      @SkanCityAcademy_SirJohn  Рік тому

      Kindly backtrack a bit to where we defined the cosine rule, 05:45 you realized that we defined the angle theta, and that what we used for the R force expression, so we are just translating what we've learnt from that section, to solve q1

    • @SkanCityAcademy_SirJohn
      @SkanCityAcademy_SirJohn  Рік тому +1

      You can put it on the other side, but we are looking for the easiest way to obtain the direction, that is the angle the resultant force makes with the positive x axis

  • @nellymwila9586
    @nellymwila9586 2 роки тому +1

    So you do the same when you've been asked to find the magnitude and direction of the sum Vector say A+B? Then again what about A-B?

    • @SkanCityAcademy_SirJohn
      @SkanCityAcademy_SirJohn  2 роки тому +2

      I don't really understand your question but if Vector A and B are parallel, then the vector sum will be A+(-B)

  • @Zwalter
    @Zwalter 2 роки тому +1

    I have a question, On your last problem when finding the direction why is it:
    Sin theta= 800 sin(60) / 721.11
    and not
    Sin theta= 600 sin(60) / 721.11
    ???
    In your video, you are finding the angle between 800N and the Fr where infact you are going to solve for the angle of Fr and 600N the minus it to 30 deg. Please clarify I'm quite confuse. I got all 2 problems but the last one was questionable

    • @SkanCityAcademy_SirJohn
      @SkanCityAcademy_SirJohn  2 роки тому +1

      The reason why it is 800sin(60)/721.11 is that, in finding alpha, considering the triangle on the right, the original 800N force is parallel to the line from FR to 600N, and so, asing the law of sines, sin of alpha/ the side opposite to alpha, and that is 800N. And you follow with the rest of the solution. So that's how come it's supposed to be 800N and not 600N. Kindly reply if you still don't get it. Thanks for watching....

    In what case will it be +2(A)(B)CosTHETA?

    • @SkanCityAcademy_SirJohn
      @SkanCityAcademy_SirJohn  7 місяців тому +1

      +2ab cos (theta) is used to find the magnitude of the resultant force of two vectors a and B acting at an angle theta,
      While
      -2ab cos (theta) is used to find the third side of a triangle, with sides a and b and an angle theta
