I absolutely agree with you, Diane. I’ve found there’s a large over 60s demographic here - and also people in their 30s who like to hear what we have to say. I’m having a lot of fun making my videos, and even more answering comments - UA-cam feels like a very connected space. I’m growing fast now that I’ve started posting solo videos (I’ve been posting mainly conversations up to 4 weeks ago) I’m looking forward to monetisation! I love your style of delivery - and that light! Fab. ❤
I am 73 years-old and started my UA-cam Channel on October 16th. I just shot video number five this morning. I am already having the best time. I don't have a large friends and family group, so I rejoice with every new subscriber (I currently have 21.) Thank you for your videos and encouragement.
HELLO STARSHINE! I SAW YOUR COMMENT UNDER A DIANE MOORE VIDEO I SUBSCRIBED✅️ IAM 67 AND MY DAUGHTER-IN-LAW MARY ELYSE STARTED MY CHANNEL OCTOBER 18,2024 WISHING YOU ALL THE BEST! HAVE FUN! LOVE,VIC🌻💖🌻
@DianeMoore i set up my channel as being a new retiree but the video im going to attempt will be doing light renovations to my 130 year old house and i dont have a clue what i am doing.... thoughts??
Hi Diane, you have been a huge inspiration! I am 60 years old and just starting my channel, Reflections with Rosalie. I truly appreciate your authenticity and encouraging videos. Thank you!❤🎉😊
It's just wonderfully good to see those who have lived a bit taking to the Internet to share the benefits of experience in various ways. I find the channels helpful and encouraging altogether.
I started filming 19 days ago. I am 67 and do wilderness, animals both wild and farm type, old buildings and Homesteads, one room Schoolhouses, and covered bridges. In 19 days I have put out 30 videos between 8 or 10 seconds, up to five minutes. I am learning about lighting and editing. I can't walk much anymore and I shake a lot for this type of video. But I'm doing my best. 12 people have subscribed so far, but I am having fun
You have me inches away from starting my Data Analytics channel! I have over 15 years in multiple Fortune 500 companies and want to share my insights and how to start to break into the biz. Aimed at career changers. Still kinda weary though
She has put fire 🔥 under my a$$ to continue on. I tried to start a podcast in 2020 but I didn’t like just being audio. I did seven episodes and quit. I do believe that our generation has a lot to share. I took a speech class and the general idea is to talk about what you know. All I really know if general life- I have no particular knowledge per se- no big career. But I’m smart, funny, realistic, happy where I am. I have experiences to share- and when I think about it- I get scared to share my personal life. I don’t use facebook often and even less the other social media platforms. But I still want to share- I feel like this is very therapeutic to share all of this with people my own age posting. I think UA-cam is off so and I have no other subscriptions. Well, thanks for letting me vent and share !!!❤❤ I’ve got fire to figure it out!
Diane, I want to take you to lunch! You'd be one of my good friends in real life. Thank you for being so encouraging! And I hope your neck is doing well.
One of the helpful things we can offer is encouragement. Because we are a little ahead on the road, we can let folks know that it will be okay, that their efforts will pay off, if they just keep at it, whether it’s cleaning their house, learning a new language, or managing their mental health. Thank you for your encouraging voice.
Hello from OH. This brought tears to my eyes! I am in the planning stages and trying to wrap my head around what I am about to embark on. Thank you for adding to my confidence and tank of courage! I have had some major life changes lately and am still making some adjustments. I am getting there!
Good afternoon my people, I'm watching you mum from East Africa Kenya.. You are inspiring me alot mum. I'm also a young youtuber not having many subscribers but I know one day I will have people to watch my videos. Just trusting the process
Thank you Diane for starting this channel, it’s just what I needed to answers my “how do I do this and that questions” that have stoped me in my tracks for over a year. I can’t thank you and the 73 year old who started a channel on October 16 for the inspiration to start sharing what I think will benefit a huge number of people.
Thank you Diane for you inspiration. I started my UA-cam channel in my late 40s just for fun and deep down hoping it would grow. It didn't. BUT I wasn't consistently posting. Fast forward 5 years and today I'm taking it more serious and post every week on the same day, same time. I'm growing. It's slow but the community I've found here is awesome and I'm starting to get small pay checks from YT.
YT has definitely given me the opportunity of developing my creativity. I'm also finding other interests that I never thought of developing had it not for creating videos on this platform 😀
Fellow Gen-Xer here and I love your channel! I just started my channel in the personal finance space. Largely because I feel like UA-cam has become a used car lot of click bait, bad advice and not-authentic intensions. I have 30+ years in the finance space (still working full-time mind you) and thought UA-cam needed more authentic folks who are here to provide real information whether anyone sees it or not. I don't show myself on the channel as I value my privacy and frankly, I don't like all the UA-cam "talking head branding" that I see. Thank you for your post and I hope to see more of us taking over UA-cam in the future!
Thank you for talking about this Diane. I appreciate it. I have been contemplating starting a UA-cam channel for almost a year and a half. And I’m finding that I can talk about so many things. And when I listen to others, tell me how to do a UA-cam channel that I need to focus on just one particular item or area I should say.I get discombobulated. You’ve inspired me immensely.
You are amazing!!, I feel like you are right here next to me , givingme encouragement. I am 63 years old female, looking for ways to make extra money . I almost cried, when you said, at this age we became invisible. And it's true. I am very interested on learning from you, we are friends now. Thank you so much for your encouragement and your great energy. 👍 🎉❤
Yes! We are needed on UA-cam. I am so glad I found your channel when I was doubting my content. Keep inspiring others to get on, and stay on, UA-cam. ❤
I love this. I was a huge UA-cam fan in my 20’s (even researched it as a postdoc project). But it’s now that I’m over 40, I have the patience to create content.
You are an absolute natural at this. Love the info you share. I get the invisible concept after turning 60. UA-cam can also be a great retirement supplemental income. Love how you make us realize it doesn’t have to be so complicated.
Your channel is refreshing! I'm over 55 yo and a Singaporean, and I keep my small channel going because I want to showcase my country to the world (not from those viral influencers' point of view with their catchbait titles and thumbnails). I am also the rather rare woman-geek who love comics and pop-culture and movies. I also love offering the spotlight to South-East Asian writers, artists and creators out there, because we don't get that much love as social media's algorithm really favours the westernised points of view, so I do livestream interviews with them. Basically, my channel is really a more visual showcase of my own personality, and it is a journal as well as a catharsis for what's bubbling inside of me. I'm actually an introvert, but doing my face and voice out there in videos posted for the public helps with my confidence. And I hope that what I share and what I show will help others one day! Even if the videos are all about flowers! hahaha
Thank you! This has indeed made me think more about the possibility AND potential of me actually doing this! I’ve thought about it for quite some time… it’s the seemingly technical aspects of getting it up and going that often cause me to pause. I look forward to checking out your “how-to” series. Thank you, and congratulations on having the courage to step out and pursue this (relatively) new outlet for the “over” population! I realize after listening to this that I indeed have a lifetime of experiences that could be of help to others. Wish you a great day Diane!
The problem I have is I hate that I look younger then my age 58 and sound like a baby I think people don’t take me serious I’m struggling with that but you have made me feel more comfortable ❤
Hi Diane. Love your bubbly personality. I'm definitely interested in seeing a video(s) on how to create the ebooks and courses. Can't wait to see it. Have a super day :)
I met a man in his 80's and he said, just when you are ready to tell your stories no one has interest or time to listen. So sad. I love to lean in and listen to stories. I am thinking about starting a you tube with a question, What Matters? I LOVE the elderly. Rich in recipes and stories.
Thank you so much! You came into my life as I was preparing to travel to Italy on a home buying tour. Literally, 3 days before I was to leave, I felt I needed to do this. I am tech challenged, but I figured I only need to film and get used to the camera and speaking. Where to look and how to sound... so much to figure out. I have no idea how to edit. Only have my phone, but there's a gimble, a small tripod, and a selfie stick sitting on my bed in the US, waiting on my return. Don't know how to use those either😂. But you know, you have inspired me, and I'm excited about the prospect of sharing my journey to find my "Under the Tuscan Sun" moment. I can't be the only woman of my age who got this inspiration when that particular movie came out. So I'm going to figure it all out... How do you eat an elephant??? One bite at a time... lol😂. Today, I'm getting a tattoo that says 'Attraversiamo.' It means to cross over. That inspiration came from the movie "Eat, Pray, Love" by Liz Gilbert. I've been to India to an ashram for a month, I'm in Italy on the eat portion 😂 and one day, I'll get to Bali, but I'm not looking for love because that lives inside me, every single day. Btw... I'm 65. Love your channel, and thank you again❤🎉❤
Thanks for the encouragement. I'm technically a baby boomer (born in '61), and just posted my first videos. It's a daunting endeavor, this content creator biz.
Hello Diane! So glad I found you. I've watched your videos along with other genx creators and you've all been such an inspiration to me that I've published my first video on this/my channel. It's been live for 24 hours or so. Hoping I find my community like you. Here to like, subscribe and comment to show support for our over 40s crew.
You continue to be so inspiring. Okay. I'll do it...! I am writing a book, and while I am spending time on that each day, I don't know when it will be finished and where it will go from there. These two platforms might actually benefit each other.
Thank you for encouraging messages. I’ve been wanting to start a channel for some time and have written down ideas. My husband died unexpectedly 3 years ago and I actually found a wonderful community on UA-cam. I don’t want to have a channel about grief, but more about the positive steps of how to move forward. Except… I’m still figuring it out for myself! So, definitely no expert! Not having all the answers holds me back, but maybe my experience is enough to get started? I don’t know, but I’m getting closer to trying. Thanks again.
Brooke, you’re the only one who will know when it’s the right time. But even as you’re still walking the path, I’m quite sure there are others who will benefit from your willingness and bravery. 🧡
I am convinced, I will be starting my channel soon. I'm pretty excited to start! I have no idea what I am going to talk about but I am just going to start and see what happens. I will let you know how it goes. Thank you for the encouragement, it has helped so much!
@@DianeMoore I ordered my mic and tripod today and I am going to start filming things that I do. I still have no idea what I will do but I'm just going to start talking. I told my daughter today that I really wish my mom had done this and we would have videos of her to watch now that she is gone. This is something I can leave behind to my daughter and grandchildren. My dad is turning 81 this month and I want to start filming our interactions as well. Maybe I can talk about having a parent with dementia, I know that many of us can relate to that or at least that fear. Thank you, I feel like I made a friend when I found your channel and I want to do that for someone else. Yeah, I'm pretty wordy, just never picked up the younger generation's love of abbreviated sentence structures 😆😆
Thanks Diane, I found you at the perfect time. Your encouragement is so helpful as I try to figure this whole thing out in order to start my channel as a gal in her mid 40’s, recently layed off. I’ve always wanted to do this so now is the time!
I started a few weeks back as a way to give voice to women for the trauma suffered at the hands of intimate partners m. I am looking for volunteers to share their story ❤ I’m 53.
I recently added some videos to my 1 video channel 😂. A few at Letchworth State park and a few Halloween shorts where one of them got some pretty good views. Thank's for the encouragement as my first step has been taken. 😊
Good evening @Diane Moore May I just say; I am over 50 and Starting a channel helped me to bring my passions together ~ Motorcycles, Photography, Beautiful scenery and a sprinkle of Good music to reflect my mood in that moment... Following my passions helped me escape my depression and the noise that the "Matrix" pumps into our heads on a daily basis. I upload my travels to serve as memories for Myself, for when I eventually become too old to ride and through just being myself I have met quite a few loyal viewers, that I now consider as good friends. So, I wholeheartedly agree with you. I truly believe Starting a youtube channel can also ease depression and help with PTSD and improve metal health. Very recently, I found the confidence of asking a beautiful girl to marry me. :) she said Yes! Thank you for sharing, keep up the good work, Best wishes from the Lone Wolf in the lakes. 🕊
Thank you for this more...."relaxed"... approach to starting a UA-cam channel. There's no pressure to make your first $100,000.00, make 10 videos a week, get 5,000 subscribers in 2 months, or whatever push is being used to get people to sign up for the program they are selling. This is far more laid-back and easier for those who may be a little older than others to digest.
So glad you've started - consistency and always slight improvements in quality are key, I'm finding. One small suggestion: I know you are posting nature in general, but perhaps posting some broad geography of where you are in the title (as well as the description) might draw some more viewers.
@DianeMoore Thank you for your advice. I am working on improving the quality and moving the content slightly towards traveling to attract different audience. Let's see how it goes. ☺️
Have to admit I just got discouraged after watching a couple you tubers warn about starting a you tube. People are getting sued, stalked, ID Stollen and hacked. They listed several things you need to invest in to protect your channel. It seemed overwhelming. I wonder if their target audience wasn’t the big you tube channels who are aggressive with monetizing. I am 71 and feel in preschool with this.
I watched UA-cam for over 4 years everyday since my mother died. Sometimes all around the clock from sun up to sun up. I love UA-cam. I watch it really instead of watching television. That isn't the problem...
Hey Diane, I just found your channel and binged through a lot of your videos. I'm in my mid-50s, too, and I LOVE it. It's a great phase in life. My challenge at the moment is: Do I start my channel in my native language, which I might feel a lot more comfortable in, or do I do it in English and thus potentially (if I want that) reach a far larger audience? Tough desicion.
Totally depends on if you care if it gets monetized eventually or not. If you do, I'd stick with English. If you don't, enjoy the freedom to do what you want :)
Yes I'm over 40. And yes I have truly thought about a youtube channel And what I'd like to do is share my life story like all of it. The good , bad and ugly and how I came to a spiritual awakening. What do you think about that. I do truly believe that a lot of the younger people would and could learn a lot from my information. My moto is Do as I say not as I have done. I'll patiently wait for your response Thank you Much love God bless
@@DianeMoore Of course I am sure you get asked this many times but if you find a free 21 minutes check out Sobriety And Silver and see what you created 😂
Im enjoying your videos, except for the regular weird refocus scene change thing..i guess when one actually looks at someones face and expressions while watching these interruptions do something odd to my brain..sorry i dont know the technical word for the effect u are using.
Thanks so much for this message. I’ve been procrastinating all year about doing a podcast. I love your down to earth attitude. Most of my customers are over 40. Me? I’m over 75 and still making my products and it’s time I get my voice heard with all the info I have to share.
I'm trying to stick with you and your channel, but I've made my mind up. People are cruel assholes when it comes to them towards me, and I'm over giving them free range to hurt me. No thank you. Get a new topic and I will come back. But I've made my mind up completely. They've hurt me enough and those people aren't worth the betrayal people intentionally do
That's great, Robin! As for Instagram, I think it's totally a question of how much you can handle and what your purpose is for the channel in the long-run. I'd say if you're starting UA-cam, just tackle one at a time. If you want to expand to others at some point, then do it.
You are an inspiration! After seeing some of your videos I have decided to create a UA-cam channel at 61! I started in mid September. It’s slow but I enjoy doing it. I’m a mature Latina, cancer survivor who discovered my passion for art. Here is the link: It’s never too late to follow your passion!
I use that "eat an elephant" line all the time. It's true! Glad you're inspired to start!
Thanks for the encouragement. I'm technically a baby boomer (born in '61), and just posted my first videos. It's a daunting endeavor, this content creator biz.
It is daunting..... but sharing stuff that really helps people helps to make it worth it!
Yeh… I have felt invisible quite often lately. I turned 60 this year.
Maybe this will help
Loved this. I started my channel about 6 weeks ago. I'm well over 40. It's fun. I'm doing hobby type things though. ❤😀
That’s fantastic! 💥
Food for thought not previously considered. Thanks for presenting.
Oh I like to give things to chew on :)
Hey Beau - thanks for connecting! welcome to the team :)
You continue to be so inspiring. Okay. I'll do it...! I am writing a book, and while I am spending time on that each day, I don't know when it will be finished and where it will go from there. These two platforms might actually benefit each other.
Oh I think the day will very much benefit each other! That’s great! 💥
You are so good at this. You inspire me. I am not alone.
You're not :)
Thanks Diane.. you’re always so inspiring!
That’s kind - thanks
Thank you, Diane! Sorry if I missed the premiere, but this is great content. It is so appreciated.💐
Thanks! Hope it’s helpful! 💥
@ Thanks, Diane 😊
I am convinced, I will be starting my channel soon. I'm pretty excited to start! I have no idea what I am going to talk about but I am just going to start and see what happens. I will let you know how it goes. Thank you for the encouragement, it has helped so much!
That’s fantastic! Go get ‘em Ginger! 💥
So glad you’re moving ahead!
Thanks Diane, I found you at the perfect time. Your encouragement is so helpful as I try to figure this whole thing out in order to start my channel as a gal in her mid 40’s, recently layed off. I’ve always wanted to do this so now is the time!
Now IS the time! You can do this! 💥
Thank you so much ❤
I started a few weeks back as a way to give voice to women for the trauma suffered at the hands of intimate partners m. I am looking for volunteers to share their story ❤ I’m 53.
You are such an Inspiration ❤️
Thank You
Hey thanks, Susie! 💥
I started a couple of months ago. Thank you for the video Diane. Really appreciate it 😊
So glad you've started!
I recently added some videos to my 1 video channel 😂. A few at Letchworth State park and a few Halloween shorts where one of them got some pretty good views. Thank's for the encouragement as my first step has been taken. 😊
Congratulations! This comment is interesting. May I ask the name of your channel? Would love to visit it. 👍🏼
The first step is the biggest and you did it! 💥
@@Mtnsunshine I posted a comment on your channel. Thank you!! 😃
@@DianeMoore Yes, I'm very excited that one of my shorts, got over 200 views!! Mostly from Germany, Polans and Russia. Wow!!
Yes, I'm 46 years, and two months on UA-cam.Hoping to monetize my channel before November ends.thanks for sharing
That’s great! 💥
What a wonderful story! Thanks for sharing
@@DianeMoore 🕊
Lots of food for thought, Diane. Thanks 🌷
Lots to chew on then! 🙂
😊 Thanks Diane!
It’s certainly my pleasure, Lavonne 💥
Thank you for this more...."relaxed"... approach to starting a UA-cam channel. There's no pressure to make your first $100,000.00, make 10 videos a week, get 5,000 subscribers in 2 months, or whatever push is being used to get people to sign up for the program they are selling. This is far more laid-back and easier for those who may be a little older than others to digest.
Who needs more stress? :) I'm so pleased that this is in a style that works a little better for you, Kimberly.
I hope you are right. ❤
I started two months ago. Let's see if people want to see relaxing nature content.
Great content as always, Diane! I’m VERY much looking forward to a how to series if you make one. You have a knack for this!
Hey thanks, Leslie! I’ve got 2 up on how I make videos with my phone and my basic editing process. What else would be helpful?
Omg love you channel thank you so much you are giving me some tips on my channel ❤
I'm so glad!
Have to admit I just got discouraged after watching a couple you tubers warn about starting a you tube. People are getting sued, stalked, ID Stollen and hacked. They listed several things you need to invest in to
protect your channel. It seemed overwhelming. I wonder if their target audience wasn’t the big you tube channels who are aggressive with monetizing. I am 71 and feel in preschool with this.
Everybody has to do what they feel comfortable in doing. Always wise to be wary but not to the point that it paralyzes you
Inspiring again. Thank you 😊
Thanks for watching!
I watched UA-cam for over 4 years everyday since my mother died. Sometimes all around the clock from sun up to sun up. I love UA-cam. I watch it really instead of watching television. That isn't the problem...
Diane, I am 70 and just started 2 months ago, as usual I do not get many views. I love learning how to make videos.
I love that the creative process is so enjoyable for you, Jeannie!
Hey Diane,
I just found your channel and binged through a lot of your videos.
💜💜💜
Have thought for years of doing just that, a UA-cam channel, using graphics to tell all the human interest stories I have
No time like the present! 💥
Thank you Queen 💜 new sub!
So glad you’re here! 😊
Ah! I found a new home!
Happy to have you, Janet!
60 years old and starting posting on my channel for the first time. #60yearoldgradstudent
Fantastic!
Yes I'm over 40.
And yes I have truly thought about a youtube channel
And what I'd like to do is share my life story like all of it.
The good , bad and ugly and how I came to a spiritual awakening.
What do you think about that. I do truly believe that a lot of the younger people would and could learn a lot from my information.
My moto is
Do as I say not as I have done.
I'll patiently wait for your response
Thank you
Much love God bless
I think all of these things would make for wonderful content, Laurie.
Please have a video on how to download videos from phone to youtube channel
Thanks for the feedback. The simplest way is to just upload the video directly via the UA-cam app on your phone. No need to transfer it anywhere else
Gen X...here here...
Yesssss
I made my first video. I am now in the UA-cam universe lol
Fantastic! 💥
@@DianeMoore Of course I am sure you get asked this many times but if you find a free 21 minutes check out Sobriety And Silver and see what you created 😂
What settings on your iPhone are you using for this video?
Just the defaults and cinematic mode. I talk about all that in my Simple Setup video about recording with my phone
I’m 40 and I am launching my first video today 🎉😅
Woohooo! Glad to hear it! 💥
@ didn’t get that many views but it’s a start …. I made sure my second video was also ready to launch in a week 😀. Thank you for your encouragement!
Yeah, drawn to what I have to say to have something else to hate on me on
I think you need to bump up your aperture and get your whole head in focus because the fuzzy earrings are driving me to distraction! 🤪
I want to I just dont know which AI apps to use for a "No Face" channel
Sorry, I’m not your girl for the AI generated content. I’m all about the personal touch 🙂
I keep re-watching your videos. Does YT count this as watch hours for you?
Yeah, it does. Thanks! Hope you’re getting some helpful info, Julia 🙂
@DianeMoore absolutely, yes. And I kinda just like spending time "with you". 🤷🏼♀️
I'm trying to stick with you and your channel, but I've made my mind up. People are cruel assholes when it comes to them towards me, and I'm over giving them free range to hurt me. No thank you. Get a new topic and I will come back. But I've made my mind up completely. They've hurt me enough and those people aren't worth the betrayal people intentionally do
how do you deal with trolls?
If I’m in a salty mood, I engage with them. Otherwise, either delete and/or block from channel. Nobody needs that nonsense.
Almost 90% of my audience are old farts. Or, aspiring old farts.😁
Old farts rule.
Your channel everything is ok Subscriber view everything is ok. but your vidIQ SEO score is very low, it should be minimum 70+
This is not how to get clients. Please move on.
No disrespect intended towards you but no thank you.
I’m setting up! 😱 Would you recommend also having an instagram account?
That's great, Robin! As for Instagram, I think it's totally a question of how much you can handle and what your purpose is for the channel in the long-run. I'd say if you're starting UA-cam, just tackle one at a time. If you want to expand to others at some point, then do it.
You are an inspiration! After seeing some of your videos I have decided to create a UA-cam channel at 61! I started in mid September. It’s slow but I enjoy doing it. I’m a mature Latina, cancer survivor who discovered my passion for art. Here is the link: It’s never too late to follow your passion! A mature Latina cancer survivor found her passion

That’s spectacular, Cynthia! You’ve got so much to share 💥
❤ hello Diane thank you for your channel. New SUBBY here, am wondering if I could have a chat with you.. for some ideas of significance 😊 thank you
