He wasn't making fun of himself, he was finally letting go of all the pain and suffering he'd been holding on to for so long. Finally forgiving his mom. Having a kid changed his life and made him see that there is something to live for, someone to live for. He finally allowed God to clean up his mind and heart. Depression is real and it's a fight. He said the 30 years line at the end 31 times because he just turned 31. So it was 30 years of old NF, depression, pain, suffering, no hope in sight but year 31 is a new light, a new chapter, a new start. NF is hands down the G.O.A.T.
This song pushed me over the edge from defeating my depression. I'm almost 50 and for 36 years I've been in therapy. It was the end of the song with the 30 years of just made me breakdown and it's time to let go of the darkness. Then I heard "Running" which is the last song on Hope, that one cemented my turn around. Thanks to NF and Ren, I've been happy for the past 6 to 7 months with hardly any depression.
That's fucking beautiful, beyond beautiful. You deserve every ounce of happiness you've found and I promise there is more out there for you. Never quit, there will be bad days, bad weeks, maybe even bad years, but don't give up on yourself. Just come back to the art that makes you feel alive. Love you brother, much love 🙏
He's not making of himself he finally addressing his issues with Hope. He will always battle his issues...that was the battle at the mountain top. He took the reigns but his past will always try to creep in. Nice reaction.
I highly suggest watching most of his Music Videos in order. They basically tell a story and Hope was in my opinion suppose to be the ending of his search for Hope. The other music videos will also tell you about who the other 'selfs" were. I.E Depression | Anger | Fear
been an NF fan for so long and this song just gave me another reason to love him. He is one of the only artists I know who has character development. That alone makes him amazing.
Wasn’t making fun of himself. He realized there’s so much more to life, and he’s releasing all the fear and pain and anger he’s been living in. He wants to live life to the fullest and change from hopeless to hopeful. It’s brilliant.
His “brooding, black persona” is not something just for his music or him to get famous or something that most musicians nowadays putting on. This is a reflection of his music, and his music reflects what’s he’s going through, all the baggages that he’s carrying is bleeding off from his music, his songs. I never thought that being “serious” is something off-putting. He is literally singing/rapping his heart out, what most of us going through and relate to him, him being “serious” and being REAL is what makes him standout, which is very rare for a musician nowadays, from the ocean of sex, money, drugs, bitc**s, swearings fortunately we have NF.
Yeah and I wanna say something, I dont even listen to other rappers who rap about sex, money, drugs, etc. I literally could care less about them. I only listen to NF and rappers who talk about real genuine and relatable things. People who rap about things with respect and love.
He and Dax are similar in how they rap and what they rap on, but Dax is more Christian and God-oriented in certain aspects as well as doesn't curse in his raps
@@lucawiersemaDax is really bad about cussing . I’m not judging but Dax don’t really represent a real Christian lifestyle . Most of his songs that iv listened to have the “f” word in them a lot and some have GD that is a word no Christian would ever say as it’s using Gods name in vein
i never listen to NF, but my friends do and they took me to his concert this past summer. before the show my roommate would play his music some and this was the song that stuck in my head the most. the video is so good!
Love that NF is being recognized on a national level even in mainstream things like the commercials for college football and being put into video games. His songs are so anthem like and touch a lot of people in so many different ways
It's not him poking fun at his old self. It's more about his "real" journey with his mental health and how he has grown . You can follow his progression from album to album. When his mix tape came out and even slightly before that you could see everything lining up to come out with a much more positive outtake in life in general. His connection with his fans and being that voice for those that can't or don't know how to put into words the troubles they may be experiencing and more importantly how to push past those negative thoughts that their are people all over with similar problems. Even you where talking about how dark his music is but you can go back all the way to therapy session and even before even with it's dark "atmosphere the underlying message was in achieving a positive attitude and mental health.
Every emotion he personifies so he always has an inner battle, this time its hope vs fear, the black was trying to take over and hope made it clear now he's taking the reigns.
He's not making fun of himself. I physically cringed when you said that. He's not making a mockery of his older self: he's turning *into* a *new* NF. C'mon, dude.
I cry a little everytime I listen to this song....I have gone through hell in life, and when I needed to move on and pick myself up, he came out with this song....He isn't making "fun" of himself. He's in a battle with himself. The part of him that wants to keep him down. The part of him that won't let him heal. I fight myself every day and he has helped me find my footing and I can't even begin to explain how much this dude means to me.
Huge NF Fan here, goosebumps everytime!!! The creativity is awesome!!! You should listen to The search, and the last song of the Hope album (Running) where he is saying goodbye to FEAR!!! Also listen to Intro 3, hes talking to fear too ❤
This song came out when everything in my life fell apart at the same time, and I was in one of the darkest points in my life. Now I'm in college, NF is my favorite artist of all time, and when I make it big he is def getting a shout out as the man who straight up saved my life.
The way he shows he's evolving and growing. Letting go of past pain and troubles yet they keep trying to creep back into his mind. When he says the 30 years lines he says 30 years 30 times.
Dude the darkness comes out of watching his mom die to prescription drug addiction and a hard childhood because of it. You need to take the whole NF Journey to truly understand where he came from.
Me too! Hope tour was so AMAZING. I never sat down, (should have bought the general admission, cheaper and up close) I looked like I came out of a torrential rain storm!! What a ride!
He was not taking himself too seriously. The whole albums, timeline and adding to that the videos and which songs he has picked to make a video from it, is the clear process of healing and how his life have been a process of learning, forgiving, moving forward not by just doing it, doing it with the intention of being better for him and his beloved ones :).
He's moving away from himself. He's choosing growth and showing his self awareness so people might join him. We die if we stop growing. Gotta keep moving up...elevate. Love this deeply!
Not changing but Evolving i believe would be a good way to put it. I am obsessed with this song not only because i feel like i can relate so much to this song. Such an incredible track.
bro what you said about this being like a movie is so cool because it's exactly what he would want to hear. "I don't know if I'm making movies or music videos." -NF 'The Search'
Bro I found your channel today and it's crazy to me that some of your most recent videos are my favorite artists!! (Taylor swift, BTS, NF) thank you so much for reacting to all of them, keep it up!
Can I just tell you my oldest son turned me on to nf and I absolutely fell in love with him as an artist but Baby…. This new NF HITS YOU IN A DIFFERENT WAY! It’s amazing and inspiring! I really enjoyed this and all of his new mature found self is AMAZING!!!! I fell in love all over again!!!! Your reaction was exactly the reaction I had!!!!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ not real sure there is any other artist blowing minds quite like this one! I’m totally digging it completely as I’m sure so are the rest of his fans and the rest of the world!!!!!
Each room represented each one of his past albums not songs. And the track and video repsents him letting go of the past and moving on. Letting go of the darkness within and coming to the light, letting go the negative and becoming positive. You got darkness and light, dark represents the past the negative and the light represents rebirth ( he is reborn he is becoming the better version of himself) hence he says, “ I’m taking the reins” he now controls his path and his darkness no longer has the hold on him. It is honestly the most beautiful and powerful song / lyrics / video any artist has ever released in my opinion. The way he re traces his steps and breaks down each past album of his to then transition back to explaining how he got to this point and ending it with him officially letting go and becoming the captain of his own ship / of his life story. The way he writes is truly something so beautiful and so unique, that is why I love NF and the work he puts out so much. Mad respect for NF.
i went to his world tour hope in october and when i tell you it was amazing, it really was! now everytime i hear his songs its like im back at the concert it was so great being there the vinbe and everything would love to go again!!!
I'm not usually a rap listener but I love NF because his lyrics resonate with me and especially this song I get it so much and this video is off the chain. I can't wait to see him in concert
The black NF isn’t really his past self it’s more of his Fear (in black) VS his Hope (in white) this visually is probably one of his best clouds is beautiful with the transitions but this ties the visuals with the message soooo well!
I love hope so much. Bc not only does it show him letting go of his pain, but throughout the album his songs are more sung than rapped, and his rap was a way for him to express his trauma and show his pain, and I feel like him singing more in the album shows his strength and his evolvement through the pain.
I found Nate few years ago. And I ended up digging his other song and then I can't stop listening to his songs. When HOPE come out and listening to it, i cried. Literally. So, yah.
I recently saw NF, IT WAS AMAZING! NO ONE SAT DOWN, I MIGHT AS WELL HAVE BEEN IN THE PIT! I NEVER SAT DOWN, I was RAPPING,DANCING, SINGING, AND I CAME OUT OF THE CONCERT LOOKING LIKE I STEPT OUT OF A TORRENTIAL RAINSTORM. (GREAT AEROBICS, & i never even FELT IT, until the next DAY!) I tell (refer) ALL to do the NF JOURNEY, most of his music is not sung to a person (some are) but sung to an emotion or feeling, its helped him and he's saved lives with his music. Those that understand, he sings to his dark self in white represents fighting the battles we have within. Its genius imo. as you hear NFs music you will recognize all the Easter Eggs from other pieces from the past. RykerRoad does a great breakdown, as do you, but you are a composer, id love for you to do Running (last on the Hope tour) i believe he's speaking to Fear in Running. In Hope, imo, he's reaching for hope while singing to emotions that caused him not to believe in himself (the dark vs the light.) "Was a lost soul, at a crossroad, who had no hope, but I CHANGED THAT!" AMAZING SONG! BUT VERY DEEP. Do RUNNING, please? And the NF JOURNEY, keeping what i said in mind. Not many on youtube do the journey. "I don't know why GOD chose me." (CLOUDS, you will LOVE the TRANSITIONS!) God BLESS!
I love how this video referenced his lyrics from Mansion because he ended the song with that’s a door I won’t ever open.. so he did open the door. He’s lyrically remarkable. Probably the best artist out there to put his music into a beautiful visual story or evolution, too. He’s the best.
refering to 6:50 when he's talking about Nate's change in clothes compared to old music videos; I saw him in concert in august and throughout the show, he went from all-black clothes at the start and eventually ended up in all-white by the end. It was a really cool transformation
Man, that was fun watching his video and someone seeing it for the first time. Yeah, I think we stopped it like 10 times and then watched it all the way through at the beginning. It's like a movie so he wasn't wrong. He's uber talented in various areas so wonder what his next project will be. He doesn't love touring for himself, as we all know, but enjoys doing it for his fans. And we just take a minute to acknowledge how beautiful it is to see (most of) his fans cheer him on in this new phase of hopeful living he is in. Praise The Lord for his getting back to a faith and fulfilled headspace. Now, this video makes me want to sit and watch a bunch more of his stuff and reaction videos. He is the real deal, doing the real thing, and being the real NF!
Great reaction! You should listen to “Running”, last track on the hope Album. Musically it’s awesome and resolves the “taking the reigns” finish to to Hope video.

I always watch every video reacting to this because I just love everyone’s reaction to the end because it’s so frickin good
I loved your reaction, thanks ! :)
HOPE is amazing, you should react to HAPPY next, it is sooo relatable and one of his best songs yet.
I can't wait to see him live he inspires me!
Great reaction!
You should listen to “Running”, last track on the hope Album. Musically it’s awesome and resolves the “taking the reigns” finish to to Hope video.
listen to search, careful, hate myself, lost, and trust.
all truly impressive.
6:13 the words you say about music video or movie those are actual NF quotes from The Search
I saw nf in hershy pa, and when hope started, it was one of the most crazy build up ever. Man I love. Nf
lol, I used to live there. Nice!
Bro the goosebumps this song gives me!!!
I get goose bumps listening to this too ❤
