  • Understanding limit points can be tricky at first on a motorcycle. Try to read your bends to assess whether you can see more or less width of the tarmac. Plan your position, speed and gear before the bend. These skills will help you pass your module 2 DAS motorcycle test and stay safe for life.
    Passing your DAS DVSA motorcycle module 1 test & module 2 test can be a challenge, as there's so many road safety and machine control procedures to remember when learning to ride a motorbike. Take your time to practise the new skills you learn whilst on your motorcycle lessons.
    Thanks for watching. Please comment, like, subscribe and share.
    See you soon,

    I had never stepped over a motorbike until 19 days ago. Today i passed my Mod 2!!! I genuinely think I learnt to ride a bike from watching UA-cam vids and it made stepping over a bike for the first time soooo much easier. Watching and listening to you has helped me massively!!!!!! Thank you so much Leanna.

      Well now that's quite an achievement! Well done. The real learning starts with gaining experience out on the road, so take it easy and enjoy it. Glad to have helped 😊

    Double Apex bends are something to be careful of - and is something that caught me out in my first month of riding.

    Hi Leanna, on a nearside bend the limit point is the centre line, where there is one, rather than the offside verge. The offside verge will appear to give the wrong impression of the limit point.
    However, on an offside side bend, the limit point is the nearside verge and the offside verge.
    Lovely videos as ever 👍👍👍

    • @motorcyclelessonsuk
      @motorcyclelessonsuk  8 місяців тому +2

      Thanks. I tend to describe a limit point as the limit of our view, which keeps it simple, and that is where the verge meets the verge. However this description is qualified by the statement that "we must be able to stop in the distance we can see to be clear on our side of the road", which accounts for the slight difference in description. It just keeps it simpler for novices and newbies, which this video is intended for. The principle of seeing more or less width of the tarmac is the same, regardless of whether we are looking at where the verge meets the verge, or where it meets the white line. Whilst I could clarify it for white lines, in my quest to keep it simple, I'd rather not, as its complicated enough as it is when explaining this to people who have absolutely no concept of how to read bends and apply the "PSG" segment of IPSGA on the approach. Thanks as always for your comments 😊

  • @andrewlangshanks2407

    I was trying this today whilst driving a narrow country road. It works but I realised that I was going too fast in case obstacles presented around the bend such as cyclists, horse riders or pedestrians. So always remember to drive/ride to the conditions.

    • @motorcyclelessonsuk
      @motorcyclelessonsuk  8 місяців тому +2

      Well done. You're right, it's all too easy to get the speed wrong. The best phase we use is "lose the view, lose your speed", so if you can't see around the bend, slow down to a safe speed such that you could deal with any unseen hazard. Thank for the feedback 😊

  • @michaeltelemachus5112

    One has to question why something like this trick is necessary. It surely should be obvious to anyone who has travelled along a road as long as they look ahead. If it is not, then perhaps driving is not for you.

    • @motorcyclelessonsuk
      @motorcyclelessonsuk  8 місяців тому +1

      You'd be surprised how many car drivers are not reading the road or the limit point successfully. We see a lot of drivers and riders habit braking just because there is a bend ahead, when if they were reading whether the road was opening, closing or holding, they would be able to gauge their speed more accurately. Your observation and comment assumes poeple are competent at a skill which, unless explained, is not immediately obvious to a lot of people who drive or ride.

    • @eyeguy51
      @eyeguy51 8 місяців тому +1

      I totally agree with you
      There are much better motorcycle, tutorials available, and judging by the number of likes this one received over the past three days that’s obvious to a great number of people.
      Like you say, if what’s being discussed in this video isn’t obvious to everyone behind the wheel or holding the handlebars they shouldn’t be on the road.

    • @michaeltelemachus5112
      @michaeltelemachus5112 8 місяців тому

      @@motorcyclelessonsuk They do not brake inappropriately because they can't read the road; it is because they are not concentrating enough on their driving, or they simply just don't have the confidence that they can actually do it instinctively, as almost everyone can.

      Not all learner riders/drivers understand what limit points are and how to read and negotiate them.

    • @michaeltelemachus5112
      @michaeltelemachus5112 8 місяців тому

      @@iansheff I have been riding for 50 years and this is the first time that I have ever heard of, let alone considered, limit points. Judging a bend is instinctive, it is done without thought. This sort of thing merely serves to confuse.
