The FK8 Civic Type R is BACK!! After our huge fail with the downpipe install... we came back bigger and better. For today's video, we install a Pure Turbos turbo upgrade and the @maperformance downpipe/front pipe.

I heard that you weren’t supposed to heat wrap any pipes that have been heat treated? Something about it cracking/ruining the coating? I don’t know much about the subject, so anyone who is more educated feel free to enlighten me.
love the way it sounds. clean but still can tell it's got an exhaust. BUT I will say for the unknowing, that is NOT a big turbo. don't let anyone mislead ya. Nice upgrade for an oem+ track car though.

When you went underneath after the install I noticed you had the stock rear engine mount? Dustin, change it out to a Hasport 80A! Changing out the rear engine mount alone will be on the best mods you an do for daily or track. It will also help eliminate wheel hop

Upgrade your rear motor mount it makes a day and night difference
The FK8 is gonna rip with these new upgrades! Just hope the wrap helps the heat for the downpipe, if not I think MAPeformance has the PTP downpipe blanket.

Time for a JSR fuel system upgrade and a flex fuel kit to really maximize the output of that turbo!

Why pure turbos over MHI, Rampage, 27won, PRL? I rarely see anyone running pure turbos in the 10th gen platform in general since the others have proven their worth. (Not bashing on PT)
Also are you doing a flex fuel kit? a e30-e40 blend will definitely wake up this beast even further.
Unfortunately, for my class I’m not allowed to run E85.
Should change out that rear engine mount while you’re in there!

Pre-lube the turbocharger prior to first start up !! 😖 add clean engine oil to the oil inlet of the turbo while turning the shaft by hand until oil comes out of the drain...
Finally the fk8 is getting done and can't wait to see the z run's again 😄

I suggest don't go over 380wtq the 4th gear is very fragile a lot of time attack type R destroyed their 4th gear, EXCITED FOR COTA!!

The fk8 pure turbos have documented failures on the track. I think there were two that blew on the same day at the track. If you do some digging im sure you can find the same info i did. Good luck with the build otherwise. I commented on the last fk8 video but i guess all this is too late anyways. I tried tho
Which is why they made a new model… which, if you were listening, is the one I am using. Newer technology inside the turbo, wider diameter banjo bolt, etc. this is the first one out in the public. Also, like I stated, I will let everyone know how this one performs.
