  • Let's learn about Argentina wines! We're going to cover Argentina's signature red grape Malbec, one of my favorite wines to bring to a bbq, and the main wine regions inside Argentina (Salta, Mendoza and Patagonia).
    Today I'm drinking:
    Chakana Estate Selection Malbec
    Region: Uco Valley (Mendoza, Arg)
    Vintage: 2018
    Happy Belated World Malbec Day!!

My wife and I loved Argentina. The malbec wines bring back great memories. Suggestion for future topic - Washington state wines.

This was really interesting! I haven’t really explored Argentinian wines but I’ll try and pick up a Malbec from there soon.
I’ve been having a lot of luck with wines from Chile so if you could do a video about those I’d love to watch it. I just picked up the last two bottles available in my local store of a Carménère that I discovered last December and I’m really excited to drink them but I’d love to know more about them as well.

The crazy thing about Argentina is the summer hail that can destroy vineyards with little to combat the hail. For $9, the Alamos Malbec is good. It is very fruit forward, has silky tannins and good acid to be a crowd pleaser.

It's a synthetic cork even though it looks real.

If after pouring you notice that wine is leaking from the cork.
Sometimes this is the result of residual wine from the Needle and the Needle path in the cork that settles to the top of the cork and will cause some dripping. It is a normal circumstance. If you notice a steady stream of wine however that is an indication that the wine is bottled with a synthetic cork that will not reseal.

Unfortunately, it was the latter. A constant drip would come out if I put the bottle on its side. But don't worry the bottle didn't go to waste! My friends and I enjoyed it with dinner. 👍
