    Just further proves the FL5 (nor the FK8) was not designed for drag racing. They had circuit racing in mind but many on forums and other videos want to compare them that way. This is a better comparison distinctly on parts and their performance. And I applaud you guys for it.

    Looks like further proof that the FL5 turbo is better than the FK8. I've seen people say the FK8 is better for power up top but never show the data. You guys and Hondata both have proved that to be wrong and the FL5 is just better everywhere. I'm trying to decide what turbo I want to drop in my Accord 2.0T and I've been leaning towards the FL5. It's cheaper than the FK8, and every other aftermarket option, and I feel like it will be a good match for my goal of a 330-350hp daily driver. Hoping that will keep it super reliable while adding a good amount of power. What do you think?

    • @DOOMLORDHOKAGE
      @DOOMLORDHOKAGE 11 місяців тому

      But for some reason in a drag race the fk8 is faster. Must be the weight and chassis isn't fully optimised

    • @thefoatmedia
      @thefoatmedia  11 місяців тому

      @@DOOMLORDHOKAGE There are lots of reason why that could happen. Driver, conditions, weight etc. In this specific case the gearing and weight play a big role in drag racing. Everyone assumes it's just "HP". You can take a well set up car with less HP and a better driver than a Higher HP car and win it all day. Key thing to remember, making power is only one aspect of racing.

    • @thefoatmedia
      @thefoatmedia  11 місяців тому

      If you're trying to make that power figure, why switch turbos? The stock one should easily get you to that with other supporting mods and it's more cost effective.

      @@thefoatmedia Because I don't want to have to mess with flex fuel if I don't have to. I'd rather get there with an upgraded turbo and 91 or better octane. And from what I've seen, getting to around 350ish whp requires either flex fuel or different turbo on the 10 speed Accords.

    Great video! Will definitely help people when choosing which turbo to go for.
    The other thing I’m curious about is, what Honda did to the fl5 gearbox to get rid of the gearbox issues people had with the fk8 and whether any of those components can be transferred over.

    • @thefoatmedia
      @thefoatmedia  11 місяців тому +1

      If you’re referring to the gear breaking issue, I think it’s still too early to tell if it’s been “fixed”. There’s not many people tracking the new type r, compared to the fk8.

    So whats the point for getting the PRL Turbo when it lacks 50ish torque to the FK8 and 60ish torque to the FL5?

    • @thefoatmedia
      @thefoatmedia  11 місяців тому +1

      When you turn it up, it will make more power than any stock turbo. Different turbos have different efficiency ranges. Depending on your goals, choosing the right turbo will play a big role in the cars overall performance. In some cases I recommend keeping stock turbo because of the low end torque, but keep in mind big torque spike can also blow your motor.
      In our case, we are looking for more power that stock turbos can’t produce. The comparisons were just a straight swap no tuning changes (and for those new to the new platform, doing this did not hurt the motor).

      Exactly, that's the whole point of the video. To show everyone the differences if you just swapped turbos without any additional changes. Once you start tuning some turbos will do much better than others. But then again the fuel system will be the limit which doesn't allow you to see the true potential of the P700.@@flawless_ether

    • @thefoatmedia
      @thefoatmedia  11 місяців тому

      There’s a lot of variables that only you can answer for “best turbo”.
      First you’d have to know: power goals?
      Purpose?
      Budget?
      For us we are not looking for big Hp like our Drag race cars, so the PRL700 is perfect for what we’re building it for.
