Great list! I also like the recordings by Chailly (Cleveland/Concertgebouw) in these works.

Fabulous, thanks so much! I can't hear enough recordings of this work, one of my top favourites - I love the variety. Being a 78 rpm fanatic I love the historic ones: as well as the Stokowski I have Stravinsky 1930 (sadly incomplete to date) and van Beinum 1948.
Also I can't let this pass without mentioning the piano duet version (I have several CDs, not to hand at the moment and I can't remember the pianists) - what they lack in orchestral colouring they make up for in sheer savagery! Fascinating also because this was the way Stravinsky first wrote out the music.

I regret that you didn't cover separate recordings where the two works are not coupled. Two of my favorites are the Muchael Tilson Thomas Sacre with the BSO on DGG and the Hans Rosbaud Petrushka with the Concertgebouw on Philips. Two marvelous recordings. I agree with your Dorati and Markevitch picks...Markevitch, especially was such a great conductor of 20th century classics.

For me the best version ever heard of this work is that conducted by van Beinum with the Concertgebouw Orchestra, a very very exciting performance and in excellent sound remastered by Dutton Laboratories.

For individual performances of the Rite, my favourite is Salonen with the LA Phil
