I've had the tomtoc for my 2018 16 inch macbook pro for years and its held up beautifully (and it was super affordable) going to go with them again for my 2023 M3 Max MBP 14"
Don’t go down in size. Get the 16, you are not going to get used to the smaller 14
For me, the only important reason to have a laptop sleeve is for drop protection. Only the less expensive (and padded) ones you featured serve that purpose. The thin (and more expensive) sleeves in the video are only good for scratch protection - almost useless in my opinion.
The point of using a laptop sleeve is to protect your laptop from the outside world. The sleeve creates a barrier between the laptop and the outside world, which can prevent scratches and scuffs. Impact protection is also important, but it's only one aspect of a laptop sleeve's protection.

does an iPad fit in the native union stow front pocket?
Good question! I actually tested it out with my 11 inch ipad and it fit but it stuck out of the sleeve. I have a feeling the iPad mini would be a better iPad to put into the front pocket. 👍
Will it scratches the Macbook (MOft 3 in 1 Sleeve)?

Sorry, but you should absolutely NEVER charge a laptop while it’s inside a sleeve or case! The heat buildup would probably just shut down charging, but it could very easily become a fire hazard. I hope the gaps in these cases are not actually advertised for this purpose.
You mean don't charge "Windows" laptop in a sleeve. MacBook pro M series barely gets warm.
