texas and looking for the best performance 2 into 1, I was looking at S&S.
@@anthonyr587 That was the point that I brought up that S&S told us, their Cat California Pipe makes more power through the midrange than their exact same pipe without the highflow cat. Biggest downsides to the S&S pipe are its not as loud, its a bit longer, and you have to run their brake pedal which makes it expensive. But you also dont need a tuner so that makes up some of the ground between the pipe and others on the market.
HS missed a massive opportunity this year cause for 2021 Sport Glide should have gotten the front forks and dual discs front brakes from the Low Rider S. So basically this bike is what the Sport Glide sould have been this year! BTW sweet buid Mate! 🤜🤛

I don't think we will see it in the current softail chassis, nor in the touring chassis, it wouldn't make much sense. That motor is a stressed member, there is no reason to stick it into a perimeter frame chassis like the traditional bikes feature. So if Harley builds a touring bike on that motor, it will not use the current frame. The Pan America IS a touring bike that features that motor, and the Sportster S IS a softail with that motor, at least as close as we will see. The new motor is going to blur lines of what is what because its designed as a modular chassis that you can build a bike around. I think we will see some really cool bikes with that motor, of all different visual and functional styles, but that motor will never be mounted in the current softail chassis, nor the current bagger chassis. It negates that motors main benefit, which is that the motor IS the frame of the bike.
The s&s pipe doesn’t come with the pedal it’s $165 part that sucks ball’s my bike has a lift on it and is still scrapes bad. It’s almost ground the peg on the bottom. I’ve been looking for a different option.

Sorry in advance if I missed this but are you running that exhaust without a tune and how so ? I just went through this and ended up sending the pipe back and getting the slip ons instead. The tuner situation is frustrating here In California. Also I am told both the 50 state 2:1 and slip ons are not approved for use on a ‘21 in Ca. I could have bought a ‘20 with 1,000 miles on it but passed. The wait is brutal.
Hmm, not sure, youd have to talk to my parts dept. to confirm but I don’t think there is an issue getting the 50 state legal parts. As for tune I’m not running a tuner. This pipe has a cat in it and it doesn’t seem to mind not having a tune. No fueling issues.
Thanks Nick, appreciate the response. My bike runs great with the 50 state slip ons. Just worried about it running lean and impacting my warranty. Btw, availability is not the issue with the 50 state exhaust. In CA , C.A.R.B. has not approved them for use on the ‘21 models. Not a huge issue, but if someone is buying them to stay legal, technically they are not for a ‘21.
What are the details of the race tech shock? You mentioned at about 12:10 that it’s helping with ground clearance. Is it longer ? and by how much ? thanks heaps :)
Race tech will custom make you any length you want up to the maximum for the stock swing arm which is 13.5. My shock is 13 inches, I had 13.5 on my previous lowrider but just felt that it was a bit much with the stock front end. Stock is 12 or 12.5, but keep in mind that every inch or half inch of length of the shock results in more than that in terms of total height due to the suspension geometry.
The bags mount in a way that lets you use Harley’s hold fast system for the new softails. So you can at least use the factory sissy bar options, aftermarket your mileage may vary as always
Hey Nick, I have a 2021 low rider S, I love the bike but I cannot see behind I have been happily stunting with a cop behind me. it is difficult to see for lane changes. Canadian HD dealers have `no mirrors that will extend and fit this bike. they are still using 2020 catalogues and cannot give me one big shortage. I think 2022 bikes are due soon !. what is on your bike? Nice ride.
Sold it to buy the Pan Am, but then the Pan am got delayed and preorders were through the roof. I knew it would be a year before I could buy one, So i decided to pick up the Low Rider S until the Bronx or something like it comes out.

@@rebel_ltz I could pay cash for the bike if I wanted, but I'd rather have the money in the market and make more in returns than I will pay in interest. Finance the things you can get a decent rate on, so you have cash to pay for the things you either can't finance or can't finance at a decent rate. No sense in paying cash for a depreciating asset when the bank will let me pay them back in devalued currency at a low rate.
If you work for Harley you can get one bike year for basically nothing. At least if you work in their factory. I can't say that for sure at dealership. I was offered a job in the York plant and that's what I was told. Of course I turned it down. Because they told me every Friday. I would be told what shift I was working the next week. It could be 1 of 3 shifts. So I turned the job down. Plus the way they lay people off he would probably be a waste of time anyway.
So what did you have to do to fit the hard bags on the Low Rider S? Anything special, or do they actually just fit? Because the website's parts page says they don't fit.
I have a huge question about the sport glide bags! I’m currently assembling mine and I hit a big snag with the latches. Is there any way I could contact you guys for your advice? You guys are the only dealer I know that has assembled multiples of these successfully.
I haven’t upgraded the master cylinder on the low rider, I was commenting on why the dual disk bikes have better brake feel than the single disk bikes and my theory is that it’s due to the different part number for the master cylinder.
I have the same S&S pipe on my 18 LR (114 Stage III), no complaints with nice sound and nice pull, my only complaint is the rear brake performance, just feels like it's doing nothing.
@@dannywywiasjr6199 I have the S&S 2 into 1 Superstreet. You can get it with or without the cat converter and in various finishes. For mid control bikes like the LR or LRs, you also have to purchase the S&S foot brake kit.

Great vid as always boys! Quick question off topic, I'm 6'2 and I'm on a Heritage and getting bad buffeting from the stock shield, what size would you recommend me upgrading to? I dont want to look through it I just want less head shake.
Its tough because it was done piecemeal, and then the collision really muddied the water too because there are now two work orders. But I can give rough ideas. Bags - 3k with paint, labor, and parts Bars - 1600-1800 parts and labor exhaust -1200 plus labor shock - 1300 Fairing - 500 or so with bracket plus labor Most of the other stuff was pretty minimal, 100 bucks here 100 bucks there kind of stuff. All said an done I think I put in an additional 7-8 grand. Bags were the big ticket item this time.
@@TH3G0ODGUY Thanks Nick, yeah I didn't even think it really through. I just think that showing folks the break down would help them understand what goes into these builds and give them realistic goals. For myself I tend to break my motorcycle upgrades into phases. Phase one tends to be about comfort upgrades. Phase two cosmetic and then phase three performance. I've noted that with the previous bikes I tend to average around 10k spent on upgrades and changes. I don't gear as far as some do but I'll break it down to anyone who asks me in person when I'm with my bike. I feel that it helps educate people into truly understanding what goes into changing your bike. Causes less confusion and friction in my opinion. You all do massive upgrades that can easily add 20k to 30k onto the price of a bike, which is awesome. That's just my speculation based on what I'm observing and those bikes are freaking beyond awesome. In my opinion more in depth breakdowns of that sort of thing might help people understand and cause less sticker shock for a lack of a better term coming to mind. I'd love to watch videos of you all doing a bikes upgrades in segments, with a break down of the parts, their costs and the time and labor costs involved. Anyhow, long winded post for sure. Thank you and Matt and the rest of folks over at Laidlaw's for doing these videos, keep it up. :)

Slim is more of a cruiser with classic styling, the low rider has a bit more grunt and better handling, so it’s relatively more performance focused. The low rider also has more options for customization
Correct. I was talking about my track bike gixxer’s calipers and not the Harley. The point I was making is that often we pay to much attention to the name on the caliper for determining if a bike has “good” brakes and not enough time focusing on the master cylinder because it plays a huge roll in braking and brake feel. The Dual disk softails have a different master cylinder that produces better feel in my opinion, much less wooden.
It was more that when I was honest with myself I’m not an adventure rider. I’d love a GS I’d just only ever use it on the streets. If I want to learn the dirt I should probably start with a dirt bike and if I want to do an adventure bike I should probably stick with an middle weight rather than a full blown 1250. For my use case, commuting and on road weekend adventures, the low rider s is perfect. Still would love a pan am though!
Yes there should be more middleweight, lighter ADV bikes. Most are all way too big and heavy to go off road. But the GSA does make a good road bike if you can manage the weight, size and get on with the Boxer engine.
Glad you're okay after those two stacks Nick. I've been looking at putting those bags on my FXBB - would it be possible for you to list the parts you needed to get the bags installed? I remember looking about a year ago and they were split into a lot of different components and ended up quite costly. Wondering if things have changed and there is a easier way to order the kit? Also did they come colour matched or did you need to get them painted? Thanks for any info you can provide.
It’s still a very long parts list with every nut and bolt unfortunately. Still pricey too. They did not come color matched, you can get them in any sport glide color so no midnight crimson
We do ship out of state but due to Harley’s policies you have to be in store to sign paperwork. You won’t have to pay California reg or sales tax though if we ship it.
I am starting to think Nick plays even on the end of the month on his paycheck. Bike after bike after bike. Living the dream.

Compliant with CA emissions standards. That's why it's got a catalytic converter in it.

the sport glide with dual fronts, the 114, and mid pegs would've been my dream, LRS is closer to that though so I went with that

Hmm, not sure, youd have to talk to my parts dept. to confirm but I don’t think there is an issue getting the 50 state legal parts. As for tune I’m not running a tuner. This pipe has a cat in it and it doesn’t seem to mind not having a tune. No fueling issues.
Thanks Nick, appreciate the response. My bike runs great with the 50 state slip ons. Just worried about it running lean and impacting my warranty. Btw, availability is not the issue with the 50 state exhaust. In CA , C.A.R.B. has not approved them for use on the ‘21 models. Not a huge issue, but if someone is buying them to stay legal, technically they are not for a ‘21.
Does the s and s pipe require just the spacer or do yuh have to run that break arm
What are the details of the race tech shock? You mentioned at about 12:10 that it’s helping with ground clearance. Is it longer ? and by how much ? thanks heaps :)
Race tech will custom make you any length you want up to the maximum for the stock swing arm which is 13.5. My shock is 13 inches, I had 13.5 on my previous lowrider but just felt that it was a bit much with the stock front end. Stock is 12 or 12.5, but keep in mind that every inch or half inch of length of the shock results in more than that in terms of total height due to the suspension geometry.

Would the bags fit with a sissy bar?
The bags mount in a way that lets you use Harley’s hold fast system for the new softails. So you can at least use the factory sissy bar options, aftermarket your mileage may vary as always
Hey Nick, I have a 2021 low rider S, I love the bike but I cannot see behind I have been happily stunting with a cop behind me. it is difficult to see for lane changes. Canadian HD dealers have `no mirrors that will extend and fit this bike. they are still using 2020 catalogues and cannot give me one big shortage. I think 2022 bikes are due soon !. what is on your bike? Nice ride.

Sold it to buy the Pan Am, but then the Pan am got delayed and preorders were through the roof. I knew it would be a year before I could buy one, So i decided to pick up the Low Rider S until the Bronx or something like it comes out.

Relocate the rear turn signals. Other than that it mounts to the softail docking hardware.

@@rebel_ltz I could pay cash for the bike if I wanted, but I'd rather have the money in the market and make more in returns than I will pay in interest. Finance the things you can get a decent rate on, so you have cash to pay for the things you either can't finance or can't finance at a decent rate. No sense in paying cash for a depreciating asset when the bank will let me pay them back in devalued currency at a low rate.
I've bought 3 new Harleys over the course of working here, so that's 3 bikes over 3.3 years.
If you work for Harley you can get one bike year for basically nothing. At least if you work in their factory. I can't say that for sure at dealership. I was offered a job in the York plant and that's what I was told. Of course I turned it down. Because they told me every Friday. I would be told what shift I was working the next week. It could be 1 of 3 shifts. So I turned the job down. Plus the way they lay people off he would probably be a waste of time anyway.

I have a huge question about the sport glide bags! I’m currently assembling mine and I hit a big snag with the latches. Is there any way I could contact you guys for your advice? You guys are the only dealer I know that has assembled multiples of these successfully.
What was the upgrade that you do to the master cylinder to improve the brakes?
I haven’t upgraded the master cylinder on the low rider, I was commenting on why the dual disk bikes have better brake feel than the single disk bikes and my theory is that it’s due to the different part number for the master cylinder.
I have the same S&S pipe on my 18 LR (114 Stage III), no complaints with nice sound and nice pull, my only complaint is the rear brake performance, just feels like it's doing nothing.

@@dannywywiasjr6199 I have the S&S 2 into 1 Superstreet. You can get it with or without the cat converter and in various finishes. For mid control bikes like the LR or LRs, you also have to purchase the S&S foot brake kit.

No tuner. Seems fine since the pipe has a high flow cat, once I do an intake i will get the tuner

I also rode a gsxr1000 for years before i decided to switch to a harley and bought a Low Rider S. if I were to get a set of sport glide saddlebags from a friend would I be able to fit them to my low rider s with little to no modifications? if so what are the mods that are necessary? i have a friend that has offered to sell me his so I really need to learn how to make this work. Would love to have a break down of costs for what you've done to the bike.
Its tough because it was done piecemeal, and then the collision really muddied the water too because there are now two work orders. But I can give rough ideas.
Bags - 3k with paint, labor, and parts
Bars - 1600-1800 parts and labor
exhaust -1200 plus labor
shock - 1300
Fairing - 500 or so with bracket plus labor
Most of the other stuff was pretty minimal, 100 bucks here 100 bucks there kind of stuff. All said an done I think I put in an additional 7-8 grand. Bags were the big ticket item this time.
@@TH3G0ODGUY Thanks Nick, yeah I didn't even think it really through. I just think that showing folks the break down would help them understand what goes into these builds and give them realistic goals. For myself I tend to break my motorcycle upgrades into phases. Phase one tends to be about comfort upgrades. Phase two cosmetic and then phase three performance.
I've noted that with the previous bikes I tend to average around 10k spent on upgrades and changes. I don't gear as far as some do but I'll break it down to anyone who asks me in person when I'm with my bike. I feel that it helps educate people into truly understanding what goes into changing your bike. Causes less confusion and friction in my opinion.
You all do massive upgrades that can easily add 20k to 30k onto the price of a bike, which is awesome. That's just my speculation based on what I'm observing and those bikes are freaking beyond awesome. In my opinion more in depth breakdowns of that sort of thing might help people understand and cause less sticker shock for a lack of a better term coming to mind. I'd love to watch videos of you all doing a bikes upgrades in segments, with a break down of the parts, their costs and the time and labor costs involved.

Slim is more of a cruiser with classic styling, the low rider has a bit more grunt and better handling, so it’s relatively more performance focused. The low rider also has more options for customization

The inverted fork Harleys don't have Brembos up front, they are Nissin calipers.
Correct. I was talking about my track bike gixxer’s calipers and not the Harley. The point I was making is that often we pay to much attention to the name on the caliper for determining if a bike has “good” brakes and not enough time focusing on the master cylinder because it plays a huge roll in braking and brake feel. The Dual disk softails have a different master cylinder that produces better feel in my opinion, much less wooden.

Er you want a Pan America but bought a Low Rider S. Wouldn't a BMW GS1250A be a better adventure bike option?
It was more that when I was honest with myself I’m not an adventure rider. I’d love a GS I’d just only ever use it on the streets. If I want to learn the dirt I should probably start with a dirt bike and if I want to do an adventure bike I should probably stick with an middle weight rather than a full blown 1250.
For my use case, commuting and on road weekend adventures, the low rider s is perfect. Still would love a pan am though!
Yes there should be more middleweight, lighter ADV bikes. Most are all way too big and heavy to go off road. But the GSA does make a good road bike if you can manage the weight, size and get on with the Boxer engine.
Glad you're okay after those two stacks Nick. I've been looking at putting those bags on my FXBB - would it be possible for you to list the parts you needed to get the bags installed? I remember looking about a year ago and they were split into a lot of different components and ended up quite costly. Wondering if things have changed and there is a easier way to order the kit?

It’s still a very long parts list with every nut and bolt unfortunately. Still pricey too. They did not come color matched, you can get them in any sport glide color so no midnight crimson

Matt will you ship a bike to Texas. I would rather deal with you than many other Harley dealerships.
We do ship out of state but due to Harley’s policies you have to be in store to sign paperwork. You won’t have to pay California reg or sales tax though if we ship it.
