Mr. Bean
12:37 Ya know, given how BIG Barbie is, you'd think the family would be smart enough to think a billboard advertising a museum dedicated to her would be bigger, fancier with font written in pink. Not writing in faded black paint on a rotten old picket sign.
Jon Lovitz kills it in this movie. Such an underrated comedian.
The barbie museum .
"A dollar!"
“I do not want to work at Home Depot!”
@@lordtrigon1733One of the best line in the whole movie
The joke about the “Lucy’s” on the bus is that THAT is exactly the kind of stuff Lucy did on I Love Lucy.
Babaluuuuuu!
No one ever reviews this movie. I'm so glad your friend has great taste. I still quote this movie to this day.
Agreed
"Hope I win" is me every day at work 😅
A few other people have recently if you look it up
I can just sense Mary’s gonna have lots of fun with this movie. This movie is actually a reimagining of an older classic film called “It’s a Mad Mad Mad Mad World”
She should watch that.
@jonathancunningham8739 I've watched reactors watch it before. It is old enough that they don't recognize its superstar cast and don't get many of the great references. It is one of my favorites from my childhood.
And the cast is a who's who of cinematic comedy. Even Buster Keaton has a small role in it. The climax with the fire engine ladder is classic.
That’s a great movie.
@@wmason1961 Again if she liked this film then most of the jokes will most likely land in the other film so I am certain the humour will be good also it is a nice introduction to the legends of old (Mean it in a nice way).
the guy with the tongue thing is so cute. when he starts crying and saying "mom is watching us from heaven" was so sweet lolll
and then the girl with piercings has the same lisp🤣🤣🤣
One of the most underrated comedy movies ever. Every single scene and every single character is hilarious.
Not enough people watch this all star comedy. This movie is legendary.
Jon Lovitz at the Veterans meetup is one of the funniest scenes ever in a movie. I always find him hilarious (like in Loaded Weapon or High School High).
I had completely forgotten about High School High, another underrated gem.
I always found the brothers the funniest, they just keep almost dying. 😂
When they arrived at the monster truck area, I completely lost it🤣
airport scene track Edvard Grieg "In the Hall of the Mountain King"
When I saw this in the theater I nearly peed myself from laughing so much. What got me the most was the "You should have bought a squirrel" signs followed by the skeleton clutching the bag of nuts that fell out of the car.
One of the best comedy ever! I was DYING on "Hitler's" speech xDDDDDD
I showed friends of mine in college this movie and that was the part they completely died at so hard😂
That moment at 25:19 when Mary thought Rowan Atkinson's character died. 😆😂🤣
He was jumping the train
8:40 Tchaikovsky?!? Are you mad? 😉😇 (jk)
No my dear, that is "I Dovregubbens Hall" (In the Hall of the Mountain King) by Edvard Hagerup Grieg. 😄😄
lol at least she knew a composers name haha
I came here to say the same thing! 😀
@@danholmesfilm She clearly does know her stuff though. A noob wouldnt even know the name Tchaikovsky. They have called it "Beethoven" because its the only name they'd know.
14:50 Amy smart plays crazy very well 😂
True
This is actually a remake of It's A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World, a 60's movie that had a lot of comedians who were well known back in the day and even If you don't know them it's still a very funny movie and I highly recommend it! The biggest name in that movie is Spencer Tracy, who was most well known for playing serious roles but he did some comedies too and he was married to Katherine Hepburn.
Even the cameos had some well known names too such as Jerry Lewis, The Three Stooges, Don Knotts and Buster Keaton.
Slight correction: Tracy and Hepburn were not married. Spencer Tracy was already married, and as a Catholic, he would not get divorced. But he and Katherine Hepburn did share a close relationship for years. (How Spencer justified having an affair but not getting divorced I'm not sure. People are complex beings, I guess.)
@@TSIRKLAND Ah ok.
Zazu riding with Newman 😂😂
I love this movie so much. It made "prairie dogging it" part of my vocabulary lol
Same! 😭😂 It's such a horrifying but concise visual that I couldn't help it
The remake of the classic It's a Mad Mad Mad World. I haven't seen this movie in a very long time. I one time screamed "Tai's boyfriend from Clueless!"
Loved that movie, It actually had a lot of big stars at the time. Not sure how it translate to today.
Yes!!! I’m so glad you react to this underrated classic….
I am so glad you’re reacting to this movie. This movie is soo underrated and deserves more recognition. Rowan Atkinson was hilarious lmao.
I love Amy smart. She was perfect in varsity blues and crank 😎
Rowan Atkinsons Blackadder series is a masterpiece 😄
Movie is underrated as hell 🖤
I love this movie. This should be on every reaction channel
27:12
It's a worldwide thing. It's called cosplaying.
Another hysterical comedy with a similar group treasure hunt theme is 'It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World'
John Cleese's character name is Donald P. Sinclair, which is a play on a real life hotel owner of the Gleneagles Hotel named Donald W. Sinclair. John Cleese, along with the Monty Python troupe, stayed there in 1970 and was inspired to write his own series called Fawlty Towers and based his character, Basil Fawlty, on Donald Sinclair. And if you listen to the John Cleese commentaries of Fawlty Towers, he really does have a wheezy laugh! You really notice it during "The Anniversary" episode.
Good pick up!
I can’t believe you’ve never watched Rat Race before. It’s one of the funniest comedies ever and it has a stellar, star studded cast
The legendary John Clesse of Monty Python fame.. playing Donald Sinclair
Rat Race, YESSSSSSS! Your hair looks gorgeous
Unique choice, Mary. Underrated film that didn't get enough attention back then. Still doesn't now, unfortunately.
I still have a DVD copy of this. One of the features is a gag reel that's more or less an extension of the last scene. It's when Blaine is trying to convince his brother, Duane, to put his share of the money in the back. This came about because director Jerry Zucker quietly asked the camera operator how much film was left, and he said only a couple of minutes, to which he tells him to keep it rolling. They both crack up while trying to deliver their lines. At one point, Seth Green (Duane) even says during the take "Just put it on the DVD", which is exactly what happened.😁
Breckin Meyer & Amy Smart reunited again in Road Trip. Another awesome comedy for you.
Yes, Road Trip is hilarious!
Road Trip actually came out a year before this (2000), but otherwise I agree.
That's twice that Whoopi was forced to give money to charity.
And her co-star from Sister Act is here too!
My favorite part is the scene with the escort. I can just imagine John Cleese sitting around with all his millionaire friends, discussing what is the most bizarre thing they could ask a prostitute to do and then betting on how much she'd charge for it. Damn, I wish we could have seen that.
If you want a movie similar to this to check out, I would suggest The Cannonball Run.
Burt Reynolds would have fit right in this comedy.
This is such a feel-good movie, just pure fun 😁
Hehe definitely!
A remake of "It's a mad mad mad world "
Which is much better than this by miles.
I prefer this version
It's A Mad Mad Mad Mad World is another good one. It's real old school (1960s), but very funny.
I am glad that you finally watched this!! I am happy you enjoyed it!!
"Can you imagine women watching this? Women would not care."
Yeah...can't imagine a woman watching a reality TV show...
Your movie reactions are the best. Your laugh is contagious 😂😂😂
Love the fact that you recognized Tchaikovsky immediately. My favorite composer
A real classic
I love how contagious Mary's laugh is 😂😂😂😂
It’s so precious
The joke about the Lucy fans is that in the show, Lucy was a huge klutz. She was always getting into these hilarious and ridiculous predicaments, and the more she tried to fix things, the worse it got.
This was fun to watch. 😃
I never caught the Psychic Whoopi reference before, despite having seen both movies, a bunch of times.
Same director.
13:03
It's called freedom of speech, toots.
I remember watching this back in the early 2000s. I'd forgotten how hilarious it was.
31:15 -- RE: Smash Mouth; Yes, one of the weirder turns in terms of cameo appearances, but obviously Smash Mouth's talent agency had been working to find film jobs because 2001 was also the year which "Shrek" got released and, as I recall, Smash Mouth were also a part of that production, renting "All Star" to Shrek's opening credits and providing the cover of "I'm a Believer" for the end credits.
Personally I would have watched the original "It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World" first. Both are really good none the less. The original was even parody by The Simpsons.
Wish there were more Amy Smart movies
I have a friend that, whenever something goes wrong, still tells me "you should have bought a squirrel"...
I would visit my grandparents as a kid, and this movie was a must-watch every single time. This and "Joe Dirt" xD Glad you enjoyed it! Not enough people react to this gem.
As a Norwegian i am offended that you said Tchaikovsky when its Grieg playing
So glad we got a review of this from you Mary! Rare to see Rat Race in a reaction video.
Childhood classic
You have one of the greatest laughs I’ve heard! It’s adoreable.
I’m so glad that you finally watched Rat Race! I remember leaving a comment on one of your videos recommending it. I’m glad that you were convinced by your friend. If you want to watch a movie just as great, watch the movie that this is inspired by which is called “It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World” released in 1963. Just like this film, it has all comedians in a race to get a lot of money and whacky stuff go on. Other comedians make cameos like the Three Stooges. I noticed that a lot of people in the comments are mentioning that film, so I recommend you check it out.
HOLY MACKEREL!!! This came out in 2001, you say? I remember loving it like it was yesterday.
All Star was featured heavily in three films around this era. This, Shrek and Mystery Men
Fricken hilarious movie. So underrated
10:44
“I would not be impressed if I was a girl” …. Are you not? LOL
It’s a shame they didn’t turn in into a franchise. Imagine the celebrities that could’ve done it
We saw this in theaters for my birthday a week after the September 11th attacks had happened. It was a very welcome reprieve.
LOL - this is so hilarious! This is where I learned the term Prairie Doggin' - Elling My A Off!
This was the first film I bought on DVD!
PS, That's not Tchaikovsky, that's "In the Hall of the Mountain King" by Edvard Grieg...
Always been one of my favorite comedies! Plus, Mad Mad World is also funny.
You only know Kathy Bates from Water Boy?? Well.. you MUST watch her best movie of all time written by Stephen King called "Misery" She won an oscar for that one! You watch that.. that will be the Character of hers you will FOREVER REMEMBER!! Forget Mama from Water Boy lmao... GREAT MOVIE!!
This movie is a classic, when I grew up, we had this on VHS and I always watched it on road trips. Jerry Sucker also co-directed Airplane! which is another comedy classic. Also, it's sad to watch this now after Steve Harwell passed away, Smash Month just reminds me of the early 2000's.
In the UK we call it turtleing because of the shape of its head and the way it goes in and out of the shell.
My all time favorite comedy.
Funny thing about that coin toss, i always assumed it was a reference to the Steelers getting screwed on the coin toss on Thanksgiving day game where Jerome Bettis called the coin and the ref said he heard the other and they lost. (you can see it on youtube if you search for bettis coin toss) As a Steelers fan, made me so mad
5:40 has to be the funniest part of the movie. The fact no one found it funny but him self 😂😂 one of my top favorites
Another amazing reaction Mary ❤❤😁😁.
Rat Race is one of my fav comedies. Very underrated.
What kind of movie/tv knowledge u have when u know John Cleese as somebodys dad and Kathy Bates from waterboy?😂😂😂
That smash mouth song was actually written for a little movie called mystery man you might want to look into it
Cannonball Run is a fun racing comedy
There’s OOOH of us!
22:33 -- RE: The I Love Lucy Tour; So Yeah, while it isn't strictly necessary to go back and binge-watch available "I Love Lucy" episodes, there were some very common character reactions for Lucy, and the "Waaaaaaaah! Ricky!" is probably the most common of all of them, likely to appear in any given episode. Lucille Ball married Desi Arnez, BTW, who was a musician and band-leader, before purchasing a television studio and forming the production company "Desilu". And Desi is Ricky RIcardo in the TV show.
"Desilu" got even more famous, though, because it was the TV studio which produced Star Trek's original series, at least its first two seasons.
I saw this in theaters when it first came out and everyone was laughing hysterically from start to finish.
Im sad that you only know the legend Kathy Bates from Waterboy lol.
We got lots of "history" museums in America, not just the Nazis but we got a kink for everything i Holmes the jack the ripper guy has multiple museums
"The Hotel New Hampshire" to see Seth Green as an incredibly talented small child in a movie that you will love.
Women would watch just for the drama and not even bet on it.
One of my fav childhood movies
15:00 "what about his poor sister" LOL
8:40 Thats not Tchaikovsky. Thats Edvard Grieg. "In the Hall of the Mountain King", its called.
Vince Vieluf, the guy with the tongue piercing, is from my town.
God, I loved this comedy classic and to me I grew up with this, so I loved this movie.
Freedom of Speech and whatnot, that Barbi Museum would be completely legal and it also very likely would still be out in the middle of nowhere like in this movie
In its a mad mad mad mad world the women play so much more a important role in thd the story again its worth watching
Mary quote: "I would not be impressed if i were a girl". Mary i have news for you ;)
Such an underrated movie!! Also, I’d love to see you react to some classic I Love Lucy episodes, used to watch them with my grandparents when I was a kid and they still hold up. The Vita-Meata-Veggiemat episode still makes me cackle.
This is a re-make of the 1963 film, It's A Mad Mad Mad Mad world, which included many famous people of the time and before.
Interesting connection to Squid Game. I think you're totally right there could have been some inspiration there.
I fell off my seat in the cinema watching Rat Race
That was fun! Forgot how funny it was. Your reaction was gold! Btw… I have that aloha shirt and so does Joey from Friends and David Letterman too!
