this is an example of social media and modern distribution actually being a really fresh thing for music. I would never listen to the john mayer version but i think its really cool they made a work that gives props to him that a lot of non mayer fans can enjoy

The funniest thing about this version is that this version sounds even more like what Toto would make than the version Mary made. And that was already very Toto-like.

Im listening to this on repeat now. I feel bad that I dont listen to the John Mayer on as much, but those little bass and keyboard motifs at the end of the vocal lines satisfy that craving for interesting phrasing. The dissonance @2:20 is really nice as well.
