- The proposed ordinance would define them as "lodging." It means any home in a neighborhood zoned only for residential use can't be listed on Airbnb or sites like it.

Every city needs to do this.
I fully agree with this I can't imagine having a party house next-door to you
This wasn’t mentioned but if this law is passed, housing prices will almost definitely drop within those areas as well.
San Antonio and Austin need to do this
Everything that glitters ain't gold. This is why municipalities have ordinances.
If they want short term rental, built the homes by hotels
STR also inflate home prices and cause housing shortages
I wouldn’t want STRs in my neighborhood either. Sorry not sorry.
Please do this
You can't put a business right in the middle of a neighborhood. That's stupid. Get them out!
You can live in a home … renting long term is also a business😊
Seriously?? You expect DPD to regulate STRs??? Come on now🙄
Where are the other hidden comments? 😊
😂
So this means i cant build an ADU for when my family visits?
In my own property?
Great news now the rest need to follow
It isn't their home so why should they care.
Cause Dallas is a democrat city.
Plano is trying to do the same thing. It is not about politics.
@@214dude2 yes, it is. If u elect a person into office.
Y’all be haters fr
This will hurt business overall in dallas. It’s short sighted .
Good, go to a different state.
@@Vildayyan2003 no, I’ll stay thanks, my investments are here. Maybe if you owned a business you might understand?.
Nah lots of business owners and workers would love to move into those Airbnb's when the owners are forced to sell
@@Vildayyan2003 commie, go to California.
They just don't want low income people living there
Not sure of your logic there. STR's are rarely aimed at/priced for low-income people. Rather, they are aimed at tourists with extra/disposable income. Furthermore, they drive up home prices and create housing shortages for families when people buy cheaper homes just for the rental income. This actually takes affordable housing off the market. Most low income people are in need of long-term, affordable housing - STR's create neither solution for them. Most places that are legislating against STR's are doing so because it's artificially driving up the cost of housing overall in the region and because of the nuisance they present to neighborhoods with families and kids.
Some people wake up everyday just to hunt for racism 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
STRs are all over the city. I’ve seen many where I’m from in Oak Cliff. Not everyone wants to live next to that.
Aka racist
