    I have had the full size PX 4 Storm in 40 S&W now for about two years and have run 2,000 + rounds through her without a single stoppage, using all types of ammo including lots of hand loads. I replaced the decocker levers with the stealth levers and converted to decock only. Changed the stock hammer spring with the Langdon #12 lb silicone and dropped in the Langdon competition trigger group. D/A pull is very smooth, crisp and clean. Talon grip tape keeps it glued in my hand with the snappier 40 cal. It really didn't need the new trigger group as it made very little difference. the stock trigger is really smooth straight out of the box and wouldn't spend the money again. The most accurate and reliable pistol I own. ( Sorry Glock fan boys, but yes, more reliable than my 17 or 19.) Absolutely love this pistol. I got it brand new at a deal that I couldn't pass up, $385.01 total including shipping to my FFL, and was the only reason that I bought it. Lets face it, it's an odd looking pistol but fell in love with her at our first dance. This is the ugly duckling that could, and does it flawlessly.

    I bought an old D Model (Double Action Only) used police Px4 years ago in .40 S&W. It was different than anything else I had used till then. Rough looking but ran faultlessly. I've since gotten the more standard format and a Cx4 too. Very much like them.
    Beretta sells the D model hammer/main spring, which can be switched out for the standard spring. Drops the double & single action trigger pull weight a bit for less than $10. Worthwhile switch.

    Great video! The rotating barrel does mitigate muzzle flip especially with the .40 s&w and .45 acp calibers. The DA trigger is smooth & heavy but the travel is too long even for a duty weapon. Once in single action it’s good for combat effective groups and IDPA.

I then bought a Compact Carry version, and then sold them both to Frank Jr. The converted PX4 shot better than the from the factory Compact Carry, but just a little. Frank, I believe that's the only movie in which he used the PX4 (along with a few other guns). He seemed to favor the 92, as he used that in a dozen or so movies. He has used some really nice guns, so I wouldn't question his taste - except when he used a S&W Sigma. Oh, and the couple times he used a Taurus PT92, but I guess that's close enough to his Beretta 92.

    I love mine. Great shooting pistol. I also own the Browning Highpower in 40. The Px4 is a better shooting gun. The Browning fits my hand better and was my EDC . Went with the Beretta because of the DA/SA trigger and mine is the (G model ) decock only. Safer and goes boom when you pull the trigger. No safety to fool with in a high stress situation, just goes boom. I go to the range regularly, I constantly see people try to fire their weapon and nothing happens, then they realize that they forgot to release the safty. I carried revolvers for years and the D/A trigger doesn't bother me.

      I have short fat fingers and the Browning Highpower fits my hand better because the grip is thinner. The Px4 is harder for me to reach the trigger, ( which is a common complaint for the Beretta 92) even with the small backstrap installed. The Browning shoots softer, even in the 40, I believe because of the rotating barrel. Also, to me my px4 is ugly, but the way it shoots is beautiful. Thanks for the video

    My biggest criticism of DA/SA is that many (like the px4) don't have thumb safeties. This makes cond.1 carry unsafe unless it has a safety (like the HK 23.) You can use DA/SA guns w/ safeties just like you can use SAO guns if you choose. Plus you will have with the added option of cond 2 firing minus thumb cocking.

      Craig, I should have paid more attention to your original question, rather than concentrating on the trigger. I haven't found much that beats the overall feel of the CZ. The grip angle and contour is second to none - this coming from a 1911 guy. And the CZ seems to be a little slimmer than the Beretta. I think the PX4 Storm shoots a little flatter than my CZ, but overall, I prefer the CZ.

      @@RidersRange that's alright. I love all my cz's and I love the 1911 platform, even though I am less accurate with any 1911's. There is just something about them that draws me to it. But anyway, thank you for your time.

    It best compares to the rotating barrel of the Grand Power K90 or Q90, I can't remember which is the striker fire and which is DA/SA. I sold it to my who now brother EDCs it. I sold my surplus Beretta 92F. I want a Beretta. I'll explore the used 45acp prices. Or 92 Wilson Combat.

      @@RidersRange Good idea. 👍
      Question I bought a 1000 rounds of 9mm 115gr and the box looked small and weighted 16lbs. When I put it in the skinny ammo can it came between 66% and 75%. I guess I have to count it? Is there a chart? Or how many 115gr = lbs? Suggestions?

    • @RidersRange

      If you are talking just 115gr bullets, not cartridges, 1,000 should weigh 16.43 pounds, not counting packaging. If you are talking cartridges, 1,000 should weigh in the neighborhood of 27 pounds (Including packaging), unless they are aluminum case.

    • @RidersRange
      @RidersRange  3 роки тому +1

      Billy, it's been a while since I shot a 229, but I don't recall it shooting as smooth as the PX4, particularly considering the relatively high bore axis of the Sig. I carried Glock 22, 23 and 27 before I retired and those polymer frame guns are much more snappy than even the Sig. My Kahr K40 might come close to the PX4.

    • @jaycee30865
      @jaycee30865 3 роки тому +1

      @@RidersRange thank you sir. The Sig has a high axis on paper but it is about equivalent to a 1911 or a 92 FS or px4. I need to get out there and shoot one of these. Would you say that the rotational part of the recoil is mitigated by the rotating barrel? Every pistol twists a little on recoil due to the rifling. 1911s twist opposite because of the opposite direction of the rifling. I wonder whether the PX4 more or less recoils straight up and down. Thank you again.
      Agree about Glock. I was used to a 1911 when I first shot one and I immediately said nope. Low bore axis or not the only good thing about them is accuracy and reliability and carry ability. :) The shooting part is just not fun at all.

      Billy, now you got me thinking. I don't own a P229, but I may be able to borrow one. I do have a couple 1911s in .40, so maybe a side-by-side is in order.
      I know that there is some rotational force, at lease in theory, but I can't say that I've ever actually noticed it in any pistol.

      @@RidersRange Good deal! I’d love to hear your range report on this. Yes there is always a bit of twist; when trying to get right back on target fast it becomes obvious. It definitely doesn’t go straight up. Wish all pieces had 1911 left hand twist but they don’t. Do wonder what px4 has on that note. Presume right is needed to twist barrel left.
      A 40 1911... if modern capacity, the ultimate. Love to know what that is... Les Baer?
      P229 has an srt kit that is mighty close to 1911 feel in single action if backstopped.
