    Yes it is comfortable to palm depending on the size of your hands I guess. Feels like a really big bait casting reel, but comfortable enough. Great reel. 👍🏽

    Could you comment on how smoothly this reel performs when reeling against something that has a decent amount of resistance such as some musky bucktails etc. I am considering buying one of these and I definitely like a smooth reel where you don't feel the gears at all. Thanks in advance. The other reel I'm considering is the Abu Garcia Revo Toro Beast. Any thoughts on how it would compare to the Tranx?

      I've seen the revo toro but never used one. I'm a big fan of Shimano though. I fish this reel in saltwater and have casted tady 45 irons. Feels really smooth and easy to reel in. I love the level wind on a big powerful reel like this, eliminating needing to guide line back on with your thumb. 👍🏽

    Awsome vid, thinking about getting this reel. When u fish it do u use any of the brakes? I'm old school and I fish newells alot, however I was thinking of getting a low profile reel for irons. I'm just wondering if u have noticed the brakes effecting ur casting distance negatively

      Zack Kay hey zack! I usually turn on every other break on my reels. I haven’t noticed any negatives while casting irons with this real which is what I use it for mostly. I’ll just loosen up the knob on the side depending on how heavy the jig is that I’m throwing and it has worked just fine. It’s a great real and you will have no problem casting iron with it. I use a 9 foot rod and it’s great 👍🏼.

      Reelumup thx so much, the tranx looks awesome, tight lines.

    It's more comparable to a Trinidad 16a. But hold less line.

    How does it compare with the 400 size reel?

    • @Reelumup
      @Reelumup  5 років тому +1

      Kenneth Cheong I use this 500 size for casting irons and flat falls. The 400 size is a lot smaller but also incredibly strong also. Both great reels. 👍🏼

      400 size reel are also really good at casting irons, but they usually lack the drag, line capacity, and handle length to crank on big fish.

    Do you have any issues with the reel reengaging during casting?

    • @Reelumup
      @Reelumup  7 років тому +1

      good question! i have heard that this reel reengages during a cast but I personally have never once had this happen. I love this reel, very strong and casts irons very far. no problems at all with it.

      Reelumup Thanks for the reply bro. Planning on pairing it up with a surf rod for stripers & sturgeon.
