Sh2's music is my favorite in the series, and has a consistent tone throughout all of its tracks that makes it more pleasant to all together (as opposed to all the thematic differences between the other games' soundtracks)

bloober team will find a way to ruin it.. its sad but their track record isnt the best. maybe that new Silent Hill F will be good tho. then again its being made by that team that made RE:verse and thats been in dev hell for a good minute.

@@darshio8307 personally i guess id rather be pleasantly surprised as a pessimist than disappointed by overhyping the game in my mind. if literally any other team was behind the game id be hyped. bloober team already made a silen hill rip-off call the medium and it was awful.
I never played this game but i can tell it has a deep vibe. Feels depressive and so beautiful at the same time
PC port of SH2 is abandonware and freely available to download, and there's a great fan patch that fixes a ton of bugs/ups the resolution to make it better looking than ever. Get to playing!

A perfectly apt description of Silent Hill! Especially Silent Hill 2. Fantastic games, ones that hit in a way none others have for me. There's a few sites for abandonware and other emulation ports, Vimm's Lair is a top tier one despite the old website design.
You should just play it. The game is way deeper then you would ever believe

But i cant stress how much i love this franchise and its music. thank you for making these ambient mixes with the rain. its beautiful. idk why but blasting that first track with the ambience gave me chills and made me emotional. life is so short i remember playing these games when they were released like it was yesterday. so long ago and i feel like i havent changed

I know, it's so dreamy and haunting atmosperically... It takes me back to my old apparment, where dark spirits used to gather during the day.

This is something I have in my soul from time to time even if the weather's sunny. Helps to overcome a lot of unpleasant thoughts.
Having finally played SH2 myself (with an emulator), I am amazed at how the Fog looks. The game holds up well, but the fog brings everything together. Don't need to mention the music or themes, all quality. To experience this game back in 2001 would have been incredible. To go from PS1 blocky graphics to SH2's immersion would be as jaw-dropping as playing a next gen game today.
Dude I had a copy back in like 2007 when I s a kid and it got locked in storage and forgot about along with my ps2 and castlevania curse of darkness. I wish I coul play them again without spending hundreds of dollar lol

This was my 3rd game on PS2 back in 2002 with GT3 and GTA VC, and yeah all those games at the time felt super realistic and intense which is kind of laughable when you look back at them now. I remember actually being scared of this game (I was only a kid) but also being shocked at the end.
That is why PS2 will always be the greatest console. The leap in visuals, world and story building from past generations to the PlayStation 2 were so vast and remarkable..
I feel like I discovered gold. been looking for a new OST to listen to on repeat and I found one. never played this game in my life but I can tell it is something special.

Silent Hill 2 is one of those quintessential gaming monuments. I prefer SH1 a bit more, but two is one of THOSE games that will remain in your heart to the very grave afterwards. Both of the OG SH titles have tons of replay value too.
@@rvalle11 There was legit PC ports for SH2-4, but they were only released in physical form. They are literal abandonware, so just look them up online. Do play SH1 first though; it's a PS1 game, so easily emulated on the DuckStation emu. It's a much stronger introduction to the eerie world of Silent Hill. For SH2, grab the Enhanced Edition mod for a better compatibility, bug fixes, and visual / performance improvements.
When this game came out it was something unique. This atmosphere was not known from video games. It's been 22 years since I played it. But I still remember exactly how I felt about it. It was incredibly oppressive.

There's just something magic about the first 4 Silent Hill games, specially the second, the atmosphere is so immersive, deppressing and magic at the same time. And the music is simply awesome
the second one was a remake, the third one didn't continue with the main character from the original, the fourth one was too disconnected from the franchise
@@mindscape1621 Second one a remake? And what about the main character from the third one? the games changes and the protagonist too. It's super good and interesting for us and the saga that at least the third game follows the story of the first one, and really mades a saga that connects and expands.
And the fourth one, well... certain people loves it and find it interesting and exotic, but it's valid that you dind't like it. (Sorry if it's not well wrote, i don't know english gramaticallly very well).
@@mindscape1621 SH2 needed a fresh start that the rest of the series lacks (and thats Sato's involvement as a writer/art director). SH3 works in its constraints and would be boring if it was another story about harry mason from his perspective. Shattered memories had it covered.
There's a fantasy element to the games and especially the second one. The moments in between puzzle solving or evading mobs are beautiful in such a way that, while you don't want to be there forever, you almost wish you could forget anything else and it could be pleasant. It adds to the motivations of some of the weirdo characters you meet through the series, you can see why someone might want to stay in silent hill. Their insanity almost makes sense and that's what's so psychologically terrifying for me.
I love the intro even if it's just the beginning of sh2. It blends so perfectly with day of the night and the rain

Just finished this game for the first time today. What an amazing game, it’s gotta be one of my favorites of all time and I’m very excited for the remake.
Loved the peaceful yet ominous sounds of these games so much, I think thats what made this particular game feel more dreamlike

This installment of the Silent Hill franchise is the one that I have dominated the most. I always have plenty of ammo, health, and extras left by the time I beat it. I have come back to pay it time-and-time again. I love playing it!

SH games have near endless replay value.
I revisit them almost annually. Have done so since year 2000.
That's 23 years and dozens of playthroughs. I can feel the itch again.

I remember this game from 15 years ago on my old XP computer. I was surprised there were in fact multiple endings, and that I got the bad one by my playstyle which left health unhealed

Terrific compilation. This game...I'll admit I love SH1 and having played SH2 not long after it left me disappointed due to enemy variety and the general emptiness of the world. However, as time has gone on, this game has grown on me significantly. I found myself listening to the soundtrack and reflecting on the story. I think I played it expecting something that it wasn't, and now I embrace it for what it is -- that being surreal, melancholic experience with right amounts of doom and gloom. I'll play it again maybe next halloween.

Not a SINGLE SH fan is "happy" about this butchered goddamn de-make. And fuck KONAMI. Rather than waiting for yet another disgraceful modern "Netflix adaptation", just pirate the original 2001 game's PC port, and slap the Enhanced Edition mod on top.
BOOM - perfect, untainted 4K / 60fps remaster, with no content cuts, no modern garbage gameplay, and no overacted emofest characters.

My mom used to play silent hill when i was a little kid, and i remember looking at her playing. The music is one of the things that got stuck with me, hearing these songs while my mom was stuck in the story haha

Never played this game and barely know anything about it but i love the soundtrack

The original Silent Hill trilogy consists of timeless masterpieces that revolutionized the entire survival horror genre, not only inspiring countless psychological horror games afterwards, but also literally dethroning Resident Evil for a brief moment in history. They're some quintessential video games of the very Y2K era, and easily played on any mediocre PC made in the past decade. Just look up the SH PC Guide + DL links online.
Then Konami did essentially the same they did to Kojima Productions: kicked the original team out, kept the SH's IP as a hostage, and started whoring it to random Western studios and goddamn Hollywood producers, ruining it for all eternity.
The Day Of Night is the best SH song.

Sofri com isso por 9 anos, por 6 tentei vários remédios e terapia mas infelizmente só piorava e eu não tinha + oq fazer. Por favor não se sinta ofendido, eu só quero comparttilhar o que funcionou pra mim pq sei como é sofrer com isso: eu era praticamente ateia mas qd eu abri meu coração e busquei socorro em Jesus, em 1 mês eu tava livre dos remédios e do tormento, e passei a ter paz e a dormir mt bem. Se for problema físico e padrões de pensamento errados, o tratamento pode ajudar muito, mas pra mim não adiantava nada. Só mudou qd me rendi.

Amo silent hill aunque se suponga que esa ciudad causa terror a mi me da paz, momentos de tranquilidad en soledad.
Silent Hill 2 almost never felt like a scary game to me. There were its scary moment (particularly with the themes), but it always felt like more of a vibe to me. Like a comforting emptiness, you know? Not many games quite like it for what know. If there is any games or music that evoke a similar feeling, can someone let me know?

always felt this way with the dark souls series and recently with resident evil now that 4 got remade. i often get a lot of that comforting feeling as well from games like that. just from hearing the soundtrack i can’t wait to play the silent hill 2 remake when it comes out.
