    Hey Everyone,
As you will see when you watch this video, a lot work went into documenting the lead up to the 2024 Rox-Postrophy Tour. If you like this video and you would like to support future episodes of this series please let me know. We are playing with the idea of crowd funding the rest of the series on dweezilzappa.com. It will be coupled with a full concert from the 2024 tour and extras from the upcoming 2025 tour as well as special (AUDIO ONLY) releases from the tour.

I am in great appreciation of recent videos about what you gleaned from Edward. As a 3rd generation musician (DC jazz going back to 1930s), grew up absorbing Franks sound patterns. All I have now is a 1985 Kramer pacer with flat spots on the nickle frets above the 12th fret. I have to play every day or I become duller and lose energy. Playing Music is food for me. Youre one of the best guitarists on earth. Dweezil, thank you for making music against a backdrop of low frequency hambone crud for people who do not like music. - Darrel

I already like the video even before watching it. Everything you’ve put out has been fantastic, from breaking down the song to the spontaneous combustion (hope I remembered that correctly).
      I will definitely support this.

It's hard to explain the happiness I felt when I saw you were going back on tour in '24. It was magnified when I saw you were playing in Jersey and I scoffed up tix for me and my best bud- then we saw your show in Red Bank this year. It was, by far, the best DZ show I've been to yet, and all 9 were great. Seeing the stress and strain you've dealt with in this video, hell watching you tear up listening to that impossible part in Inca Roads, was heavy. May every show be SRO, may you return to Jersey, may you (and that fucking amazing band) triumph and continue treating us to the joy FZ's and DZ's music brings. ✌

Few folks realize the planning and costs of doing music. live performance is loads of fun but it all comes with the inversion stress in proportion to magnitude of 'fame'. Seeing Dweezil and Muthas in Dallas last night showed us all a band with a grounded humility with a ridiculous level of musicianship. They shook hands post show with the audience up front and that says a lot too. Great googly moogly what a performance.!

This was a great watch. Thank you, Dweezil. I'm guessing most fans have no clue as to what sort of personal sacrifice, and financial risk, goes into preparing for a lengthy tour with such a large band - particulary for independent artists not 'owned' and leveraged by a major label. I've been a fan of both Frank (since about 1974) and Dweezil, and I've seen them both in concert multiple times. It's obvious that Dweezil has a deep love, respect, and admiration for his father's work - or he wouldn't be doing it. It also appears to have become the proverbial cross for him to bear over the years. The incredible pressure on Dweezil to deliver for his Frank fans is tremendous. It's palpable just watching and listening to him speak about it. While I greatly appreciate his unquestionable committment, I feel a bit sorry for the guy that he has to artistically carry the weight of that mantle. He literally has to lose himself in the process, to BECOME Frank in a sense - for our entertainment. Dweezil is an exceptional creative talent. He's not a "tribute" artist. He's not his father. He's his own person, and I'm sure he's got creative tendencies that don't include his father's compositions. As much as I thoroughly enjoy what he does, I have to admit that I sometimes harbor a touch of guilt over it - as a consumer of what he's selling. I think it would be great to see Dweezil someday, unburdened by the devout committment of bringing us his father's work. For those reading this far, it might not be a popular take, and I love Frank as much as the next fan - but I would equally as well support Dweezil and pay the same ticket price to enjoy him performing freely, authentically, liberated - and playing "whatever the fuck he wants."

Thanks so much for sharing your perspective. I certainly do love my dad's music and find an enormous amount of inspiration in it. Playing the music is really a cathartic way of continuing a relationship with my dad. I do have my own creative ideas for music and other things as well and more and more I am moving towards developing those ideas. That is the reason I built the studio. Over a period of time I will be able to share more of what I do as a musician and composer. UA-cam is also a great way to let people in on where I'm headed. Thanks for your support.

Dweezil, I've got about 45 years at the other end of the snake cable. The fun levels were declining before the pandemic but the future looked reasonably stable and predictable. And it became anything but. Many techs and crew members found new or renewed paths, much as you and other artists did, and without the momentum of cyclical touring, found other productive uses of time and relationships. Some others retired, some passed, a few took "real jobs" for the benefits and consistent wages.
I understand your frustration and I completely get your apprehension about playing out with some of your material. You've not been playing 8 hours a day, every day, like you used to and the public seldom realizes how much muscle control and stamina is required to play at this level. You recognize how much time you'll need to return to that certainty of performance; I see that as a sign of respect for yourself, your players, your music, your fans, and the rest of Team Dweezil. Nothing half-baked from your kitchen!
Enjoy your family and the pups, and know that we're wanting the best for all your endeavors.

3:44 "it's been 4 years and I've barely even played guitar" That was so wild to hear. I always imagined that Dweezil went to bed with a guitar.
Reminds me of when Frank played the concert in Prague and opened by saying that this was the first time in 3 years that he had a reason to play his guitar. A good reminder that it's never too late to pick up where you left off. I'm glad Dweezil is giving us all this content. I know it takes 1000x more work to create than we think it does. Dear Dweezil, thank you for sharing this. When your father last played Melbourne, I was deemed too young to attend the show, so when you first toured here and played at Hamer Hall, I felt so lucky to see you and the band play. I was literally moved to tears by that performance. Since that show I was fortunate enough to be able to see you play another couple of times in Melbourne. Of course I and many others in the antipodes would love to see you tour here again BUT what I wish most for you is that you remain healthy, happy and creative. Looking forward to more documentaries like this one! Wishing you and your family all the best at this time of year and always! Lots of love from down under.

Excellent insights into real world issues personal and financial of the overlooked costs of touring to you and your family.
Frank said "touring can make you crazy" apparently it can also make you broke! Saw you at the Oakdale Ct. show in August and you signed my 72 SG that I've had since high school, one of my most precious and personal possessions and were so kind and generous with your time as was Mia (a credit to her parents) who helped make it happen. We talked baseball and more and I couldn't believe, like me, Yaz was your favorite player growing up! Hope U got the ESPN swag I left. I remember an interview where your Dad referred to himself as "a composer who happened to play guitar" talked about not playing guitar for years and basically quitting the instrument before the 88 tour (last time I saw him live in Hartford) and it kinda broke my heart. Hearing you talk of the long time away from "your childhood friend" is equally distressing, its like Van Gogh giving up painting or Lizzo quitting eating.
Ive spread the gospel of Frank to the point of obnoxiousness since hearing 200 Motels at 15 yrs old and acquired many converts along the way and will continue to do so by sharing his music and dragging people to see your shows so dont give up! Subscribed to your silver plan and I will continue to support you any way I can. I splurged on VIP tickets for the Northampton show in April! Thanks for your dedication in continuing Franks legacy, which other than his music you are the most powerful and effective instrument. See you in April!
BTW legions of people doing FZ reaction videos on youtube illustrating how his mythology contiues to reach new generations I think I shared this one with you via USB stick, one of my favorites. This woman has done a few FZ tunes previously but had no Idea what she was in for and despite her horror and embarrament she completes a hiarious in depth breakdown of Dynamoehum. She took the original post down but someone managed to preserve it here.

I look forward to the day when Dweezil goes on a tour celebrating HIS entire back catalog and doesn't play any of Frank's music. Well, maybe ONE song. The rest of the set should be HIS music. He may not think people would come but I think they absolutely would. Call it the"LET'S TALK ABOUT IT" Tour inspired by his song by the same name. And of course have Moon come out and sing the song. Since the tour is named after the song, make his guitar solo in the song a couple minutes longer where he can shred away and let his guitar do the talking. Focusing on HIS music for this tour would be massive.

Hey Dweezil, I was lucky enough to see your Dad when he came to Australia. Then my brother told me that YOU were playing here too. So, we (including my wife) saw you here a couple of times. I saw you in Syracuse, NY and we attended your Master Class before that concert, thanks for posing for some photos on my 60th birthday. We're all hoping you can make it to Australia again, cos we'll be out in force to see you again! But we can only guess the great amount of stress that touring must bring to you. Hopefully, your support team and wife can help you to ride all the bumps. Frank sure must've had a huge workload, hiring symphonies etc, while being a full time composer, band leader, guitarist and tour organizer. Kudos to you! We love you!!
One other thing: your studio looks phenomenal! I can understand why you'd be quite happy working in there! I have my own amateur studio for music, as well as my playshop (not a workshop) for metal sculpture. It's quite cathartic locking yourself in to express creativity! The cost to Tour has gotten so expensive, can't thank you enough Dweezil for getting back on the road, re learning those riffs, I enjoy all your doing as a fellow guitarist. 🙌

Thankyou Dweezil and your family for sharing. We’ve met briefly here in Melbourne Oz at masterclasses and gigs. I still carry the guitar pick you gave me in my wallet. Although I’m in another line of work I recognise the challenges and get inspiration from you and your tenacity to do the right thing. From my perspective; you are one of the most authentic of artists and persons, at this point you have so much to share, so little to prove…….you are enough. You be you and I hope that you make it to Melbourne again soon. Thanks once again.

I've been to 5 shows so far and loved them all. It sucks that things are so messed up now. It's nice to hear it from the artists point of view. Because it will be the one thing we don't see at the show. Everything that goes into it, before you even show up.

Seeing Dweezil with those doggies had me remembering "Stinkfoot" where Frank is heard saying, "Fido! Fido, come here, little puppy -- bring the slippers . . ." Arf arf arf! -- I always imagined that Frank's doggy Fido went to fetch Frank's 'sinister footwear' after bromhidrosis had rendered them too gnarly for the hypersensitive canine nostrils to deal with. How many other songwriters have ever thought to use the word 'bromhidrosis' in a song lyric, other than Frank?

Dweezil. Why not take the pressure of a tour off . At least performance wise. After so long of not touring choose songs that dont require you to perform an olympic event. I mean you still smoke on guitar! There are tons of music that still wails, just go a little easy on tourself. Do a tour of stuff you never played, and some you have that wont make this misery for you to do? Just be who you are, in the life you have. Whatever you choose as the song list, we will come, and I know, we will love it!Dont stress. Enjoy it. Have fun with it.We are ok with it. We love you brother!

    • @thedweezilzappa

On the Rox-Postrophy tour I did choose songs that were easier to play. The reality is that almost all of my dad's music is very hard to play!

      @robertartese808 Місяць тому

@@thedweezilzappa Very true. I know you are a guitarist, a great one, and want to be involved in all parts of the songs. It wouldnt be terrible to let the instruments that mechanically, may handle some of those parts . Even your dad at some point, would only put his guitar on for solos. I know its not the same. But that was fine. I dont mean to imply you are unable to play it all, but you mentioned time management. And you obviously want to be there for your family. Just throwing out some thoughts...And I love the videos! Especially the guitar tips and advice! Thanks D! God bless! And Merry Christmas to you and your family!

That is not at all what I expected this video would be, but it is a great glimpse into the reality of just how difficult and expensive it all is. And the pandemic slammed the door on everyone for a long time so there must be a lot of others in the same boat regarding touring.

Thanks for putting the reality out there for your audience to experience. I'd wager a significant percentage of your fans are musicians who (should/might?) have some idea about the complexities of touring when you're at the place in life you find yourself currently. I recently attended the 'Beat' tour in Atlanta & came away from it having spent $400.00 in total. No merch bought. Just ; 2 tickets, day off work day of show, dinner on the way & parking. It was the only opportunity I was ever gonna have to see K.C. live, so I don't regret it. We , your long time fans are feeling the economic crunch too but some of us will pay higher prices for the higher caliber musicianship you demand of yourself and your band. I would also donate to see live streamed rehearsals leading up to the tour! Just an idea..Thanks for sharing your reality with us.

Life balance is the hardest thing for all of us humans. Feeling inspired to create music or improvise on stage is not something that happens on a predictable schedule so it's tough to make time for it when you're in the zone but still have to cook dinner and walk the dogs. that's definitely not something that my dad participated in but it is a daily part of my home life.

Three or four times that night he would ask me "is this one of Dweezil's tunes?". No, that's Frank! He'd shrug in surprise as if to say "I had no idea". And btw, love the shirt at 4:30 !
